Amp for 2x ICON 12's?
jcarter1885 replied to barley89's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Nope you get 2 D2 Dcons and wire them to 4 ohms. When you bring the two subs together they will drop down to a 2 ohm load. I don't think they make D2 Dcons, according to the store, but get 2 S4. Your absolutely right, didnt know that. So OP listen to Hzd Skizzy and get 2 S4 Dcons. -

* SSA Zcon T/S Parameters *

Whats the displacement and mounting depth on the 15" version? Thanks -
Wow, didnt know this was worthy of a thread but cool story bro.

x2, depending on your factory alternator size you may only need to upgrade the battery under the hood or just add a small secondary battery. The best way to find out is install equipment with volt meter and monitor voltage. Small voltage drops will only require some more power such as a secondary battery. Make sure you do Big 3 as well

You really dont even have to run them if your limited on time, just take plug them in headunit then run the rca's over the seats and plug them into amp. This will see if rca wire is the problem or not, so you dont have to rip your car apart taking the old rca wires out if there not the problem.

It definitely does play a role now, thought it could be a simple fix. The pico fuse is usually the #1 problem solver with the Pioneer units, more or better grounds can help as well. Check out this thread as well: Noise Troubleshooting Guide

So correct me if Im wrong, you didnt have this problem until you put the tweeters in right? This can be heard only when your passed a certain volume on your radio right? Take the tweeters off the amp and play the Alpine's by themselves at this normal listening volume and see if you still hear the hiss. If so then you have to solder your pico fuse in headunit. If not then your tweeters are hissing because of too much power or bad crossover settings, other wise your Alpine's would be hissing too since they have a high frequency driver on them as well. Usually when I had a ground loop problem or alternator whine, it was either constant and could be heard at all volume levels or it got higher as you turned the volume knob. You could also just hook up an ipod to your amps rca's and use this as your source to see if hiss is still there. If hiss is still there then pico fuse is needed to be soldered or you need a better h/u ground. Just my .02

Fuse ratings dont always work the way your thinking, the fuse is their to protect the wire and not the alternator. If your theory was true then people with stock alternators would blow fuses all the time since the fuse is not as high as the alt amperage usually.

I Series Components (6.5") and Coaxials (6.5" and 6x9)
jcarter1885 replied to ia2's topic in Incriminator Audio
Nope cause that is a vague question, not to many component sets are out there so I doubt anyone has tested it with an Xcon 15". Plus keep up is a loosely used term and very subjective when it comes to each person's ears and taste. If the components cant keep up then turn the sub down. -
I wouldnt rule out speakers either, you could of been pushing them to their limits as well. If the noise doesnt go away check your speakers individually and make sure all are working properly. The noise may be from a tweeter thats almost blown from being abused, I been there before.

You cant pre-order something that is already available for purchase plus SSA does not do pre-orders.

Seems like a moot point really, I dont see why they would make one 2500 amp put out more power than the 2500's they sell to customers. Even if they didnt bench my amp I would say it would be in the same range give or take some watts.
-
I would recommend 1-XS 3100 for the rear and upgrade your starting battery to an XS battery as well. Should be enough for your application, then if you feel you need more go for another XS3100.
-
That fuse size will be fine for that amplifier, if anyone doubts you tell them to do some research about fusing amplifiers first. Zed Audio has a good write up explaining about fuse/power rating ratio's, just because an amp is rated 600 watts does not mean it will need a 60amp fuse or bigger to perform properly.

Happy Happy Birthday Aaron, enjoy it buddy.

Not too many tweeters will get loud off of head unit power unless they are very efficient like pro audio tweeters, you need to amp those things if you want more output. -

Bridging a JL Audio XD400/4
jcarter1885 replied to edouble101's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
No problem, at first I was confused by what it was saying then I see that when bridged all you need is 2 channel rca. But if you want to keep the left and right channel seperation then use a y-adaptor. I was actually looking at those amps yesterday myself. -

Yes use a y-adapter to keep the left and right channels seperated when bridging. -
Nice score, amp looks good man.

Im just now getting a chance to look at this build log and must say bad ass car man, I remember my 5% tint days but here in Texas they only let us do that on the back window only. I always respected the GTI's once one kicked my ass in a race some years back. I would also recommend some tweeters for those speakers, nothing outrageous but you will want something to take on the higher frequencies. Hove wanted some tweeters too but he was to lazy to get some and put them in, he wont tell you that but I will. If you have any questions just ask. Keep up the good work and nice equipment, now you have me wanting to get a Crescendo BC5500 (damn you Mac).

haha it really is that way. Either way it is definitely not a very common car. I just like the way they just look like a proper luxury car. I'm subscribed to this one for sure Very true indeed, these and the Lexus with the same body style our always great to see especially in good condition. From the pictures you posted your car is in damn good shape. Idk what kind of headlights RL's have (Halogen I'm guessing?) but that car would look really good with HID's. A projector retro and bi-xenon's are the way to go imo if you ever wanted to think about it. Definitely not a PNP kit hahaha. Its a lot of work, but would definitely be cool if you ever were bored and wanted some sick headlights. Thanks for the tips, the lights arent on the todo list at the moment but I have thought about it since the plugs on the stock wiring arent in the best shape. I will definitely take that info down so when Im ready I will be two steps ahead of the game. For a 14 year old car, it is in great shape exterior wise. Some paint is fading so new paint job soon and minor dents and scratches. Seats are a little cracked but nothing bad or in major need of work except for the backseats where some kids look like they did some damage to it. But all in all, its in good shape just have some maintenance things I have to take care of that has put car audio on the back burner for a while. Transmission seems to be going now so another hold up but oh well no complaints on my end.
