    RL-p 12 en route..amp suggestions?

So far, so cool. I have looked at the eDesigns stuff, but the nine.1 is on back order. I have considered memphis and hifonics too, but I was worried about getting a 600 or 700 rms (or even 900 on the eDesigns) on a 500w rms sub...but, didn't want to underpower it either. ..another note, an installer at a local shop told me a few months back about 'breaking in' a new sub. (he was referring to some Diamond's. Is there such a thing? First Ihad ever heard that. MattB

  3. Guy from Phoenix Gold said that the dig. cable would control the signal and volume, but, depending on if my head unit converts my am/fm to digital or not, would determine if I needed rca's for that. He also said that people are using this amp just for its 5.1 feature. He said most customers use a separate 4ch. amp for powering loudspeakers. The amp is rated at 18w x5 @ 12v., and 50x5 @ 13.8v. (rms), and peaks at 100 x5. Is 50w too little for the speakers? I am planning on a 400x1 sub amp. MattB
  4. I have a JVC KD-Dv500 head unit. It plays everything, including dvd's. It is dolby 5.1 ready, w/ the digital toslink output. I am looking at a PhoenixGold 5.1 amp for everything except my sub, that has the toslink input. SO, my question is, it I hook up the head unit to the amp with the digital cable, would I still need to use RCA's, or does the digital cable take the place of them? MattB
  5. The amp has the digital input AND rca input. It is a Phoenix Gold Octane-R 5.1MT. http://www.phoenixgold.com/2004/octane-ramps.html I sent Phoenix Gld an email, but no reply so far.. MattB

Appreciate the thoughts. I ordered the speaker yesterday, so may be able to finsih this weekend. Looks like I'm gonna be close on the mounting depth, might have to jack the top up just a little, we'll see. ...and no, clear tails just aren't my thing. Since I'm not doing a jdm theme, they had to go anyways MattB

Ok, well here are a couple.. rear speaker pods I molded in. dash area, 7" tft molded in by me stereo is jvc kd-dv5000 dvd /cd/am/fm..yadda yadda.. I like it, and I can close the door on the cubby hole to hide it. (well, now you all know where it is, so out with that.. Here is a pic of the scion after I got the rear bags installed. I actually changed shocks in the back, and it goes another 1.5" lower. Here is a pic of the box so far. The center plate, is just for reference for the angle of the sub. The 2 sides will be where the amps are mounted. Then center area will be 22'wide. You see the big notch I had to build for the tanks... MattB

It is a scion xB. The reason my space is limited, is because I have 2ea. 3gal airtanks for the bags back there too. I am able to get a 1.5' box in there. Thanks for the response. MattB
