6,000 watts RMS AudioPipe Amps
tripslipfall replied to Ben Building's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Could you please get a video of that? -
oh I knew they were being massively overpowered.. I just didn't care lol. I hooked it up to .5 ohms which is about 7k on my amp and they are rated for 1k each.. go figure any vids of this episode? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he has 2 videos on Youtube, 2 12" RE Audio SE's on a Stetsom 7KD. Sorry if it's not the same person, but here's the videos. no, all of my videos are under the username Owners1 http://www.youtube.com/user/Owners1 Alright, my bad.

What are the cons of using a capacitor?
tripslipfall replied to holmesjohnson's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I remember running a 1000 Watt Crunch amplifier on stock electrical, and I hardly had any issues, voltage stayed above 12v most of the time. -

Honestly, I think you'll be just fine on stock electrical, go ahead and try it, and if it doesn't workout, then get another battery. -

What are those called that you put around the cutouts to seal it better? I can't think of the name of them right now.

Any updates??

Can I use 12 gauge wire instead of 4 gauge?
tripslipfall posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Ok, I'm making myself look stupid asking this, because I pretty much know the answer, (no). But, what if I do multiple runs of 12 gauge wire from the battery to the amplifier? The 12 gauge wire I have is from Sears, I have 500 feet of it, it says it handles 600V if that matters at all. Anyways, my real question is, how many runs of 12 gauge wire should I use to power the amplifier? It's gonna be running at 4 ohms, possibly 1 ohm later, it's rated to do 750 RMS at 4 ohms, 1500 RMS at 2 ohms, and it's 'unstable' at 1 ohm, but these are the same amplifiers Steve Meade used before he got his new ones, and he ran them at 1 ohm just fine after removing a certain diode, which I might do later. -

I'll see if I can find a place. Thanks. -

Yep. Oh well, time for some trial and error, maybe fire and explosion too. Shoot vids plz!! then post on Youtube and become famous. IF I live. -
Can I use 12 gauge wire instead of 4 gauge?
tripslipfall replied to tripslipfall's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Doesn't matter that much, I'm only 16 (17 in May), not in school, no job yet, just went to 21 places the other day looking for one, I'm a very quick learner though, I may seem like a total noob in this thread, but believe me, I'm not, I just have a hard time explaining things the way I see them in my mind. Thanks for all the help everyone. And, as a reply to blue fury, when I do get a job, I will be getting my own car and doing everything right, and as clean as possible. -

Ok, then I guess I'm stuck running a bunch of 12 gauge for now, unless 01 S 10 actually has some 4 gauge he can send me.:bigclap: -
Can I use 12 gauge wire instead of 4 gauge?
tripslipfall replied to tripslipfall's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
So a cap and 12 gauge wire is going to make the alternator put out more power? No, but a capacitor is supposed to give you some of that extra power that you need and help with voltage problems. And enough 12 gauge should equal 4 gauge or more, we've already figured that one out, I'm just trying to plan ahead in case that doesn't help with some of the voltage problems. -

tripslipfall replied to jrod1050's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Something by Pioneer or Alpine, look on www.sonicelectronix.com or www.onlinecarstereo.com Sonic has better prices and better descriptions, but everything is around $15 for shipping, and Online Car Stereo has most the stuff Sonic has for around $5 more and any order over $100 is free shipping. So look around on Sonic for one you like, then buy it from OCS, or eBay... -

Yeah but I've already figured out that a bunch of 12 gauge will equal 4 gauge, if not more, so if I still have voltage problems after that, I'll just get a cheap cap, but I'm not sure what size cap to get. I'm thinking around 2 farad, the manual on Rockford's site says 1.5 farad, but I wanna get a cheap off brand one, like Boss or something. NO Ok ok, jeez... lol sorry it's so blunt but the lasagna finished cooking. Really, you'd be wasting your money to go this route. In the money it takes to buy a cheap cap, you could get all the used 4g you need. Yeah, but would it really be worth it to buy 4 gauge when the alternator probably can't handle it? It's only a 75 amp alternator, the amplifier draws around 100 amps on music according to the manual. -

I live in Portland Oregon, and I'm not sure how much I would need, enough to get from the battery to the 2nd row seat in a 93 suburban. -
JVC KD-AVX44 EL KAMELEON
tripslipfall replied to jrod1050's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
It might of just been the one he had, and besides, I was only playing a MP3 CD, it might respond faster on other functions. But while it was playing the CD, it took forever to turn the volume up or down, or do anything for that matter. -

Someone I knew had that head unit, I don't know if it works with an iPod, but the one thing I remember about it was it had really slow response time when pressing buttons. -

I don't know anyone, or I would. I've already decided to go ahead and take the risk of just using 4-6 runs of 12 gauge since it equals about the same, and like someone said previously, electricity is stupid, it's not gonna know the difference between a crap load of 12 gauge and a single 4 gauge.
