going loud in a 30year old VWbeetle cabiolet
REVpuggie replied to REVpuggie's topic in Ascendant Audio
bump , I thought you guys would appriciate this , we had almost no cabin-gain to work with , if this were a normal car instead of a convertible we would have seen 6 to 8 db more on that score -
The BTL will keep up with the soloX ,it just makes up for the radiating area by moving up and down a little more ....

I think he stated that he has the SPL option ..so no playing musig for him ....

Welcome to SSA forums . first off , do you have a little more info on your install ? -what is your goal , are you burping or playing on music ? -what kind of car -what does your electical system consist of -what amp is it connected to -is it a D1 or D2 btl , what options did you get on it ? -how big is your box , and how much port area do you have -where did you place your sub , did you move it around in your trunk ? pics would help a great deal !

First real system, what components?
REVpuggie replied to socialstealth's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
look into the components from hybrid audio ...great stuff !!! -
I'd opt for a slotport that would stretch the entire or most of the width at the bottom of the box , and make it nice and big , as stated above keep the ratio 1:9 width / height. this wouldt probably result in less chuffing than 4 aeroports .
-
will work fine on music but for burping only you'll probably will want to change the impedance on those coils . what kind of box do you have in mind ?
-
I know it lookt really sweat to have a kerfed port like that and I know thumper does it like that , but I was wondering if noone has questionmarks on how much less structural strength a port like that will give ? at least put a 45 in place to protect it from inbox pressure

thats SAD ! but funny

I'd like to point out the fact that those RF amps put out more power on 2 ohms than on 1 ohm and those amps dont like to be strapped , they run hot quickly when you do . besides that its looking good !

I tried googling Suki , all I got were pics my wife doesnt approve of ! maybe a link ? I drew something up that would work even better , going to have that made to spec by one of my friends and see how that works out

what kind do you use ? I've tried the wood-inserts but for some reason all the want is to chew up my mdf, going straight into that hole doesnt seem to be a possibility for those damn things , I've thought about using finethreaded inserts for steel and glueing them with locktite into place , haven't tried it though . for now I use T-nuts , I always glue them onto te mdf to prevent any problems and another thing, the threading of those things is awefull I always check if its any good before using ...it may be the quality of steel that is to soft .they're still better than woodscrews

my 2cents , it would be useles to connect 3 chambers ported in series as you effectively would dampen 3 frequencies what would mean you are seriously hurting the drivers efficency . instead of thinking up strange bandpass boxes , i'd suggest you read up on TL's and horns , very efficient not that hard to build and a fun way to fill up your free time building testboxes to see what they do and learning about them .

Hey all , I've got this AA mayhem 15 inch dual 2 ohms wired to 1 ohm , now BBpro6 tells me that the minimum impedance under load will be 2,05 ohms in the box its playing in , is this what the amp will see or will the amp still see the Re of 0,7 ? thanks in advance .

they've been on the european market for a long time , great german company ,very solid kicks, smooth tweets and clear mids ....

New head unit
REVpuggie replied to bolo88's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I like the Pioneer P88rsII a lot ....great sound quality ,good EQ -
thats probably because of a high voltage drop , check your batteries, wiring and alt

thanks for the reply , I was looking for that but couldnt find it

With the voice coils in tandem this design is more efficient than an iso-compound design. In addition the box would be a straight forward ported box. None of this box in a box crap. I'm not sure the air spring in an iso-compound box this really worth anything. I'm sure you can do something with it, but it would take extensive testing, meaning big $$. The result would be such a select box that it probably wouldn't work for any of us. Is there another spider in between the two motors to avoid coil rock? That's got to be one hell of a pole piece. Is it vented? Definitely need a side view. please read the question again . and the coil rocking is indeed also something I worried about...

still a little undesided if i'm liking this or not ... this is probably not going to fit in hatchbacks ?whats the dept on these things? .........butt if this is going to push more air ...hey I'm likin it ! how does this disign compare to an isobaric compound ? I'd think motor wise there would be some simularities ???? and YES we want some T/S parameters !

You'll keep having trouble getting bass into the cabin as long as tou're not altering the steel construction behind the rear seats. concentrate on that
