Anyone that could actually help me with my install?
jcarter1885 replied to ShadowWolf9's topic in General Audio
You could easily do this yourself with some help from us on the forum or you can wait for someone in your area to chime in. They are taxing you pretty bad at that shop but thats what happens when you have to pay for labor, they just round the hours up to charge more. Considering you arent buying there equipment is my guess for the high install cost. You dont have a complicated setup to be honest with you, so installing it shouldnt be nowhere near $1300 or better. If you cant find anyone to do your car here on the forum try placing an add in craigslist for an installer or at least someone to make some rings for you, Im sure someone is looking to make some cash in this economy. -
Horrible thread, no vehicle information was given. Asking about a system for 12,000 watts (so-called watts) and not knowing what your doing or where to start is a disaster. Like we told you before you stop posting for a minute, think before you start making threads like these. This is just gonna be a guessing game thread with no build log whatsoever to speak of. headroom and showoff room is laughable as a reason to want to run 12,000 watts without given any information on electrical. Honestly how do you plan on supplying this 12,000 watt obsession, please enlighten us. Do you even have the car to run this in? Whats the biggest system you have ever had in a car. Calculating displacement means nothing for picking subs or comparing subs, if you want the formula search the internet since it is on here on many sites.

Moar POWER!

If you have to ask this question then no dont put 7k watts to a single sub, especially for a daily system. -

audiopipe amps

I would go aqx line over the ap line, those 300 watts wont be noticed to ear or on meter. -
If I built a system to be loud and I went with 1 15" Icon on 1k I would be disappointed. Everyone's version of loud is different, kind of a subjective word use to describe a sub. I'm sure people wont have a problem understanding what i'm getting at. Actually they will if they arent a competitor or driving around with a system capable of 150+ db's.

Do 1/0 if you plan on upgrading your equipment in the future, if not then 4 gauge will be plenty. -

This part here doesn't make sense to me, REGARDLESS of strapping vs not strapping with two smaller amplifiers are you not dropping each amplifier down to one ohm each? You still loose efficiency, dampening and sound quality. Even though amps are stable at one ohms compared to running them at 2 or 4 ohms, running at 1 ohm is still the less efficient method.

Which one? If it's the 4125 that thing is beast. 500w x 2 + mids = happy ending I don't know why certain companies always discontinue the good shit. In stacks of stuff I have, beleive it to be the 4080?? Does that sound right?? I'd have to check... Close but its the DSC480, SirLancelot has that one as well.

Damn that sucks man, I just started installing my 2/0 in my car as well. How you gonna compensate for the loss, hopefully you wont have to buy a whole new run of wire.

Its coming together nicely, your down the home stretch now man

People love complaining, either work on affording it or just go find something in your price range.
-
Have you officially nailed down the sub setup yet?
-
I would first hook up what you have and then if you feel the components arent enough then you can upgrade. But you might be suprised wth the SAX-125.2 and Bravox combo.

testing, moving box around, rebuilding box, flipping passenger side visor open while driver side is closed, more testing etc.

THANK YOU.... i was blown away by how many people SPOKE before they even asked a SINGLE QUESTIONS that MATTERS> my lord... im seeing more and more people are getting away from the TRUTH on this site. x2, especially from some people who never even hit higher than a 145db on a TL meter. OP it is gonna take more than some guessing on equipment to get a 150's on music. Give more information on vehicle and electrical specifics for a good start to getting you on your way to your goal.

Amps are looking real good man.

I doubt heat is a factor in Iowa. Like said above check all your wires and fuses as well. -
From the title I assume he is walling it

Took the cd to my local shop and demo'd it for them, they loved and want to buy some from you guys (I gave them you guys info). Good looking out on making a great cd.

Im thinking no but I dont have any reasoning to back it up, it may have something to do with the backwave or higher frequencies.

If you know how to run active then what is the point of this thread, not trying to be rude or anything. Saying you know how to run active and never doing is not the same as actually being able to run active successfully, been there and done that. Its more than just picking speakers out and trying to find crossover points before installing the speakers in the car.
