(i know you are in great suspence)

knew that would get your attention... too bad its audiopawn but it is a good video, by me, and good music (made by an aquaintace who is an amature DJ) and its only 5.12meg so even you 56kers could make it in a half hour download http://www.woofervids.com/displayimage.php?album=8&pos=0 enjoy BTW, this is powered by 2 PSU's and a sony 444

that isnt the only videogame sample he uses. I have another song where he uses the music from goldeneye (the game) and puts a beat to it then puts the vocals to some 50cent song...it will be on any vid i do of the Ava18 when it gets here. AUDIOPAWN pWN3$ JOO!!!!....not... that amazing 4f/sec rate from this $40 digital camera at an amazing 1.3 megapixles...which is why it is only 5.12 megs...on my real video camera that vid would have been 15+ with out compression...

*OFFICIAL USAMPS* News thread
CBFryman replied to flakko's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
will you (not us) be able to get one of thoes at material and labor cost? i mean your uncle wont gain or loose any money and its family...if so you should so hook yourself up... -
wow, that is really weird, thoes measurments make sence, sort of. if each has a nominal impeadence of 6ohms and they are wired in parallel with the added resitance of the Xover...that is 4ohm nominal for the entire set up...though most componets 6.5 is 4ohm....weird, ill see what i can do but for me to get to the back of my mid i have to take apart my door, lol. but i can just take the panel off and feel around with my hands to find the terminals and then slap the multimeter on it and see what i get.

145 on the Mecca mics down at the audio shop... ya know, the one that 4 JLw1v2's hit 157.1 on... since that is the standard around this town. remember my goal on the TL with this enclosure (my daily one) is 140...but first i have to find someone on the TL. im hoping for this to be a low end monstor, i forgot to tell you guys, im bending the ports up and then over, just ot be safe with the back of the magnet. this allowed me to utilize a longer port, so 27 Hz is now my tuning, but if i dont hit hy goal on the local mics im going to shorten it up back to 29-30Hz

50mm Xmax LMT + TL/horn hybrind like in the Ascendant Vids... wangage + great sound... too bad you are an XBL hater...i wonder where RE is going to price this new sub of theirs that is going to come out in twothousand eleventy... edit: oh yeah, if you could have picked up a couple of Ascendant Ava12's for 200 each and slaped them in a TL it would have been nice too "Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee "

10.5 is NOT safe for most amps...get a new deep cycle or two asap... my tweets will lighten up as soon as they have to compeat wit han avalance 18
-
might, im no expert, im just making a geuss to why they where doing that. if you want to find out just try unstacking them and see if the sound improves like when you switched to the Polk Xover (though it wont be the same sound, different Xover points and probably different slopes) the coil packs vibrating, however, may be unaviodable, though usually small coil backs dont do it enough for us to detect. i never checked to see if mine did such a thing but it may be that you have bad Xovers. you say your tweeters wernt harsh? mine are harsh on or off axis if i dont cut the Treble back a few notches on my Head Unit. once agian, im just making a semi-educated geuss. Call up RE and ask.
-
wall the chit off with 2 MT 18's...pure wangage..lol
-
coil packs sometimes vibrate with the frequincy passint through them. ever notice how when you get near a transformer (which is a pair of large coil packs) you can hear a 60Hz buzz? as for the music "jumping" i have no idea unless it was, agian, from the coil packs emiting Electromagetism which was effecting the other coil pack... my Xovers are in the doors behind the mids...so they are well seperated...
-
mine sound fine...but my substage will way over power them...the tweeters are harsh...and im still trying to track down some more mounting hardware...damn ductape is holding them in place now, LMAO...

yada yada... its getting late and im tired and i reached a good stoping point...here is what we have so far. no more cutting...just drillin, gluein, and screwin.. 2nd sheet ready to go under the knife something out of starwars... what it looks like to me i went ahead and resinged the corners because they will be part of the port which will be next to go in, then the top, and then finally the baffle. hopefully tomarow i will get it all sanded and painted black...i was thinking dark blue or red but i already have black pain lying around from my tweeter pods...

ya, the damn homedepot guy sat there and watched me lug these 2 50lb sheets of MDF into the bed of a nissan frontier (small bed, and with the roll out toneu cover i couldnt push it althe way to the front so i had to tie it in because the talegate wouldnt go up...it was wedged in there at an angle) while he helped some guy twice my size get a dog pin into a full sized GMC.... and did you know you have to BUY your own flags now? they didnt even have the red plastic anymroe all they had was these 3 dolar fancy ones...so we went down the interstate with no flag, oh well...2 hwy patrollmen where passed and we didnt get pulled over... anyway, im hoping to get all but the baffle for the 18 togather today and the ports rouneded at the edge...but its pretty hot and humid so i may quit working if i get too tired. long night last night......but a fun one.

oh, i was just unloading it from the truck...i had sandles on and didnt even think about the jack being there.... here is the culprit and here is an update pic of what i have so far. oh ya, and cynderblocks are your friend when transporint MDF short distances incase you havent figured it out, im going to have to ports (3.5x11) come down and bend towards each other, hence the overhang. the only thing i am worried about is the motor somewhat blocking the airflow. if it does ill have to bend the ports back up (180degree bend) ill have plenty of extra MDF incase... but i dont think it will be a problem (3" from the corner to the back plate)
-
Here is a little update, one whole corner done, its getting dark, i dont feel like having to sweep the garadge and we have no lihgting under the car port...tomarrow... i got one more side done ill have pics soon.
-
ok, some off topic chit (hasnt this whole thread been that so far?) what a good wax job does when it rains the culprit and something on topic, the MDF
-
may just be the camera mic...but thoes are deff not for SQ

RL-P 12 in fiberglass box and sound quality
CBFryman replied to haydenlake's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Bracing a fiberglass enclosure is quite easy. after already streching the fleec with no frame work (initial framework is just for the shape, not the strength) then you cut a strip of MDF or other wood andwedge it where you want it. then glas 4-6layres of mat around it and few inches up its base. the resin will bond to the wood and, of course, to the interior walls. same thing can be done in an all MDF enclsoure if you are going the screwless way. Fiberglass enclsoures that sound "hollow" are generally too thin. -
::shrugs:: dipping is too messy, uses too much resin IMO. i can get it soaked with a paint brush, the key is fresh/new resin...old resin doesnt soak as well... it is also usually a darker brown where as new resin is a light light brown... see pic below...try and figure which one used old resing and which new.
