Is it me... or is this N2 hittin weird?
jcarter1885 replied to swagger_wagon468's topic in General Fi
Someone on another forum was saying that he was going to base his decision on what numbers my brother's N2 ends up doing when he gets the electrical to turn his amp up from this video The sub ends up being a pretty small factor, in terms of putting up a number on the TL, when compared to the many variables that go into a build. So if i built a box and made the sub play and it turned a 157 on the termlab because I yanked the K factor way up he'd buy it instead of something that did a 149..because he thinks his is going to do a 157? sigh. Thats how it goes Nick, thats why people want to give the BTL's 4000+ watts daily. Its cause what they see in a video, they think they will achieve the same output or get the same results by following suit. -
Honestly that is going to depend on your goals and considering your gonna be competing your gonna wait more power than a daily system would. I think that would be fine for daily but competing I dont think so but that is all install dependent and what your trying to achieve. The best way to tell is to install it and see if you need more power when your going all in or not.

Nope since everything else goes downhill anyway as you get older, i will always have a system just nowhere near as loud as I like them nowadays.
-
What made you switch out from the Crescendos to the Soundstreams TSW.3's? How do those PowerBass compare to the Selenium you used to have? Nice equipment, cant wait to see the build log updates.
-
What is your idea of low tuned ported box, 27-29 or 30-32 or lower?
-
Depends on your definition of loud honestly.
-
Yeah and I didnt care for the Zv.1 to much so I think the Zv.2 wouldnt fit my goals either. My favorite subs are Kicker CVX and JL Audio w6 so far(havent listened to my SSA Icon yet), there are others that I liked but they were mostly mainstream companies. Just looking for something similar with a little more output, I know subs cant be compared just giving you guys an idea of what has satisfied me in the past.

Hey all, Im trying to decide what I want to do for my summer sub setup. It will be going in a 1998 Acura 3.5RL, trunk system with about 4ft.^3 after displacement. I will be using around 3500 watts for either setup and dont plan on more power (not looking for number really but that would be nice). Im looking for more of a daily ground pounder with a great low end response that can be brutal when I turn it up. For tuning im planning on 31hz, I listen to mostly chopped and screwed music/r&b/old school and rap. Here are the options, any more questions just ask. Sub Options: 3-10" Fi Q's 2-12" SSA Xcons or DD 3512s 15" AA Mayhem *Electrical will be a DC Power H/O Alternator, XS Power D2400 and D3100 batteries and Big 3 wiring. **2-12"s will be rear firing, more than likely the 15" and 3-10" will be upward firing.

Enclosure Build for Hove (Two 18 Inch Sundown NSv2's)
jcarter1885 replied to Argent Audio's topic in Argent Audio
Honestly the only person who can answer that is Andrew, Hove gets small amounts of information and then left in the dark about whats going on. Hove is just eagerly waiting but stuff happens man and you just have to deal with it, thats how I look at it. -

I What year do you have, I just picked up an 1998 Acura 3.5RL and im looking for an alternator myself? I have a 04 but we have the same engines. I curently have a 180A alt in my car now but im upgrading to 270-320. If you want the one i take out, let me know, ive only had it about 3 months so its mint still. But if not and want to go new, thats cool too Not looking for one right now, just pricing honestly but thanks for the heads up though. I will be tuned in to this to see what I should do for my Acura as well.

Can someone from DC Power Contact ME!!!!
jcarter1885 replied to RHoughton1's topic in For Sale/Wanted
Very hard Rob since a lot of people in this world dont use common sense or that organ in there head called a brain. Why even bring up another situation that doesnt even involve you Novek, so full of fail and emotional attachment to nothing that concerns you. -
I had a Z v.1 and it was ok, I liked it just not really what I was looking for. I want a sub to get loud but that not be the only thing, it sounded good but not what I wanted. I want my subwoofer to still sound excellent as it gets louder. Your response helped me make a good decision. Considering what you said and how i feel about the Z, i do think the Xcons will be for me.

Naw not really a seasonal thing just got a few things to handle first and no this will not be started till summer time, plus moving which will kill most of my funds but thats not on topic. Im liking the SSA Xcons or AA Havocs dual 12" idea.

Honestly you need to do some research on car audio and catch up on a lot of information your missing out on. You need to establish your goals and application then decide on a sub setup that will fit the bill. Not just tossing options out there and asking people for opinions, exactly what your getting opinions and not facts. You will end up installing the system and it either is not what you want or it didnt achieve what the goals you were trying to reach. Throwing a lot of subwoofers in your car is not the only way to reach big spl numbers either especially if the box is wrong for them, so if your doing it to look cool then I would advise another route. Just some food for thought for you to think about and slow down man your build doesnt start till February probably March. You change your mind more than I do in a short period of time, buying things without even getting a chance to hear them to see if you like them. Just take a step back and really plan this out, this will give you the best results honestly. I mean plan everything out from amp placement, battery placement, wiring, room available, electrical upgrades your willing to pay for and so on. Its more to a system then just choosing subs especially when you want to do a build of your caliber. Just my .02

I definitely appreciate your input and thats what I kinda been thinking about the Q's as well, I bet there one hell of a woofer but may not just be enough. I really need to go out to some shows and hear some setups to get a better idea of what i want but there really arent any shows around. Thanks again

Yeah I have 2 - 6x9" speaker cutouts in the rear deck for the rear deck speakers but it is not accessible through the trunk. I would have to cut some metal to get to the speakers through the trunk or port through the rear deck. Dont think I want to do any cutting right now at this point. I definitely like the ideas keep them coming.
-
I definitely thought about that but my rear deck is well constructed and dont want to put that much work into modifying it honestly. If I had my last vehicle then the rear deck wouldnt be an issue right now. Right now if I did the 3-10"s it would be upward firing for the subwoofers.
-
Yeah impedence is one of the things that is keeping me from doing the 10's, just threw it out as an option since its on the back burner. The main advantage of the 12''s is I can do rear or forward firing port and subwoofers and not upward firing causing more abuse to the trunk lid then wanted. Your helping me make this decision easier, so far im liking the 2-12"s idea.

Go to the Build Log Section and look at there build logs, pictures will be in there.

Setting Gain on SAZ-1500d V.2
jcarter1885 replied to blunt's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I dont use a DMM to set my gains, just go by ear. Find out what your head units pre-out voltage is and match that with the gain on the amplifier, the gain is there to match the signal coming from the headunit. -
