Broke down and joined Facebook. Never thought I'd see the day.

Just trying to keep in touch.
The daily grind has caused me to fall out of the loop.
Look me up, my name is Jason Carlson (harrison, oh)

I still feel young, what makes me feel old is that I've lost contact with many friends from the past. Living the daily grind and family life on top of that, I guess I've let time slip by way too fast. Gotta make time to " stop and smell the roses!".

Love the screen name there Bob!

Hell I'm gonna soak up the weather with a trip to the local park and crankin' out some yard work jammin' tunes!!! Might even go for a nice little drive around town, just like old times when I was a young pup.

That's up for debate, I don't think anyone has ever stress tested to confirm but, I've never had an issue with it. It's been my experience that when it soaks in it makes the MDF more dense/ harder, but not making it brittle. MDF is a porous material and will leak air to an extent. I actually coat the inside lightly on all of my builds.

my failure???? and i meant jay-C76 Hell Lantz, my bad, I thought you weren't gonna do this box build. I'll send ya the design before the weekend. Get Google SketchUp (it's free) so you can view the design. side note- cut Lantz a little slack guys. He's new to the game (compared to most of us) and is trying to "bass on a budget". He may ask some questions that to us may seem dumb. He's trying to learn, (the hard way sometimes) but all in all at least he asks question instead of assuming.

Good deal Sean, but I gotta wait till next year bro. Going for a epic install and I'll need a meter for tuning. -
how to go about wiring 2 zr240's.....
Jay-C76 replied to SMpaintball78's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
You could run one amp to one coil and the other to the opposite coil. As long as the amps are 1 ohm stable. Be very careful when doing this b/c you can get settings wrong and wind up doing some damage to the coil. Just back the volume off if you see, smell, or hear any signs of something wrong. -
Heck, for a single 10 it wasn't bad sounding. It was a definite difference after going from my truck to yours but then again I'm running a lot more power and cone area.

SSA ICON Series out of stock
Jay-C76 replied to Mark LaFountain's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
I'll maybe be getting either four 18's or 15's. First I have to sell off the Icon's I have now and a R/F T1500-1bd. The amps been taking up space on a shelf ever since I got the AQ3500. I hope the prototype works out because I've been waiting for this day for some time now! -

It all depends on what frequencies your vehicle will peak at. Plus is your goal SPL or listening to music? Tuning low will most likely not do well in comps unless you are doing a very high powered system. My enclosure is tuned at 28hz. and my truck install peaks at 32hz. In my case it's not really ideal for trying to win a DB Drag. With cheaper subs I would not try to tune them low due to over excursion which will cause the subs to bottom out. Larger port area generally reduces mach percentage which has an effect on the "huffing" sound produced from the port. It also has an effect on the actual resistance the sub sees while trying to hit each individual wave cycle produced by each freq. note. Longer ports will give you a lower tuning and shorter will give you a higher tuning. Port area and port length go hand in hand as far as actual tuning. Change the port area and the port length will change as well to keep the same desired tuning.

1 amp per solo x, which would be better???
Jay-C76 replied to SMpaintball78's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I wouldn't use Optima batteries even if they paid me to.... They really aren't meant for high power audio installs.
