Running new wires for H/U
jcarter1885 replied to BanginGMC's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
By open slot, what do you mean? Did you just wrap the stands of wire around the fuse and stuff it in? Autozone\Discount auto sells a fuse plug with a wire running out of it. Alot cleaner than just stuffing a wire in there. it's called a fuse plug tap. Thanks dude! Thanks man, I need to go get one of these since I just wrapped the wire on one of the prongs on the fuse and plugged it in. -
Amp for 8" Orphan?
jcarter1885 replied to glory's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Any amp that fits your power range and budget, considering you didnt give a budget then it will be hard to help you. Go to different sites like these and search for an amp that fits your needs: www.woofersetc.com www.sonicelectronix.com www.onlinecarstereo.com -
batt question
jcarter1885 replied to CrownVic's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
To each its own but that is a waste of money when you can just get one battery for the back that will have plenty of power for less money then you would spend on the 3 yellowtops plus you will be using less room. -
They are cheaper than that but it depends on where you live at, the speakers are actually 7".

Difference between these two ssa box designs?
jcarter1885 replied to Robert.Metzel's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
The Icon box will be fine for the SSD's -
Keep up the work man
-
Yeah that should be fine, what amp are you using for this kit? Anything under 1200 watts will suffice.
-
10 -14 guage for subwoofers and if you want to do 8 gauge then it will be overkill and require some modifications to the wire.

Running new wires for H/U
jcarter1885 replied to BanginGMC's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Run a wire from your ignition wire on the headunits wiring harness to your fuse panel and find an open slot or the ignition or Acc. Fuse, this is how mine is hooked up since I have a short in the Ignition wiring in my harness. -

Did you pre-drill at first to make the screw go in with ease instead of having to force the screw in from the start? Ouch sounds painful, never had that happen to me. Also OP, take a picture so we can see if the hole is bad or not (whether simple or extreme measures need to be taken).

Just show your friend this picture:
-
It wasnt the screws, that is always why you should use a guide when drilling a screw in whether it is your finger or the one attached to the drill(if available).

I like the enclosure but why two different reds on the box (maybe it was just the way the picture came out).

Nice upgrade to the Marquis
-
What extra piece? That's how it really is. lol No shit Sherlock, you read into it wrong. Its not an extra piece on the subwoofer (just a different motoring design), just a change in design from standard woofers

dmm'ing my gains
jcarter1885 replied to aimone's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
You can either start halfway and work your way up the SSF till you feel your sub is safe or start at 60Hz and work your way down till you find where your comfortable with the subs excursion limits. -
And why cant Sundown SA-12"s handle the lows like the BTL or better?
-
Cant wait for more testing on this amp. Im wondering how it will do at a 0.5 ohm? I know it would probably void the warranty but this thing looks like a small tank If your worried about how it will do at 0.5 ohm then get the SAZ-1500D and just run it at 1 ohm.

WHO WOULD WIN? SSA XCON 18" VS FI BTL 18" VS digital designs D
jcarter1885 replied to mikemihai's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
Midrange speakers have nothing to do with which subwoofer would be louder and clearer. If your looking for a loud all around groundpounder then get the BTL and if you want a great sounding woofer that has the ability to get loud then go XCON. Even though it is install dependent the BTL should get louder than the Xcon and the Xcon should produce bass more accurate then the BTL.
