    Horns in spl applications...

I've made flared ports this way out of 125mm (5inch) PVC with 5cm(2 inch) flares, and must say they work very well !

    Horns in spl applications...

the reason why is quite simpel , you prob understand the difference between 4th an 6th order banpass enclosure . so now think of a front loaded horn as a 4th order bandpass , the small back enclosure gives a high upper tuning ,by porting the box you can narrow the band by tuning lower ,giving more gain in a small band as a result .... maybe a double horn would be nice , I cant calculute that in a program but maybe it can be done by hand , making the backwave travel twice as far as the frontwave and giving both the equal amount of hornmouth area

    Horns in spl applications...

I'd definatly go for a ported back enclosure to go with that frontloaded horn ! hornmouth 10 times the size of the woofer-cone-area should do , I'm planning to do something simular with a 12inch Mayhem ... if the prediction of the calculating-program is right its going to be one LOUD mofo !

    Question about Mayhem 18".

you just shouldnt be looking at a single 18" ,how about 4 12" ? then the chaos series should be sufficient and there would be more headroom for EQing

    MB quart amps?

There's nothing wrong with the MBquart , high quality build, good sounding amps .
  9. I've once owned an Alpine mrd-m1001 , this was 2ohm stable also ,I've tryed it to run on a 1 ohm load , it gave less power instead of more and heated up really fast ! be smart about it dont try to run it like that , you WILL blow up your amp .

    Tumult, Alalanche, RL-p, and IB3

those are completely different drivers , whats there to compare ? what do you want to do with them (box, amp, room)?

I know I have a car audio addiction when......

when your livingroom looks like a desert because its was to cold outside and desided to build the box inside and right after that the whole house smells like resin for 6weeks because its a good tempretaure inside for the glass to harden (did this in my apartment where i used to live)
  12. cant ypu go to a caraudioshop nearby and listen to those amps ? the RF will draw less current for the same amount of output that all I can say about those options .

just wanted to mention that I'm finally getting my very own Termlab !!

    Screwless Box

"glued only" boxes are a lot of fun though , I say go for it ! aplying the right amount of pressure is a big thing when glue is dryng , the glue I use needs 2,5kg per cm2 minimum and a good room temp . I wouldnt recommend D4 glue (the kind that foams up) rather a white D2 woodglue that dries up transparant ,you'll need a thight fit for it but will be a lot stronger

Stealth SSD 10 install in my BMW

yes , it will still play low but with way less output , why not make a port ouside of the box ?

Stealth SSD 10 install in my BMW

the answer in in your question , your port is way too small , needs to be at least a 10cm aeroport 60cm long at 35hz tuning
