Thanks! I can't wait to actually hear my Icon's again! It's been so long (about 8 months ) When I pulled them back out for a test fit, I forgot how beefy these puppies are!

Jay-C76 replied to Mark LaFountain's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
Very Good , shouldn't be a problem at all. Sweeeeeeet! I know what I'm doing next! I hope the prototypes perform to full expectations. I'm glued on this test, can't wait for some woofer porn! -
ICON Prototype 12" Temp build

What's the possibility of a recone kit for the older (last years) Icon's being upgraded to this newer style? -
tease! LOL

so he's bending 1" plexi ????? This should be cool to see. Yesterday I tried to bend some 5/8" Lexan.... Long story short it was a disaster. I tried to lightly heat and use a power roll at work, then a power brake, then by hand.... Maybe I was too impatient though....LOL

Thank you! I use a circular saw, 2 drills, router, and 2 sanders. As for how it'll fit in the rear of the truck, it's simple I took measurements and planned this build since Christmas! LOL It's 52" wide which give me 1/8" on each side for the cap clamps to clear. The "hood" part is going to be real tricky... It's going in after the enclosure gets shoved into the bed. My buddy James and I were thinking and measuring at the tailgate, we think the enclosure will be able to slide right in without having to take the cap off like I needed to when I put my last one in. I can lift this by myself, barely......LOL I just need some help so I don't bash the hell out of everything when I put it in. It's way too humid and windy to primer the port today, so I'm off to go sand some screw holes! (weeeeeeeeeeeeee!)

Almost done with the main enclosure. Just some details left on this. I spent a good solid 2 hours so far sanding the flares till they're smooth as silk, ready for some primer!

Truck off, head unit off, amp on...

just get one with a high amp rating.....like say 50amp would be more fine. -

It's worked many times for me. I actually see this issue a lot with H/U. If the remote wire ever grounds out, there is no real protection for it as far as the H/U is concerned. So, in a pinch you can use a constant power source with a switch in the line that acts like you turning on the H/U. You may actually pick up a slight "thump" sound when you turn it off and on but I've never seen it hurt anything. -

It may be an internal thing that a new harness won't cure. -

Remote wire on my H/U doesn't work.. no idea why, just doesn't. I was talking to a friend on here and he suggested to tap into another wire thats fused as well. So, we decided on the ignition/power wire that is "key on" so i did so and it worked wonderful, except for now.. Easy fix then, Tap a wire from the battery. Then splice in a toggle switch. (not a cheap plastic one either) I get them from NAPA usually, look for a big amp load so it don't fry. tap the other end to the amp. -

get er' right again, then wiggle each wire individually and find the short. It may be in the harness on the rear of the H/U....(if wires got smashed too tight) -

I wasn't talking to you! LOL (joking) I was trying to inform..... I'm totally picking up what you're layin' down, when in doubt use the process of elimination. If you know which is the chassis ground, clamp that and don't move it. Then proceed to eliminate wires by turning on and off the ignition and watching for a controlled response. -

The remote wire is like a switch that once a 12v current flows to the terminal the amp kicks on. The remote is getting constant battery power instead of a switched/ interrupted power source. -

I bet you used the "clock wire" (usually yellow) as the remote instead of the acc. wire. ????? The remote should only come off the wire on the H/U - nothing else.... Most H/U it's either a blue wire or blue with white stripe. Sometimes marked "power ant." or "acc." -
Hey I just noticed you replied haha. You comin to slamology?? June 19th I think. Oh yeah! And the Ranger will be competing too!

That's funny sh-- right there! LOL

Oh, we have rocks too! Harrison is one giant gravel pit with 3 rivers flowing into the Ohio. There's Dandelions all over the yard too! LOL My kids always pick em' before they bloom. (Hillbilly weed control! LOL)

Mikey, find a camera!!!

So, when my install is done can I come down for a meter demo?
-
Oh yeah I have about 6 people for sure who want to hear THIS enclosure when it's done. The last one I had to remove my truck cap and drop the box in....LOL I'm wondering if it might, just might, slide right in there.... The hood, (for lack of better words) will really set it off and reflect the sound waves into the front instead of wasting it through the rear cap.

Well I chopped out a few panels and played with some F/G resin...... I turn my back for a few minutes and......... Here's my son who thought it looked kinda like a race car... Now I feel like this freaking rain is trying to make things personal! As I was cleaning up a wind started brewing. I walk around the back side of the lot to see this coming! It should be constructed for the most part tomorrow! (Providing the rain really isn't stalking me!...LOL)
