    Jay-C76's 2005 Ranger Install

Maybe I should get Adam to write my review for them...LOL So far I'm very impressed just by them visually and on design software! They are some stout, beefy, and stealthy looking subs for sure. No glitz and glammor where it's not needed. All the cosmetic details that most companies put into the back end of the subwoofers look cool when in the store but, i'll never see that once I drop it into an enclosure... That stuff just drives up a price that's passed on to me, the consumer.. SSA keeps a simple design that is physics wise, strong as they come. No lame decal or logo rubber trim on the magnet...(more added cost!) Just one plain sweet lookin' subwoofer! With guts like a rhino on steroids!!!

I want to BUY a new sub : SSA Icon 15

I have the new compact models, T400-4 and a T1500-1bd, They are very nice! Both deliver nice clean seriously under rated watts... My T1500-1bd should power 2 Icon 15D1's nicely. I may be able to make that comparison if I can get my bud at the meter the same day I do mine.. He has 4- T115D2's, if I could get him to cut power to either his left or right channel amp I could get a fair comparison between the 2 on nearly the same rms wattage. My bet is that the Icon's will crush the R/F's..

On the edge of my seat now! The subs should be in your hands soon! That's when the real madness starts!!!!

I want to BUY a new sub : SSA Icon 15

I remember when he blew them and then disected the woofers.... What a piece of garbage! Thread thin coil wire! I was in the middle of an install with 4-15" T1's, I kinda felt bad going through with the install after that. Looking at them in a different light... Just gives me a better reason to put up more solid number with my SSA's!! I'll never switch back to R/F subs in my own installs..... I still like their Power Series amps though.... (I duck and cover my head as I say that on here, but I'm an honest guy)

    Where does everyone get there.....

Parts Express for simple amps...(maybe for starters) But if I was going for something very nice...I'd recommend Crown home theater amps... http://www.crownaudio.com/amps.htm As for the actuall subs, Nothing beats a good car subwoofer in a well made enclosure. (watch ohm loads!) All other speakers I'd have to really shop around or either use several car components..(once again watch ohm loads) Heck if it's good enough to jam in the ride it's good enough to jam watching movies on the couch!

I want to BUY a new sub : SSA Icon 15

Nice choice! I just bought 2.... Compared to all the subwoofer's I've held in my own hands, SSA builds one heck of a solid woofer! I'm in the middle of my install and haven't actually heard them yet. But, with the visual impression they should be louder than and better SQ than any Fosgate sub i've heard. And that goes for even the Power HX2 15....

I haven't put it in yet. I still have +100 sq.ft. to install. Thanks for the comments guys! Thumpper's trained me well on the enclosure skills. I tip my hat to him for sure! It also helps that I've been woodworking since I was 9 , so power tools are no fear to me.... My father used to have a nice shop building custom desks and furniture. Plus a little sanding goes a long way! I did a little work today but nothing worth posting up pics, unless you like to see mitered bracing......

Whew! Almost finished with the enclosure!!! Oooooooo, shiney new router!!!! I still have to fill some screw heads on the sides, add in the amprack, paint, and wrap the sucker. Then it's on to the side pods for the rear 6x9's, and secondary battery rack.

Spent a few hours on the enclosure today. I figure one more day and it'll be painted & wrapped.

Single 12 xcon + BJ fisher box

Interesting enclosure design... Why is there an added chamber area for the port opening? Nice gear! Now get some of that cable under the hood!!!!

A little city called Harrison, 15minutes from Cincinnati. After the enclosure's done the tree will fall!!! LOL It caught a disease last fall and all the needles dropped.

Send him some warm air too!!! I'm dying to see him start this enclosure! I say at least 4-5 full sheets of material. Mine's on 3 and may need a fourth!

Sunny and in the 70's today! Time to carve on the enclosure for these Icon's.... Dual common chamber 8cf3 plus displacements tuned to 29hz. Just a few more nice days and it'll be time to slam it into the bed for some marks. The rear of the enclosure will house the amp rack, and maybe the secondary battery if space allows.

    10" Single DCON Build

I hear that. worked the night shift for a long time. Not so fun when it comes to running errands and everything is closed. lol I work nights often as well. Nothing like waking up at noon and waiting to go to work. The lack of traffic on the highway is nice though!

12" W7 Common Chamber Regular Slot Port

Just a regular volume calculation. If you wanted to figure each individually, (L x H x W / 1728) / 2 Is how you figure volume of a triangle. It basically volume of a rectangle cut in half.
