I just got done wrestling a giant hunk of MDF!!! LOL I managed it solo......not easy.... Here's some pics! Just enough space for the gasket to seal tight on the cap. Still space for any other bracing if needed. (but not too much space..LOL) The back wall slope matches the slope of the windshield also. Now it's the amp rack that I need to glue up, run a few wires, and install the new alternator. Then it's test time!!!

Sorry for not having any new pics..... About an hour into working, I bashed the top of my head on a shelf in my shed. I gave myself a nice little gash that as all head woulds do, bled like crazy. No stitches for this one though it isn't very deep...(according to the ole' lady) I felt like such a total idiot! I need a stupid helmet, I always hit my head on stuff. LOL Today is a total washout... Raining buckets here so, I'm going to sand the port and get it ready for the finish coat of paint. And yes, I plan on attending both days of the show. I'll get my new windshield installed next week so there's no doubt the seal will be set up and solid by Slamology!

There's a thread for Slamology with links and stuff already on the forum, Slamology.....Central Indiana - SSA Car Audio Forum Hope to see ya there man! A few members from here are going as well. MI....I haven't been up there since I was a kid. LOL Thank you for the compliments!!! Well, I have one more freaking panel to cut and it's too dark to see out here so........ HERE'S SOME PICS!!! (only 4 of them sorry..) Tomorrow she slides back into the Ranger for a final test fit !!!!! Carpet may have to be a later on kinda thing. I still have the amp rack to fab up, plus a few other details that are more important before I compete at Slamology 2010.
  16. I have a suggestion?! Get lots of video's Oh hell yeah!!!! I'm even taking my power converter so I can recharge the battery on the video camera!! Now what class should I enter as or do I just say heck with it and show up hoping they'll be cool and help out? P.S. yeah yeah I know..... get out there and finish the box........LOL I'm stepping out right now.....
  17. I agree 100% I have had three of these brand amps and they aren't rated properly for starters. Plus I never had one that ever lasted a year. Simply a garbage amp in my book....

Thanks a lot for the comments guys! The main construction should be done today as long as it doesn't start to sprinkle on me. The angles really mess with your head when you're getting ready to cut. One wrong measurement or cut and the piece is junk....LOL Man I want to hear this so freakin' bad but, I don't want to rush it and have a poor construction error turn into an install nightmare... More pics tonight!!!!!!

  20. I can get a 2" radius with kerfs. I can do a smaller radius but there's a point where you can remove too much material when you do the kerfs. I'm sure that enclosure has had tons of body filler to get that smooth look. Plus One hell of a skin of paint!
  21. The resin goes on the back side to fill the voids created by cutting the kerfs.
  22. Kerf cuts and some complex miter cuts..... Not a first time try kinda thing. It's an art that really takes practice to perfect, especially a quad flare.

Well, I managed to squeeze in some work between rain storms the past couple days. Here's the shelf that will hold the secondary battery in the rear. Trevor don't laugh at my welds.....I just started to learn how 2 weeks ago....LOL Here's the tracks that will hold the hood to the enclosure. Time to carve out the sides and see how they fit. They're on a 12-1/2 degree bevel to fit the window taper. And.........guess what this is for! (It should be obvious.....LOL) I'll keep my eye on the sky for a chance drag out the gear and try to finish this dang thing.

I am going to jump off a cliff!

Bracing like this: It's a 2" wide strip with 45's on each side so they sit perfect in the edge seams. About the glue... Coat the edge of the panel that is to be butted to the surface of the other panel. When you screw the pieces together the glue will squeeze out of the edges. Wipe the glue on the outside, and if needed add a better glue bead on the inside of the seam. Then proceed to feather the bead lengthwise across the seam kinda like soothing a bead of caulk....
