  1. Got 2 D3100's new they sit at 14.4volts , charged with the Intellicharger on 12volt / AGM Low / 25Amp settings and it charges them at 16volts according to my DMM. After charging for 2hours it went to float and I pulled the charger off them , now they are sitting at 15volts . Gonna check real resting voltage in 8-10hours . Whats the deal with my charger going so high on the 12volt setting ? That normal ?

need a clarification on "nice box"

Here is my 12" Fi Q in a 2.5cuft (displaced volume) enclosure tuned to 33Hz . Little box but its glued & screwed , double baffled .

    SDC ported box

Yeah you may have some problems with that box . First thing I see is the port area is alot for the final displaced volume . Your internal port of 2.25" H x 29" W = 65.25sq in 65.25sq in divided by 3.81cuft = 17sq in per cuft (over the rule of thumb 12-16sq in per cuft most builds are based off of ) Another problem I see is the height of your port is small for how long it is giving it close to 9:1 length/width (in your case height) ratio. The rule of thumb most go by is keep it under 9:1 , some like under 8:1 . Just stating my observation by the information provided , your box may have some port noise is all . If you reduced the port area you would gain internal volume .

    BTL 18 Box Design?

My design is about what your looking for , I am also going to be running a 18" BTL . My goal was 6ft^3 with all displacement's tuned at 30Hz , slot port . Sub up on top and port back . Box is designed to fit in my hatchback car so if the dimension's don't work with your space then it can be modified . Outside dimension's 17" H x 29" W x 34" D . Using .75" MDF I get an internal volume of 8.02ft^3 . Slot port of 5.5" W x 15.5" H = 85.25sq in port area Total port length is 32.75" , port board going into the box is 23", plus the .75" MDF face = 23.75" board length . Without the sub displacement this box is 6.39ft^3 tuned to 29.83Hz . With the sub the box is 6.13ft^ tuned to 30.47Hz . The top would be double baffled making the overall outside height 17.75" . The extra bit of volume provided by the sub cut opening with 2 baffle's of 1.5" H and 16.750" sub cut diameter make's the boxe's final volume ~ 6.15ft^3 tuned to 30Hz , 85.25sq in port area (13.87sq in per cuft ) The total port length to slot port internal width ratio is 5.95:1 . Cut Sheet and assemble in this order ~ Bottom - 29" W x 34" D Back - 15.5" H x 29" W Left side - 15.5" H x 33.25" D ( port side ) Right side - 15.5" H x 32.5" D Front - 15.5" H x 22.75" W Port - 15.5" H x 23" D Top - 29" W x 34" D ( need 2 of these with a 16.750" sub cut on both ) I am going to be adding some internal bracing with wooded dowel rods bracing the front to back , side to side , top to bottom , side to the port etc .

    SDC ported box

I get 4.93cuft using 3/4" MDF with the above measurements . That does not include the driver displacement or the port displacement . You need a bigger box , whats your maximum space height / width / depth ?

    how to reduce trunk rattling

Layer only works to a certain extent . The first is the thickest one solid layer will add . The second layer is only half as thick as the first at doing its job . It keeps going like this at the third and fourth untill it actually is doing nothing for you . It doesnt double your thickness like you may think . Example the first layer of FatMat is 0.26 , adding a second layer you will divide that thickness by 2 (0.13) and thats what you add to it . So with 2 layers you have a thickness of .26 + .13 = .39 . Third layer would be .13 divided by 2 = .065 , .39 + .065 = .45 . 1 Layer of Second Skin Damplifier is 0.44 and butyl backed so no asphalt smell and wont melt in the sun . 3 layers throughout your WHOLE vehicle of the cheaper priced FatMat at .45 VS 1 Layer of Second Skin Damplifier at .44 . Comes out probably at about the same price in the end . FatMat is basically Peel & Seal found at Home Depot , asphalt based stuff that will melt , smell your vehicle up of tar and is very thin . Before you start comparing prices compare the weight of the stuff your comparing . Raamat BXT is good for the money . Butyl with Asphalt filler backed , thicker at .38 (thicker than FatMat by .12 ). FatMat = $129.95 for 100sq ft shipped . Raamat BXT is around $240-250 shipped depending on where you live for 125sq ft . Second Skin is about $224 shipped for 80sq ft of there Damplifier . There is also Vexmat at 100sq ft at about $280-290 shipped , supposed to be good stuff .

    Box help

One on each side of my box . Leave enough slack of wire to where if you need to remove your sub , you can easily set it ontop of the box and unhook it . Positive + Negative -

Thanks for the great amps guys!

Whats your electrical setup ? Whats the going $ rate for the SAZ-3000D right now and who to buy from ?
  12. I was going to call Fi but damn they have no phone number listed . I have a 12" Q right now in a 2.58ft^3 @ 32Hz enclosure , built it for a smaller space . Now I have more room so I am steeping it up to 2 15" s . Already have my enclosure designed , 7.74ft^3 after displacements , tuned to 34Hz , 124in^2 port area . Going into a 1998 Acura Integra . Anyone know how much it costs? Or am I better off just buying new 2 15" s and selling the 1 year old 12" .
