    Kerfing.

Awwww....... The way you work with wood is an art. Ten thousand people could try this and never perfect it the way you have. Plus, it encourages new designs to be thought of. Anyone can build a box.....It takes a master to create a masterpiece. And I would be proud if people wanted to "copy" my designs, It would only mean that I'm doing something people actually like! You're like the Yoda of enclosure designs !!! All the rest of us aspire to do the great work that you do, or even to just come close.

Nice truck! No stranger to danger, it's a Ranger!!!!! I was wondering where you put all the batteries. Obviously in the back...LOL I can't wait to see the new build.

    Kerfing.

I'll work on it and post on up. It should be pretty cut and dry, and I'll add pics too. Heck it has to at least help somebody who want to try it. It's not an easy thing to master, but with good directions and practice, it should be easy to get down.
  4. As far as I know there are no more re-cone kits for these from Rockford Fosgate... I have one as well R/F Power HX2 15". It makes a great paper weight now though...LOL

    Kerfing.

When I do flares, Set the saw at 11/16" deep and space the cut every 3/8" apart. 1/16 of material is plenty to form a perfect flare. any deeper and and you can snap the flare when forming. (trust me I've done my fair share of flared ports) A 3" radius is generally easy to work with. Also drill holes 5/8" deep, staggered on the lines. This will help the Poly Resin to fill the voids in the kerfs better by allowing air bubbles to escape an rise to the surface. If the cuts are too shallow you'll wind up with splitting along the kerf lines on your finished side. Also use a sacrificial piece of wood clamped to the bottom of the piece you are cutting the kerfs on. This will keep the panel flat and insure the depths of each cut are true and consistent. Oh, and like mentioned above PRACTICE first!!! ( I should do a complete write up on this, lately I've been seeing a ton of Q's about this)

Got any pics of the old Ranger???? I'd love to see it if you do! I love me some Ranger builds!!!
  9. ^ learn something new everyday. i never used that wire. and i hate how bright my HU is sometimes lol. But it doesn't always work with some H/U. My JVC KDSH1000 has built in dimming that you pre-set according to the time of day. So, the dimmer switch does nothing for this H/U

  11. I'll be there early on Saturday because....well I'll be honest, I don't know what the heck to expect when I get there. I'll have a bud of mine that helped me out a little on the build, with me also... Mikey should remember what my truck looks like, he heard the last install I did. These Icon's should put up some decent numbers with my new design, but I'm there for the fun of the show just wanting to see my actual DB and to rep. the wonderfully awesome world of SSA!

Here's the Icon's dropping a sweep. Half way through you can hear my pop can working it's way out of the cup holder..... My bud just caught it before it took a dive on the floor. Sorry, I tried to upload this to YouTube like 20 times and kept giving me an error... I finally got it!

My thoughts exactly! They hit the whole scale cleanly!! You guys really pulled the right mojo for these Icon's! Hands down the best SQ sub I've ever had the pleasure of hurting my ears with! Saying these suckers are loud is an understatement for sure........ Their ability to move air is unreal!

    Steel Enclosure

I was wanting to do something like that in my build but, I don't have the $$$$ to mess with the suspension right now. But it looks packed in there pretty good! I'll be watchin' for this one when you're done.
