Help with preventing voltage drops?
jcarter1885 replied to Angelboy863's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Dont set your gain by how many batteries you have, learn how to protect your equipment and install it right before it causes problems. Your gain matches the pre-out voltage of your source (i.e. head unit). -
Amplifier class AB or D class for Highs?
jcarter1885 replied to daviddto's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
The only advantages I know Class D amps have are smaller footprints, usually dont draw as much current (not running as hot, more efficiency) and some have active/bandpass crossovers. Some say A/B amps sound better but I dot think the average car audio enthusiasts will hear the difference if there really is one. -
The 4Runner looks spiffy, cant wait to see what you do with it. Should be fun since you have more cargo space to make incredible videos with.

2 aq2200's or 2 Bc2000's....
jcarter1885 replied to SMpaintball78's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Pointless thread is pointless, both amps do pretty much similar power for around the same price. Strapped or not you wont hear the difference between the two different brands. Color of amps will likely be your deciding factor. -
show of hands of those who have ran the 4500D @.25 ohms
jcarter1885 replied to jonbearsmt's topic in Sundown Audio
You never know their could be a handful of people that do but dont get on the computer, not every competitor or hardcore enthusiasts get online or have build logs on forums. Like stated above Sundowns have a great protection network so even if most attempted Sundown amps probably protected before it happened. Why would someone want to run an amp at .25 daily anyway, just get a bigger amp thay does more power or multiple amps (just a general question)? $$$ It was more of a retorical question than anything, yes i know that space and money limitations are reasons why . But you cant save money when your constantly sending your amp off for repairs. -

I had a deal worked out for our demo truck at one time, but it fell through do to lack of contact. However, I think this will be a good addition for SSA. Seem a lot of people are happy with their products over all. With their amps hell yes but not the build quality of their speakers, i was let down quite a few times. -

Lethal Injection power handling
jcarter1885 replied to russelthalovemuscle's topic in Incriminator Audio
haha everyone Exactly people see that my status says "newbie" well im not i just dont use this forum much. But its cool i got a MB Quart 2k. Ive never blown a woofer. Ill be fine on that amp. Im not stupid. So yeah i think ill be just fine with my 2k and active set up. Oh what a "newb" is going active? Oh how did he know what that was? Ha ha anyway. Thanks SPL MAN. At least you understood what the question was. Didnt need to hear from people who dont own Lethal Injections but thanks for chiming in. Seriously? Why even ask the question then? If you have a fair amount of experience in car audio you knew the answer. Also, running an active setup is easy. Running it correctly is another thing. Who knows man, who knows people do crazy things. Sorry nobody held your hand and gave you a cookie cutter answer, we actually like to make you think and will give and in depth response. Having owned that particular sub or not I have enough sense to still give a valid response, subs dont break on there own the users who control them break them. I didnt read his status or look at his post count when answering his question, could care less about that. Seems you guys do more than comprehending answers, good luck with system. -
Lethal Injection power handling
jcarter1885 replied to russelthalovemuscle's topic in Incriminator Audio
So i guess you never heard there is no such thing as underpowering a subwoofer or think that a sub needs more than or double rms to reach its output. Nobody said it was something wrong with getting an amp that puts out more power than your sub is rated, it goes back to those factors i was talking about: music being dynamic, box size, etc. Reread and comprehend what is said, there are too many factors to decide what a sub can handle especially with the given information that was given. So if you have to ask and dont know what your doing, it would be safe to stick with rms ratings. -
welcome to your life. He's a busy man. Even team guys have to wait forever. I have better luck getting a response when i call, try getting in touch with Derrick(team nemesis) he can help you out as well.

Lethal Injection power handling
jcarter1885 replied to russelthalovemuscle's topic in Incriminator Audio
Correct and incorrect, head room can be bad a downfall if not used correctly. I wasnt sarcastic and gave a reasonable answer, in car audio there are no set answers especially when it comes to a speakers power handling. Just cause a coil can receive 900rms thermally doesnt mean that sub can take those 900rms mechanically in that box or setup and vice versa. So there is more to it then yeah get a 2000 watt amplifier and your set. -
Your dmm has to be off, most speakers read at an ohm load lower than whats its rated(nominal) at. The reactive load should be what it shows up as, most 8 ohm drivers i dealt wih read any where from 5.xx ohms to 8 ohms. Even my Neo-pros read 6.xx ohms

Seat belt bolt are not good grounds, OP I wouldnt try that ground spot if the terminal cant lay flat on a painted surface. Just my .02 -
Was going to be my question. Resistance will increase if the coil is hot. Same thing I was thinking, heat will change resistance.
