i hope you weren't complaining either cause thats just stupid haha. shoulda got more help

not to mention he gets the first line of Xcons and will most likely have them up and running first. plus SSaudio is just an all around badass.

i've never had any experience with subs in a sedan. but i'm sure youll get enough base with either sub, and i know you'll be happy with either one, especially the Q. i recommend the Q personally, i own one in my small SUV, though mine is a 12" but i love it. sounds soooo crisp and clean in a 1.5cuft sealed box. and if worse comes to worse you can cut a small port in your rear deck (under the rearwindow, above/behind the seat) and it'll help alotttttt.

x2. i lvoe meh Q!

i heard that boats are pretty good things to tow behind a truck it could just be a rumor, but you can give that a shot! one time i heard sometime said they pulled a couple 4 wheelers! OMGYAIKNO!!1!I!1(oneone1one1exclamationpoint!) crazy eh?

i'd melt. i'm a winter guy anyways, snowboarding is my thing. are you seriously rollin around in 110 right now?!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA i get 11, when it's warmed up. it's HORRIBLE. i'm so ashamed i hope it's just this thermostat that's the main problem. it does have 196000+ miles on it though my dads 02 silverado 2500 LT with a plow gets 17 without the plow, 11 with the plow on but not plowing, and 6 while plowing.

my problem is i gotta take my whole intake manifold off! it's the stupidest thing ever, the whole design of this engine is! i couldn't tell ya model numbers, but you could just image a 3.0L V6(so they say theres 4 spark plugs on one side and 2 on the other !!" in a 91 pathfinder.
-
^^ ickk. lucky i wish my heater works. k, it works but my thermostat is stuck open. and living in alaska it takes me driving it at 60 for 15 minutes before the air is warm. just to clarify, not a warm CAR, but warm air outta teh vents. thats if i let it warm up for 10 minutes before i start driving. stupid pathfinder. i can fix it, i just don't have the garage needed. and it's too cold in alaska to do it right now.

aloha brutha. greetings from SSA in Alaska! were both too cool for the continental 48. =]

thanks guys. quite the welcoming bandwaggon here. yea i know jason does, he was the one i was referring too. but i forgot his name on ehre so i didn't say it haha. im glad to see you guys don't hate on the new guys over here. unlike at an old forum i used to go to.. Sounddomain. they bash on you so much it's actually really amusing to join the train. how is everyone
-
is there a science to it, or can you kinda just throw some in there?
-
so based off your guys's experience, and based on what YOU LIKE. what size box do you think would be good for keeping somewhat decent SQ (i know it wont be as good as sealed). but i want it to hit fairly hard... as hard as i can get it without losing too much SQ. any input would help. i just need to know where to start

hey thumper, are you the same thumper from SD? i reconized one of your other builds from over there. and this one too. anyways i got a question for the king. how much of a difference does the chamfered corners make? is that jsut for looks, or does it increase the flow to where it'll help in a box i would build?
-
well shouldn't everyone build to teh the manufactors specs regardless? i see what you mean by building multiple ported box's to see what you like yourself, everyone's views are different. but in my circumstance, any suggestions how i can narrow it down. basically what does each variable change in the result. such as: what happens if i have a 3" x 8" (for example, i really have no idea what a typical slot size is) slotted vs a 4" x 6" slot? what is the difference between a circular port and slotted port (i'm sure this is answered multiple times. i haven't checked but it's just another example) that kind of thing. if anyone has a link to something like this, like a FAQ, i would really appreciate it!

looks good dude. so your putting the plexi in the cutout correct? not ontop of the cutout? what color did you decide to glow it? and LED or neon?

so i really don't know how to explain what i need.. basically i need basic help tuning my SAE 1000D amp to get the most out of my Q. i know this is a pretty broad question and has been answered before, but i guess i'd rather just have specific help for me rather then reading up on other people's help. i've had the set up for a couple months now, probably early/mid november, had a "custom made" box from my local audio dealer. i don't doubt that they made it, i just doubt theres anything really fancy about it. and it sounds great as it is, but i really think that it can hit alotttttt harder then it is right now. atleast judging by what people are saying on the forums it seems like it would hit really hard. granet this is my first system, and i haven't really heard many other peoples. just one of my friends have 3 MTX 10"s. i know it won't hit as hard as that but i still want more out of it. let me know all the info you need. 12" FI Q with BP power. 1.5 cu ft. sealed enclsure Sundown SAE-1000D Mono block amp running at 1 ohm My rig is a 1991 Nissan Pathfinder. i had the audio shop put it all together for me due to me not being able to with work/school. and i haven't looked at the nobs cause i don't wonna change what they tuned it too if they tuned it at all. all i know is the gains are all the way down, i have kind of played with them, and i turn them up a little bit when i'm showing off. i know your not really supposed too, but it doesn't sound like it's doing anything wrong, and i never do it more then a minute just because i don't wonna damage it.. i'm a noob like that. so any help would be greatly apreciated!!!! how can i easily adjust it and know what to adjust to do what. any way i can get a noob explanation what each tuner knob does?
-
hahaha i figured that much! but i mean is it gonna be straight forward when i do that? like say .7 or 1 or 4 or what.. anyways yea i'll take some measurements as soon as i can, i was thinking about it today and i might just build a box over spring break.
-
how would i set teh dimm to check it?
-
i'm not sure if it's before or after.. the guys at the dealership just said a 1.5 cuft box. they went by the specs for it online, heres the jump. it says .8 cuft - 1.5 cu ft. i'm guessing after the sub cause .8 doesn't seam like much if it was before the sub. https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraudio.com/...view.shopscript scroll down to where it is labeled "Q12" and those are my specs for the sub..
-
yea i'll take a pic as soon as i can, but it will be a couple of days. i am unable to drive it right now cause of a foot surgery and i don't have it where i am staying, it's in our storage being safe from the snow. gotta love these alaskan winters. i wasn't going for "hitting really hard" but i would expect it to hit harder then it is. i did my research pickin it out, like most people buying there first system do. and i was planning on getting sq more then spl. hence the large sealed box. but i just don't think it's hitting as hard as it can/should be. since the gains are all the way down and its a 1000w sub, adn we all know how well those sundowns run. but i will get a pic of the amp settings asap NOTE: i forgot to say that my HU is a Pioneer P3000ib. there aren't a whole lot of tuning options on that HU if any of you are familiar with it, then you'll know what i mean. i'm actually really disapointed in that. but it's all i got right now. just to make the thread a little more interesting i got a pic of the sub in the box and all.. kinda pointless but thought i'd share. on a side note, now that i think about it, i'm not even sure if it's running at 1 ohm... i know i told them ahead of time that i wanted it at 1 ohm, but i didn't clarify. how can i check? without taking the whole sub out of the enclosure and seeing how they wired it..
