Can anyone direct me to a power converter that goes from 110v to 12vdc?

Happy belated b-day Scott!

Well, I am by no means an audiophile, but, I have one rl-p12 with a mcd1000d going to it, in a quickie built 2.0cf ported box, and I cant believe how good it sounds. It seems the more I turn it up, the better it gets! (not that it was bad at lower levels), but this is the first sub I have owned that sounded good at high volumes. fwiw..

When I ordered my speakers, he said he had "alot" of stuff left, and that he had everything except the "tire subwoofer". -
Thanks for the info. I have threatened to buy that book for 10+ years now

If someone was going to build a sealed enclosure, and the woofer in question listed a box size of, say 0.75^3 to 1.5^3, how do you determine what size ^3 would best suit the woofer? Is that something that the tsparameter would tell you? Or, just build something in that size range and get equal results??? Just curious...

woot..woot! turning 21 on a friday..what more could you ask?

Tools would be my biggest want. Parts Express is the only place I could find a router compass..more people (stores) should sell these, as it is the sh ! t (and everyone should own one).

ALright, I'm getting to the point of install. I am curious about the whole gain knob deal. I have always just turned it up to where it sounded good, and went on. I remember reading something about matching low level volts? So, anyway, my headunit is a whopping 2volts. - that goes to my Phoenix Gold EQ, which has a built in line driver, adjustable from 1 to 8 volts. Then, back at my Memphis amps, they are able to recieve between 1 and 4 volts. SO..gimmie a run down on how to get this stuff adjusted properly..or is there a link that could tell me and save somebody the typing?

Ok, here is are 3 chioces of a mock-up for the install. I was able to raise my air tanks up high, and now I can fit a box underneath. Here are the 3 possible ways to mount the amps. None of these ways will they actually be attached to the box. I will weld some aluminum and stand them off a 0.25" or so. Mounting the amps on top, I like the most, but one amp is slightly shorter than the other... Mounting the amps on either side, and the RL-p in the middle..though, I dont like the M's facing opposite of each other.. Mounting the amps on one side, and the RL-p on the other... Taking a vote..without a poll I guess.. Got in all my wiring today, so just waiting on the sound deadening stuff, and I am off to the races...

In case you need one, I have a spare aero port deal from parts express I ordered last summer. I got 3 or 4 of them. They are about 4-5" at each end, but it narrows down in the middle, like a venturi tube or something of the sort. I dont see them on the website anymore, but if you need one, lemme know.

Yeah, I got all my speakers in today too. Looks like the 5.25's aren't gonna fit in the fiberglass pods I made for the other 5.25's I have. Dernit..oh well, I'm only out ~$20 if they dont . Cant wait to get them in..wont be until mid next week though.. -
Here is a front and side 3/4 view of the box, with the goods....well, the goods, minus the sub, which is across the garage in a safe place..
-
Thanks for the info guys. Box is going just fine. Almost got it all done last night. Raining today, so have to wait til tomorrow. (my garage has too much other crap in it to work in there.)

MattB here, North Fla. Looking forward to learning alot! Been around car audio since my high school days (80's), but just 'entry level' I guess you could say. I have been on the hunt for a while now for equipment. I read a post about a SS sub on another bbs, and came to check it out. Wow, I am impressed..and I dont know half of nothing when it comes to car audio. So, hopefully I wont ask any stupid a$$ questions...I'll go read as much as I can first...but..well I guess that's it....that's my intro... MattB www.e-Autotrim.com

Ok, I'd like to know something.. I read a recommendation of using a 25in^2 port tuned to 34hz. So I understand how to figure out the port size, what is meant by "tune to 34hz"? Or is that a statement, that a 25in^2 port will be tuned to 34hz.?

good luck getting a nine.1 anytime soon...

Is the opening of a slot port supposed to be on the face of the enclosure, same direction as the sub is facing? All the boxes I have seen have them there...is that the requirement, or, just common way to build it?

Well, since I blew most of my budget on a RL-p 12, MCD1000D, and a MCD2004, I had to go the cheaper route. I got 100 sq. ft of FATMAT stuff for $99. That should be enough to do everything except my roof. Stuff isn't thick at all, but the scions must use that same thin metal as the honda's...because I can hear myself drive over a dime..
