Where can I get rubber gaskets?
tripslipfall replied to tripslipfall's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
That might be what I end up doing, I need some to try to fit on some really old Orion XTR 12's. -
Installing a H/O alternator
tripslipfall posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
What exactly do you have to do? Is there anything special? Just disconnect the cables and put the new one in right? -
Hey, I just built my first box. 2.18 cubic feet tuned to 34hz, for under the seat of a 2003 Silverado. The box sounds great, but looks horrible. So, my questions are. Do you use wood glue to hold the box together? Or just screws? Do you use screws or nails? What type of silicone do you use to seal the box? Help is greatly appreciated. And for those wondering; the box was built for an RE Audio SX 10", so far we've tested it with a Soundstream SPL 10" and it sounds great, the RE should be here in a few days.

Anyone know about MA Audio HK1997?
tripslipfall posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
My friend has this amplifier, and I've been looking on various websites, and everywhere says it does 1200 watts RMS into 2 ohms, anyone know if this is true? Because I can get this amplifier for very cheap, it has a problem though.... It doesn't turn off. As soon as we connected the negative wire, it turned on, remote wire wasn't even hooked into the amplifier yet. But anyways, does this thing really do 1200 watts RMS into 2 ohms? -

Well I'm not expecting to get a ton out of it, only about 800 watts RMS, I've got a pretty good stock alternator, 130Amp, and my voltage stays in the 14.4 range at idle, I ran a Rockford BD1500.1 without big 3 at 3/4 gain and had no voltage drops at all, and that's a 1500 Watt RMS amplifier, sadly, it got stolen. I can get the MA Audio for $50 and I have a 120 amp relay that I can use if I need to. EDIT: Is Profile's stuff any good? Because I have 2 12" Profile Baja's that are 250 watts peak, I have no idea what the RMS is. I got the pair brand new for $15 off Craigslist. -

It will probably be powering an older Orion XTR 12, DVC 4 ohms, 800 Watts RMS. -

I don't have the money for a new amplifier, that's why I'm getting this one, I can even fix it before I buy it, I'm almost certain theres something shorting it out and it could take about 5 minutes to fix. If not, like I said, I'll just use a relay, it's all I can afford. As of right now, it looks like I'm gonna be getting either this amplifier, or a 1000 watt Crunch that has bad solder on the RCAs, but if this one is 1200RMS, I'd much rather get it. -

Well obviously I plan on fixing the amplifier before I use it, and if I can't fix it then I'll use a high power relay. And yes, I had the RCAs plugged in, but unplugging them made no difference, and it wouldn't output audio until we hooked up the remote wire, which is strange because the amplifier was already on. But I'll figure it out before I actually use it. Anyone know what the real ratings are? I'm guessing it's 1200Max, not 1200RMS, but everywhere I search says RMS. -
What's the best way to build a box?

I'm assuming liquid nails are between $4 - $6? If so, I'm definitely trying those next. Also, what does everyone use to make perfect cuts to exact dimensions? -

Where do you get Liquid Nails? -
I just got a 16Kv.2 for free, the spider was destroyed, and the cone and coil were both seperated from the spider, does anyone have a recone kit? eD doesn't sell them anymore.

Has anyone tried them? http://cgi.ebay.com/BassX-SubWoofer-High-performance_W0QQitemZ320242665871QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSpeakers_Subwoofers?hash=item4a8ff3498f&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116

It seems to be around 10.1 cubic feet tuned to about 28hz. -
Ported box for 2 12" Orion XTRs?
tripslipfall replied to tripslipfall's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
I owned 2 of these when they were new and ya they were pretty loud in small enclosures, 2.5 would be fine. they really did take a pounding, at the time most people around my way described them as being able to be literaly kicked and not miss a beat. I had them in a custom (and small esp. for the time) bandpass enclosure in the trunk of an '88 Pontiac Grand-Am w/ a ton of room left over, if ur familar w/ those cars they have pretty small trunks. GL with them, Im a fan of them, post a pic of the box when ur done if you would. I also might have the original paper work fromn the factory, if I do they are under tons of papers so may take a few days to find but I'll def. look for you. I'm trying to decide exactly what I wanna do with them, I may do 5 cubes like jj1479 suggested, but I need something to power them with, my Rockford Fosgate BD1500.1 is invisible now. -
I want them to pound, but I don't want them to take up all my trunk space, I want the box to be tuned around 32hz, so does anyone have any suggestions?
-
1) It depends on the length of the port. 2) I think you do but I'm not sure. 3) Two of these should get you right around 27hz in 5 cubes, just be sure to make them each 17 inches in length. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=268-352

He's already determined that it's not the RCAs, he unhooked them and hooked the amplifier directly up to the battery with nothing but the speakers plugged in and still got the noise, so it's not a ground issue or an RCA issue.

OH MY GOD!!! That's probably the most flex I've ever seen, and you do it with only 2 18's! Do you have a build log on here or anything? I'd like to know what electrical upgrades you have.

Maybe you should sell it.?

Any updates??
