Audiopipe amps
A.SMALL replied to smashedz28's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
The first Audiopipe amp I bought back in 09 was basically DOA. And I was pissed lol. Got it warrantied through VM and had a new amp at my door 2-3 days later. 8 amps later and haven't had a DOA or one to fail during regular use. That's using the AP/APCL line though. I agree with Nem. When dealing with high volume manufacturing you're bound to get a turd every now and then but that's what the warranties are for. -

Owned & installed just about every AP series mono they have. Just installed an APCL-3000D a few months ago for my cousin. Haven't really noticed a difference performance wise compared to the old AP 3000 he replaced it with. Don't think they changed anything internally but physically looks better and now has ventilation on the bottom which the AP series didn't have. -
Funny that image & post is non-existent on the skar FB page now lol, Wow.

New company to me , seen some of their post recently on Facebook and seems interesting to say the least.. https://m.facebook.com/EMFAudio?id=461806803870821&_rdr Funny I thought I was looking at a Sundown Zv4 with a different dust cap from the pics I saw but after seeing the video I believe this is their first sub that they will be putting on the market... EMF Audio Ermagerd 15 50 mm linear Xmax 4" 8-Layer Coil 6500 rms Cool ..

EMF AUDIO (via Facebook) : Since there seems to be some skeptics and general disbelief of product existence (apparently pics and video isn't enough) and several others just asking, here ya go, Ermagerd 15 d2 parameters: Re 2.8766 ohms Fs 28.33 hz Qes 0.4968 Qms 5.5971 Qts 0.4563 Le 3.2838 mH Vas 42.9541 L BL 23.9283 N/A MMS 555 grams Sens. 84.68 dB @ 1w/1m Sens. 89.12 dB @ 2.83v The Qts will drop a little and BL will go up a little from the motor revision we're waiting on. Inductance will drop as well.

..there's a big difference in assembled in the states, and manufactured in the states. that is NOT manufactured in the states. anyone can glue something together and sell it...somebody will buy it "Handmade , built to order, assembled in America" is what i meant not "Manufacturer of raw parts" , bad choice of vocab on my part especially with how sensitive the subject of "Manufactured in the USA" is nowadays. MY BAD

I can just imagine. K2I was curious if they did as I would guess....which is to design a sub with huge (claimed) excursion, and then set the T/S in such a manor that it's only useful in ported enclosures which sort of nullifies the entire necessity of huge excursion limits. I'll reserve the rest of my comments until after seeing the T/S. Your statement about high excursion and ported enclosures was something I was thinking about over the weekend while watching my Xcon . With most ported enclosures having minimal excursion around tuning and a subsonic limiting excursion below. Is it safe to say that high excursion is only useful in sealed applications?

I can just imagine. K2Thiele/Small = 6500 rms & 50 mm linear xmax ...both ways lol But they asked who would like to see T/S parameters on fb earlier today but none have been posted yet ..

Yes that's probably him they changed their fb name from Sundown Only to EMF Audio recently I believe.

Not sure if I'm going against the grain by linking other forums but here are a couple... http://www.splbassx.com/forums/index.php?s=de6313bd5d58526e346c10625537bbaf&showtopic=12250 http://www.gmfullsize.com/forum/showthread.php?s=8c1daafd07d8e1938629531df6713bbc&t=264320

Yea looks beastly .. They also said their woofers will be complety manufactured in the U.S. with no "off the shelf parts" and "not a cookie cutter" sub lol.

So torres isn't including the extra baffles in the "physical pot length" ..
-
I think baffle displacement is what's throwing you off. To keep your width of 7" internal the first port piece needs to be 25.5" long. Torres is subtracting the triple baffle you're using from the physical port so that leaves you 25.5-2.25= 23.25 add another inch for the second piece and you get the 24.25 that its showing. If you meant to double baffle you should have just used .75 for your baffle thickness. I believe .. Edit: the second piece wouldn't be an inch long it would be .25" long because the .75" thickness of the first piece has to be included in that total length = 1" and in this case I wouldn't either bother attaching a quarter inch piece of wood won't make much difference in tuning.
-
So are you asking how is it considered a bend if it's only 1 inch? A screen shot would help us see what you're talking about .
-
How does this work? If it is seven inches in width back, why would you want the port wall 3.5 inches from the rear wall of the enclosure? To my understanding, half width is okay if you do not have any bends. The port would just go straight back. He's not saying the inner port wall needs to be 3.5 inches away from the rear he's talking about measuring the "total port length" when you measure an L port you measure down the middle between the inner L and Outer L to get the total length. Here's a rough illustration that I found...
-
Lol me and a friend had this same conversation yesterday. From what I understand the "Physical Port Length" is the total length of the inner L and that is the length you want your port cuts to be. The desired length that you enter under the inner port deminsions is the actual port length that you will get from using the "physical port length". So in your case the port lengths you cut would have a total length of 25 yielding an inner port length of 33.5. The way it was explained to me is the actual length of the port is measured down the center of the port and is an average between the physical L and the outer L created by the outer box walls. Not sure if I confused you more but maybe someone else can explain it better lol.

Did a little more tweaking and twerking with my setup and now my car thinks the trunk is open when the bass drops. Guess the XCON wants out of the trunk...or the trunk wants the XCON out ? lol
-
Few videos of my XCON 15 in the trunk of my 530, seats up, on an Audiopipe 3000D @ 4ohm. The XCON definitely puts in work. More deadener and better mids & highs are much needed now ha.....ha http://youtu.be/QWFQXvUo3yQ http://youtu.be/AcQjwYm-Grk http://youtu.be/575_mX_2EuY

Yea man...Could definitely see a few squirrels going crazy over it lol
