Dont let the 4 gauge power inputs turn you away if the amp is what you want, you can run 1/0 wire and get some 4 gauge reducers to plug into the terminals. Like so: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_16846_Stinger-SPT821-Gold.html

Every subwoofer has a difference from another, thats why so many are made. Depends on goals and other information you want to share with us. -
yet another "what battery for my car" thread

I understand, no need to tell me how much you make to be honest with you. If you get an AGM battery like XS Power or whatever brand you choose they will not dirty up the air being in the open, mostly half the guys on this forum run secondary batteries in the open air (its just a certain type you can use though). -

Trust me unless you make the product your gonna use, you want be that original with the idea. Why do people look at an idea as stealing, to me that compliments the builders taste in my eyes. Good luck with what you find but like Sir-Lance said just get it painted to a color you like. -

Well car audio is about compromises to be honest with you, its either pay some money to have a nice electrical to keep your equipment running or ruin your equipment by not having the proper electrical. You gotta pay to play, another idea would be to recone your sub for a 15" so you can find space for another battery. You have to plan everything out before you just go buying things, especially if you upgrade your gonna need a bigger alternator and possible another battery. But then again it is all in the install, im pretty sure if need be you can find somewhere to fit secondary battery in a wagon. If your that worried about the alternator then just budget to get a new one as well, dont have to get it tomorrow. Just play your system conservatively until you can get the new alt. -

Theres a lot of ideas you can do to finish a box just depends on how much you want to spend or how creative you are. You can use marble, aluminum finish among other things. A dude on her finished his with a wood stain, making it look like some hard wood floors or nice furniture. -

Reread post #13 and #16, he states you will be fine if is just a daily setup but if you want to compete and do demos a another battery will help out. But every car electrical is different and depends on factors such as your listening habits, goals and how you control the volume knob to be honest with you. The best way to tell is to install your equipment, get a voltmeter and watch your voltage to see if you need more power to make power. In the beginning the stock alt and D5100 may be all you need and if you need more power since your limited on space for a secondary battery go for an upgraded alternator. The real factor will be the sundown amp, the Boss wont be pulling to many amps to worry about to be honest with you (so your looking at around 1600rms-1700rms on full tilt). -
Just sell the SA-12's and find out how much space you have for 15"s and throw all SA-15's in there, I woudnt mix two different sub sizes. Or you can just buy more SA-12's and build a bigger box for all the 12"s.

How are you fitting (2) 21" subwoofers in a mailbu? My durango is 44" wide, that would only give me an extra 2". I can't believe a malibu is any bigger let alone the same width? The same thing I was thinking when he said he is going with 2-21"s but didnt want to speak on it. If thats the case I need to get me a new Malibu

Battery question
jcarter1885 replied to smashedz28's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Usually leaving your ground wire hooked up on batteries can tend to drain the batteries over time if the car isnt started, I would just unhook them until you plan on using the truck if that is not for a while. -
Ground Noise or Something
jcarter1885 replied to rmzsuzuki89's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Look at that for starters if you havent, I would also look at another sub amp as well as an hu if you can. I doubt it but your amp can be at faultl, did you check your rcas as well. -
Voltage drop at idle.
jcarter1885 replied to SentraGuy's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I never play at full tilt when idling, your just asking for trouble especially if you idle to long. But like Impious posted above, it really depends how long you idle at, I wouldnt let my batteries go below 13.0volts but that is just my personal preference. -

I wouldnt go any higher than 26 or 27, remember never to turn your volume up past 75% (thats usually how I do it). -
new box, need some help figuring out where i should cut hole for sub
jcarter1885 replied to jrb00992's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
If your gonna do sub towards the door then fire the port the same way, unless this is for competition then a lot of testing will need to be done to find where to place the port. -
Yeah mini-hons are still the plans, just gotta sell some things first that I have sitting around and I will begin to slowly by things and install them.

Smallest Ported enclosure for Xcon 18
jcarter1885 replied to Bam bam's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
It will involve a lot of factors and testing to determine tha answer. -
Nothing new that deserves any pictures to be taken, most of the work has been much needed under the hood maintenance/dirty work. I installed the bass remote for the amp but have not decided where I want to run the cord for the remote, Im thinking down the center console where I plan on running my rca's when I get headunit installed. I will be ordering one of my 6.5" Oxygen Audio speakers on Monday or Tuesday, so the ones on the first page will be up for grabs if anyone is interested. Speaker wire is ran on both sides of the car for mids and highs, I finished the Big 1 - engine block to frame upgrade on the previous page. Im waiting to get a new battery before i finish the Big 3 wiring as I already have the wire now. Right now im in a bind when it comes to a subwoofers, Im currently thinking about: 3 - Fi Q 10"s (3500 amp) 2 - Fi Q 12's (2500 amp) AA Mayhem 15" (3500 amp) Either setup will be in 4ft^3 after displacement ported enclosure, tuned around 28-31hz. Im looking for a daily ground pounder with a brutal low end. I made an amp board for my mids and highs amp, I have the Sundown SAX-125.2 (highs) mounted on the board already, just need to purchase my Incriminator Audio IA6.4 (mids) so I can mount it on the board. More than likely this will be going in the wheel well unless plans change so I probably wont cover the wood and leave it as is, I will add another piece of wood under this that is the actual size of the wheel well. Once that is made I will glue the two boards together and then bolt them down to the bottom of the trunk.

If your gonna get a ho alternator then 9 times out of 10 with the amount of power your running you want need a secondary battery in the trunk. Just get a upgraded stock battery and volt meter, then monitor your voltage. After you install everything then determine if more electrical upgrades are needed.
