my 2 year old broke his hand

the older one is helping me build a box currently. This one wants to help, but is just a tad small yet to actually help. Give him another couple years though, and he'll be working on enclosures with his big brother and I. If I don't teach them the finer things in life who will? It's my job as a father.

my 2 year old broke his hand

just tried some beef/dairy protein again a couple months ago, hoping he'd grown out of it, but to no avail. Made for sleepless nights of pain and cramping again. The pediatric gastroenterologist(sp?) said he may eventually grow out of it, but since he had a positive reaction to cut it out again. Said in the next little bit to give soy protein a try again to see if he still reacts to them as well... On the lighter side after waking up this morning he's discovered that it hurts when he hits his big brother with the cast.... I keep hearing him say "boom" followed by an immediate "ow wyatt" from the 5 year old... and thanks to all for the well wishes, we are going to disney world next week, so it should garner him lots of attention from the princesses...

my 2 year old broke his hand

it's the only thing keeping him growing. Can't digest half the proteins. took forever to find something that he could digest that didn't knot up his stomach for hours at a time in cramps. He only gets it at bedtime now, not during the day at all. When he needed more bottles a day, it was costing us a small fortune, even after my benefits paid 80%... It's fun when you double families monthly food budget just for one infant's formula... Soon hopefully he won't be even getting the bottle at bedtime.

my 2 year old broke his hand

they said cast for 6-8 weeks followed up by more x-rays with a pediatric orthopedic surgeon to make sure no further correction is needed. But he's taking it like a champ. One tough little fella.

    X-Con 18 Build

two 15's for the HT is nice. Wish I had the funds for something like that as I have a room behind my TV for electronics that I could build a box into so that they were front firing into the viewing room directly below the TV. Down the road perhaps. Nothing wrong with having it up some from time to time, or when tuning for a couple minutes here or there. It's the ones that seem to do loser laps around the block at all times of day trying to look cool. I set my gains in the driveway, and have turned it up to show a neighbor who asked to hear it a couple of times, but usually it's quiet by the time I hit my neighborhood. Plenty of commercial/retail areas that I drive through on a regular basis that I can turn it up and not fear waking someone up or angering a whole residential neighborhood. anyway, sorry, didn't mean to get your build thread off topic, so back to your build and pics...

brought home some wood - the plans...

some updates from today and Thursday night. 1/4 inch round over used on inside of port walls, as well as very small 45 degree angle pieces on all interior corners (would have coved them but my only cove bit for my router is too big for what I wanted). Still have to cut the side wall for the port side, (as previously mentioned accidentally cut 1" too short in my sleepy state of haste previously) and as such need to get some more wood. Will be using the 1/4" roundover on the front edge of the port opening as well. And 2 braces that will be installed later (one front to back, one top to bottom)

    X-Con 18 Build

my neighbors are always surprised when they see the sub box in my vehicle, as I always have it turned down before I hit my neighborhood. Not really one to disturb those I am close to. That and there was a kid at the end of my street that (has since move out of mommy and daddy's) always had his cranked all times of day and everyone hated him/his parents. Don't really feel like replacing him as the most disliked person on the block.

    X-Con 18 Build

Love the progress so far with the box build pics, can't wait to see install pics. I'm sorta in the same boat as you at this point in deciding which way to aim sub/port. But I haven't cut my hole for my sub yet so I'm still in the do I want to go sub up port back/sub back port back, sub up port up, or any other combo... Guess I'll make up my mind when I go to cut the hole. Best of luck and keep the pics coming. Let us know which way works best.

try them all and see which gives you the best response. That's what this hobby is all about, getting to try different things.

brought home some wood - the plans...

thanks all. like said above, might get a minute tonight to look at this but probably not, 12 hr shift tommorow followed by a union meeting and vote on a new contract, then camping for the weekend so progress from here is going to be slow.

he's very expensive. very, very expensive. But worth every penny at the same time. The little one in post #7 really wants to help too, but he's not quite able yet. Both love music, tools and anything I do, so I have many fun years ahead. thanks for the views and replies, hopefully get back at this next week, rest of this one is gonna be too busy.
  16. ok, that makes sense then. again, the workmanship looks phenomenal.

    slanted box

In my SUV what I did to secure the sealed enclosure I have in it was to take some flat stock steel from the local hardware store that had holes in it, bolted it through one of the UAS? (UAL?) anchors (meant for securing infant/child seats) and secured it to the box with a bolt and t-nut. Like this here: http://www.homedepot.ca/product/papc-1-3-8x36-slt-flats-zinc/956909

    grayta's 2012 Ford Focus Build

just showed that last pic to my 5 year old and told him isn't that beautiful? his reply, "no, it's handsome" and then explained because it looked masculine... love the box, looks awesome.
  21. box looks good. Nice workmanship. Why the green and red though? just out of curiosity. Wondering how it fits with the rest of the vehicle.

brought home some wood - the plans...

so pieces that I got cut today are: Top, bottom, front, back, and 1 side (messed up the other one), but, I no longer have one massive sheet of mdf taking up all of the space in my garage... Still to go: other side, inside port walls, bracing, cut hole for sub and assembly. So my big question at this point: Should I make the port serpentine, or L shaped? is there an advantage of one over the other?

brought home some wood - the plans...

so, some of today's progress: So at this point, I noticed that when I was drawing my lines for my cuts at 10 last night, The outside of the box on the port side that was supposed to be 3/4 of an inch longer than the opposing side I measured wrong. For some reason I marked 16.25" instead of 17.25" oops.... So I am going to need to go to my other supplies to get a piece big enough to cut a new one, but that's ok, since the piece I measured to short I can still use to cut to the right size to make on of my port walls, so that's fine. Also, I would've been able to get more done today, but this guy tried volunteering his assistance: So I had to keep stopping... Will be on 12 hour shifts the next two, then camping for the weekend, so, likely no more progress till next week.

    very sad today

came in to work to find out a colleague/mentor/trainer passed away yesterday of a heart attack at age 53 while cutting firewood with his son. Very sullen mood. He taught myself and many others at the staff college when in training, was our lead firearms instructor for years, and all around great person. The type of guy you could talk to about anything, and was always there for everyone.
  25. well, looks like this is the box that I will be building, started a thread in the build logs section, picked up the wood yesterday, have most of the pieces marked on it last night.
