Some thoughts on excursion and the infamous "Xmax"

Got it. My misconception of linear. Cant beleive I didnt catch that. -
We aren't saying that the Rl-P 18 will be bad. I'm sure it will be awsome. We are saying X-Whatever is not the most important spec. Especially xMech, which a lot of drivers will fail thermally before they could dream of reaching.

I'm wondering if anyone here is a red cross certified life guard. I have 3 year BSA certification and CPR & First Aid certification. I'm growing tired of the monotony of repairing computers and working with my father. I have connections at the local pool but you have to be Red Cross certified. What I'm asking is, what are the major dificulties in red cross certification? Past learning the saves properly and the hours of treading water while learning them, BSA is pretty simple in my opinion. Except the whole 1 mile per day 2.5 mile on the last day, swim thing. But I elected to do that, it was not required. I would have a $1 per hour pay increase and I would be doing something I know I like, plus guaronteed hours 5 days a week for the summer, more if I teach swimming classes classes. Opinions on the job move? The only downfall is not working in the family means less flexable hours. However I'd be working among friends for a guy who is generally cool all around.

That is a lotta USB items running at once. Like sean said, too much power comming off of measly USB votage. Have you tried swapping some of that over to a powered hub? -
Sounds good. I forgot about the bottom rescue. BSA botom rescue was a 25lb steel weight in merky waters. Nothing too dificult, though harder for us twig-skinny guys with no body fat boyancy.

Question concerning keeping CMS linear. Could motor designers not extend the pole to the point where the coil hits its maximum forward limit (due to suspension). Agian on the reverse, if shortening rings are used, the coil can not rock as much. Of course the forward extending part of the pole could be non magnetic as to keep the B-feild from straying. Essentiall an untapered phase plug with a different purpose. It's just an idea I though I would spit out there. I'm wondering why this has not been incorperated much except for in a few crazy motor designs and extreme excursion designs. -

A technical understanding of Polyfill

Great write up. The only issue (not really a big deal at all) is the air density thing. Fixed volume and fixed mass of air. The only thing that can be raised by heat is pressure. -
Good write up. I especially like the 5th paragraph. You see that with noobs all the time. I have a big enclosure, two big speakers, and a lot of power...Got low-end?

Tungsten Carbide coil formers. That would be rather heavy. It seems as in the quest for the perfect woofer it is big push pull and no one solution is perfect in every instance.

Today was a good day. When I was at work my mom called and said I got a big envelope from USF. When I got home and opened it I found a letter saying I'd been accepted. USF is no Yale/Harvard/Princeton...or even a UF for that matter. But they have a decent science department (tossing between a chem. major and physics major). I

Crashing issues..

are the USB drivers ok? Maybe try uninstalling them and reinstalling them. I really cant think of a reason that the computer would crash because of USB to the point you have to do a hard restart unless you have some sort of virus or perhaps damaged motherboard. Does the computer have more than one USB port? If so does it do the same thing on all USB ports? I'd start with changing USB ports, then the USB drivers, along with a virus scan. Also try another card. Perhaps the card got damaged over the years. -

Very interested in this topic. Past powerhandleing and increasing l in Bl. Flat wound vs Round wound (besiges power handleing) Low AWG windings vs Higher AWG windings. Different Coil Formers etc...

Speaking of SQ...I need to dump these RE componets. And go active agian. And get a more powerful head unit. All while saving for two proms, a Hobie Cat, college, and Sundown 100.4. I have some organs up for sale guys.
