Okay, so I guess the way the cooling is designed or the motor or something is causing loud air noise around the motor that is very audiable when the thing is invert mounted. There should be some kinda warning about this, as my whole install is based around the idea of an inverted driver. fml.

Hmm.. the magnet on my SP4 has no hole in the middle/bottom, just a flat sticker. Is that the same as your evil sencheezy? Bigjon, thanks but I just re-worked the box for now .
-
Direct quote from Nick @ Fi - "The cooling is definitely going to make noise, that's just a byproduct of it working properly." So yeah, the subs fine, but I assure you, if you mount this thing inverted you won't like it. So just a warning to others who might consider this - I think the way Fi designs their cooling makes their subs not so good for inverted.
-
Well I modded the box, ported it out and installed, it sounds normal now, thing slams.. just saying, IMO sp4's are NOT mean't for inversion.
-
im going to free air it a bit tomorrow to try and determine exactly what is making the noise more, but i dunno, maybe they were cooled differently?
-
Well, that is true, but I'd imagine something with less xmax, not as crazy of a motor, i dunno there has to be variables. I listened to an inverted jl w6v2 install before and didn't hear any noise like this.
-
Where the rear seats you to be, its about 2 feet back from the front seats. So its close to the ears and in the main cabin.
-
Well yeah, I mean I'll prob just try and sell it and find subs that have less noise. Blah just wanted the world to see the giant basket on those sp4;s.
-
na its coming right out of the motor, i put my ear up to it to find where it was coming from. this is a real downer, i'll prob have to sell the sp4, the whole point of the install was to be invert mounted. Where on The motor? Well I can't say exactly for sure, but it wasn't the sound of coils scraping, it seemed like air noise or something from the coil moving in and out, its probably a normal sound that no one hears when its mounted regularly. Its just really obnoxious inverted and its not going to work for this install. fuck. I'll prob free air it a bit tomorrow to make sure its not box related. What is making you not run it regularly in the box? Its aesthetics, the whole install was for looks. Also the box isn't deep enough now, about an inch shy so I'll have to make a baffle which will also now mess up the carpet.. my god.

They are catching up for one.. If you are not willing to wait for a quality built to order sub then you don't deserve it... buy off the shelf and join the others no reason to say anything about it on here lool its not reasonable to have a 2-3x delivery time than whats estimated. my install has to be done in a certain time period, i can't be 60 days out looking for the sub. just get one used instead. ?? profit. there should be an updated delivery estimation on their website when they are behind that warns of longer delivery times. i have no problem with them busy, i just should be informed as to what i'm getting into.

Suggestions on an 18 for a 06 Mustang Backseat Replacement?
silenkiller replied to silenkiller's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Decided to go with an SP4-18, going to be able to squeeze out 5.5cuft, I've modeled it and it still looks pretty damn good so I'm not worried. Its going to be nasty. -

Okay, so I'm wanting to build a box into my worthless backseat area in my mustang and reverse mount a 18 which should look sweet as hell. I'm not walling it into the trunk though, I dont /think/ anyway, it will depend on if I can fit it or not. The point is 1: to keep my trunk space open and 2: to avoid firing in the trunk at all to avoid all the nasty trunk rattles. 3: to look badddass. Here is a picture to get the idea, a mix of both is what I'm going for. Question is, does anyone have experience with mustang cabin responses, etc that can recommend me away or towards a specific sub? I'm going to have about 2500~ RMS to a single 18. I was thinking a ZCON initially, as its modeling really well for what I want, but as we know, its hard to say how it will end up once its actually in the car. I'm looking for low end authoritiy (love listening to electronic dance music and occasional dubstep) not end all high numbers. Not competing, just wanting to be an intense daily driver thats unique and likely to get broken into. I should probably mention the way the magnet looks is kind of important to a degree lol, I love the wild look of those FI neo magnents but damn so expensive. SP4 looked interesting but 3kw is out of the question I think. -

holy shit lol, well im just stuck trying to decide whether to get an sp4 18 or a zcon 18. Only really have like 5.5 CUFT to work with though, so I'm also concerned im going to be choking them out. -

Four 15 Xcon's, backseat of a grand am o.o
silenkiller posted a topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
Going to be squeezing four 15 xcons sealed in the backseat area of my grand am, off two aq2200d's strapped. O.O Thoughts? xD -
Woo. 177 bucks to my door. I mean how can you argue with that? Already have a 600 watt plate amp. So that's basically 177 dollars for bass in my room thats gonna easily equal the 600 dollar premade setups out there. Helluva deal. IMO Sure the IB setup would be better, but I can't cut a hole in in my wall at the moment. Gonna run sealed and maybe two separate boxes to position the sound better.

Just bought two blk friday X's for a home theater setup..

Hm everyone seems to want me to go ported and tune low. Won't I be killing my sub 20 hz output if I do that? Hm, interesting. I just modeled it in winisd at 20hz and you are right, it shows still being louder all the way to 10 hz. Didn't think it would do that! -
Are you able to do any alts for vehicles not listed on ur website? A 2000 Pontiac grand am 3.4 engine for example?
-
Hm, H.O. Alt for 2000 Pontiac Grand AM?
silenkiller replied to silenkiller's topic in DC Power Engineering
Well at the moment its 2,000, but id like to have room for around 4,000 eventually, assuming i can afford it. The more output the merrier. Granted there is a point where the return vs the cost is isn't worth it anymore. I.E. If it is like 200 dollars more for an extra 20 amps etc. I don't compete this is merely a hobby so I'm constrained by budgets lol Oh and I'd say 160 or more at idle seems to be the going standard. Of course the more the merrier. I guess if you have more than one option just let me know the price for both.
