Alternator and Battery question
jcarter1885 replied to slim142's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
If your gonna go with 15" Xcons then go sealed, if you want a ported enclosure then 12''s will be the way to go. Like Shizzon said above, get an AGM charger to help charge your batteries. -
profile ap740 is amazing.

Haha yeah I used to own several Profile amps, the California edition. Nice cheap little amps that put out power but like said above just cause you can max your amp's gain doesnt mean its a great amp. It just means you have a very low signal coming from your source (headunit) so your allowed to run your gain's that high. -
Gotta love those Sundown 8"s, the more I see your build the more I want some horns under the dash. How do the horns like the power increase you gave them? Are they seeing the same amount of wattage as the 8's or less?

What were some of the gripes that people were saying about the MS-8 that seems to be corrected with this unit? Im curious to see if it is something that will affect me or not, Im currently shopping for a DSP for the upcoming build.

Some people grow up listening to music through headphones, in cars (stock systems of course) and at home with surround sound. The whole "rears mess up the sound" thing is confusing to me because it's all personal preference...How can you tell a person what the "right" way to listen to their music is? Sure you can suggest it, let them try it, but if they don't like it that doesn't mean they're wrong? I was without rears for...about 6 months. It sounded awesome. I got some rears and it sounds just as awesome? As long as he likes it it's just fine. x2, some people will never understand what you like the next person wont like and vice a verse.

Yeah they are cheap but compared to other super tweeters they are not harsh and are quite smooth without EQ'ing or tuning needed, well at least for my taste or the other super tweeters I have dealt with.

I didnt know you added ST200's, where have I been at. Upgrades, whats the plan?

That CRX is holding up well, i would hate to see 4 Q's, Bl's or BTL's in that enclosure.

how bout them Cowboys?

Port should not be on opposite side of the box as sub, so sub facing rear and port firing into the cabin wont work.

The same guy has 5 alpine 12's in the same style box, hits 146db and does hair tricks http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/102482-2001-chevy-impala-ps3-installed-page-9/page__pid__1682643__st__160#entry1682643 Could have better numbers and performance with less subs in same box, 5-12" subwoofers doing a 146db is not impressive.
-
I still would of went with a 15" but to each its own, Id rather give it a bigger box to help with the response.
-
I would of went with a 15" if that is all the space you have available for an enclosure to fit comfortable inside that trunk. You got room for batteries and amps as well as the box?
-
What are the voice coils on the subs? Why not use the Lanzar amp, is it a Optidrive amp? If so it should do the trick till you can get the amp you want

What fuse Size do I need?
jcarter1885 replied to Jd377's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Research buddy, the info was given to you earlier about fusing to the wire size. So find out what 1/0 wire should be fused at and go for it. -
Dude there is no way to tell, considering there are giving a sale right now im sure their build time has increased some since people are buying more equipment. 7-14 days plus shipping time (give or take some days), just be patient and you will get tracking soon enough.
-
I never gave you box recommendations or a frequency to tune at, dont get me involved in your failure.

Nice looking motor, what did the power rating increase to?

Personally i dont know so I let some others chime in on whether there is something in the industry that could help you out. The only thing i can think of is trying to sell your unit and finding an Epic-160. This way you can turn it on and off when you desire but since you have that unit now you can try out the rca switch to see if you can get the results you want. -

jcarter1885 replied to irvin productionz's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
It could work but the only thing I see thats holding you back is the fact your amp does not have more than one set of inputs to allow the two sets of rca's that would come from this device to be hooked up. You would have to unplug one rca when you want to use the unit and vice versa when you dont want to use the epiccenter. You could use y-splitters at the amp but I dont know if that would cut some of the signal down that would be going into the amp. -
I doubt it would effect the sound enough for someone who doesnt know what to look for or listen for. If you dont know what correct staging or imaging is then it really wont matter. Considering you have tweets up front with coaxials, your gonna have more highs up front in your face.

If you can do it I dont see why it couldnt work and yes it would be one hell of a cheap solution. Not to be downer but I just dont see it passing signal thru if its not on but if it does it would be cool beans. -

If he has the basic epic center that you mount in the trunk then yes it does not have an off position at all, regardless where control knob is. If you look at the device or the manual it tells you that, once it has a signal from the remote start it is turned on and always on thats why I got an Epic-160 so i can turn it on and off when I please. Honestly i really dont see how you can bypass it at all unless you unhook the signal going to or coming from the epiccenter. Regardless if you change subsonic filters or not it will still control the music and add bass to tracks.
