but its a ported box though Just like he said: either get a sealed box for your subwoofer, turn the volume down or dont play songs with low frequencies in them.

Sounds good, glad it is getting taken care of.

If they fit your goals and budget then I dont see why they wouldnt be legit. Legit like how?

amp tunning
jcarter1885 replied to castimar's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Bass Boost should be at 0, LPF should be anywhere from 100Hz on down (usually between 60-80hz) but that depends on where your midbass are crossed at and how your speaker performs at that frequency. Your input should be matched to your headunit, so if your pre-out voltage is 4volts on your headunit then that is where you want your input level set at 4 volts. -
I feel prompted to let everyone know, because of post like this one, that I am not a part of SPL-Labs nor profiting from the group buy in the for sale section. I am here to give a review of a product that has generated a buzz for those looking to step up their car audio experience. I did my due diligence and bought one with my own dime. Rest assured this will be impartial. If it works and is accurate cool. If it sucks, well I guess I out the cash till I find a sucker on e-gay. Just kidding, I wouldn't do that. Now that I got that off my chest, lets move on and continue with the review. and great review so far

electrical problem
jcarter1885 replied to Hansk's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Sorry I thought I explained it well enough in the previous post. By hooking up another battery correctly or incorrectly you could have triggered a code that is telling the light to come on. Unhook the secondary battery, the one you just installed in your system. Once you unhook it then see if the lights are coming back on or if they are back off. -
Serious voltage drops
jcarter1885 replied to DiabolicCustoms's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
What kind of volt meter do you have, if it is a Stinger did you calibrate it before using it? If not then ignore my post. -

electrical problem
jcarter1885 replied to Hansk's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
The only things I can think of it being is a code issue or a slip up some where. Take the battery off that you just hooked up and see if the lights still light up, just my .02 -
I always loved Cadillacs, enjoy it . Sounds like your headed in a good direction with your plans so far.

Can't find a credible answer to this...
jcarter1885 replied to Dpaw37's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Dont use bass boost and dont use a DMM to set your gain since you cant detect clipping. If your worried about your electrical being enough to run at .5 ohms it is only one way to tell, install all the equipment and watch your voltage. I would take extra measures to make sure my voltage is up to par to run an amp at .5 ohms. If your stock speakers get to loud or sound like ass then either replace them or change your settings on your headunit that control those speakers and what they do. Play around with your settings till you get what you want or give us some more information and we can try to help you, how do you have your headunit set up as of now? -
Whats changing, let me in

Hooking up two amps to one sub
jcarter1885 replied to imhungnurnot's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
You can wire an amp to each coil but you may be asking for trouble so I wouldnt advise it personally. I would just run it on one amp at 1 ohms till you can get an amp that you need. What is the exact Autotek Model number and what does the amp do at 1 ohm? -
Very creative and use of materials that were already there, deserves a couple :fing34: on the tweeter install.

2 12in DC Audio LVL4XLs, 2 stetsom 7ks, 1 2008 Pontiac G6
jcarter1885 replied to Cthedinger's topic in Build Logs
on the shirt, definitely need 1 or 2 of them. Good luck on the numbers, what are your goals if any? -
Personally if your not listening to spanish music or old school music then it really is no use for the epic center in your car, unless you can control it right. During rap it shouldnt really be used period since nowadays it will just distort the bass then help it.
-
Keep up the good work, looking nice so far.
-
Changing subs may help out but if he doesnt know how to control the epiccenter then it will happen again.

Dont know there T/S Parameters, you may have to email them for those specs but this may help: IA Recommended Enclosure Sizing - SSA Car Audio Forum

Memphis Amps?
jcarter1885 replied to Mahna Mahna's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Memphis makes good amps, I had a Power Reference a few years ago. I loved my amp and it did its job, i accidentally wired to 0.5 ohms and it lasted for almost a year until it gave in (user error listening to a friend before knowing what I was doing). What is your budget and what features do you need. If the Memphis fits your budget and will fit the requirements for your install then get it.
