Here ya go guys... enjoy! BTW, I hope not to catch any hell from running the 8 guage speaker wires through the port

Chicken, I had my Q in a very small sealed enclosure for its "break in" period (or my ported box building period rather) and the difference is night and day with the ported box. The bass was hella tight in a sealed enclosure, however it was very small so that is kinda typical. With it ported it sounds just as good, not missing a beat. The lows are tremendous and I think you would greatly benefit by using this type of enclosure. BTW, thanks to all who left me comments on my "build"!!

Thanks SS & Rob

I have been thinking about sealing it into the cabin... the trunk flexes soo much that you can damn near see right into it. I am scared to crank it up while raining. This would take care of my trunk rattle as well.

Thanks Blazer... I appreciate the coment! And, yes db, this is a Q15 (4 cf. @ 32 hz.) and a Cadence iA7. Sounds amazing! I did not think I wanted a "loud" system anymore, but now I am considering going with 2 12" Q's or even checking out 2 12" ICONs. My love for bass is back after a couple years out of the scene.. and wanting more.

Check out Jason @ Powermax Electronics for a great deal on a Cadence iA7. I am using this on my Q15 and love it!

O-Scope in MI??
BigPun1982 replied to BigPun1982's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Sweet, glad to hear of some members from my area! As far as shows go... Mr. Tunes (a shop I worked for in 2000) usually does a huge show in Jackson, MI in late July/Early August. I have not been in a couple of years, but it used to be a couple hundred "bassrace" cars there. -
I have installed the Infinity 3.5's in the dash of my 300C. I have also ordered 6X9's and 6.5's to complete the surround. Just running off of the factory Boston amp, which does pretty well. I went with the Kappas, they also produce the Reference line. IMO, these sound really good! They can be a bit bright for some, and maybe a lil tinny to others but they can achieve high volume with little distortion. Also, Infinity speakers are produced at 2-ohms, or what their marketing department likes to call "True 4-ohm" to compensate for impedence rise. That being said, you should get efficient use of the power that you supply to them.

quick question
BigPun1982 replied to danieln_88's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
A few years ago when I installed for a living, I remember having to replace a 5 amp fuse under the hood when doing radios in some Fords.... primarily Taurus's. You may want to check there if it is a premium sound setup. -
I have the 8 speaker Boston Audio "premium" system in my 300C and have recently upgraded the (3) 3.5" speakers in the dash to Infinity Kappas. A very bright sounding speaker. I am looking to replace the 6X9's in the rear deck and front doors, but in order to get the most out of the factory Boston amp, I would like to find 2-ohm speakers similar to the infinity dash speakers that I have already replaced. However the Inifinity 6X9's take quite a bit of power (and will not be adding another amp), are there other brands that make 2-ohm coaxials??

I received my Fi Q15 yesterday!! I ordered it with the BP option and a Red dustcap to match my car. This sub looks amazing!! The build quality of this Fi product is better than that of other brands. I was really impressed with the multi stranded woven tinsel leads. I cant wait to install it this weekend. I am finishing up my box (4cf @ 30hz.) and will be running a Cadence iA7 in a 07' Chrysler 300C. I'll make sure to post pics when completed. Thanks to everyone who helped me make my decision and especially to Scott and the crew @ Fi!!!
-
Completed the install on Saturday night... I will post pics when I get time tomorrow. This sub absolutely slams! I've been through a lot of the mainstream products such as Eclipse 8200 (?), JLW7, Kicker L7's, Diamond AudioD6's and a bunch of cheap s**t while installing @ Best Try (buy). This sub hands all of the other their ...... Even in a large ported box (4 cf @ 32 hz.), it remains very musical. Playing "Air Forces" and "Late Night Tip" I think drained my ear infection I have a Cadence iA7 running the sub and it could take a lil more IMO, I have the BP option and it takes the 1000-1200 watts like a champ. However, I did the Big 3 upgrade and my lights as dimming worse than any other vehicle I've had. And my 300C has a 160 amp alt! Would just adding an additional battery correct this problem without getting a bigger alt??
-
Here are just a few of the sub and one of my car. I will post install pics up Saturday night!
-
I'll post pics of the sub with the red dustcap i the morning when I get to work. Also, will make sure to add install pics on Saturday when I'm finished. I kinda want to call into work on Fri to do it instead... plus its gonna be close to 60 degrees up here in MI on Friday finally.

Here are my details: 2007 Chrysler 300C (Huge Trunk) Fi Q15 (With BP option) Cadence iA7 (1000 wrms @ 12.8?, 1200wrms@ 14.4) Big 3 Wiring Upgrade Listen to primarily Rap/Hip Hop & R&B Q#1- How far below the tuning frequency of a ported enclosure can you listen to a sub without causing damage?? Q#2- I love very deep, low bass! I was planning on a box 3.5-4 cf ported, tuned to 28hz. Is setup going to please my needs?? Q#3- Should I have went with the BP option with my power available?? It is free right now, so I figured it couldnt hurt.... right? I cannot wait to hear this setup!! Anyone posting 140db plus numbers on a single Q in a trunk?? Thanks for your help!!
-
Why so low?? I want to make sure that I am not missing out on the lowest end of the audible frequency. I dont want to damage my sub by playing extremely low frequencies through the driver. I listen to alot of Hip-Hop (Luda, Three Six, Chopped and Screwed Mixes). How low do these genres songs drop??
-
Awesome! Thanks for the insight fellas! I went to the RE Website and spec'd a box out @ 4.2 cf. (a lil over 4 cf for displacement) and tuned to 29 hz. The Cadence amp that I have will be quite tough to dial in my subsonic... I am going to try to get as close to 25 hz as possible. Getting more and more excited as I wait to get the 15 delivered!!!

Help Choosing Amp for Fi Q15!!!!!!
BigPun1982 posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Hey guys... I have posted this on a couple other forums and have not had too much feedback. Here are the details: 2007 Chrysler 300C Fi Q15 Dual 2 (Ported) "Big 3" Upgrade I am looking for an amp (1 ohm mono) to run a Q15. I would like it to sounds as good as possible (obviously) with a budget of $350. So far, I have narrowed it down to the following: - US Amps MD-1D - Sundown SAE1000 - Audioque AQ1200D - Cadence iA7 All can be had for $350 or under... what is my best bet for a good LOUD SOUND QUALITY amp?? And why one over the other?? Thanks for all of your help!!! -
Help Choosing Amp for Fi Q15!!!!!!
BigPun1982 replied to BigPun1982's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I am beginning to lean towards the Sundowns... however they are the most expensive out of the bunch. Anyone know where to get the best deal on a Sundown amp?? Also, the Q15 (Dual 2) seems to show 1.5-1.6 ohms per coil on a DMM. So correct me if I'm wrong, but would'nt the amp see a .75 ohm load?? Is Sundown OK to handle such a load everyday? What is the warranty on a Sundown amp??
