welding wire?

Custom made mang. -
My CD3434 doesnt like it when I skip around on burnt CD's a lot of times.
-
Looking around for a new head unit I've found that the majority of units from reputable companies (save alpine) dont have pause in their mid level units. Kenwood, Pioneer, Eclipse...none of them have pause in the $2-$300 range. My CD3434 doesnt have pause. Even sony units lack pause. Pioneer and Kenwood's lower units have pause and all of their highest units have pause...but in between it seems to be the companies think we dont like to pause our music or compeat... /rant

Vampires, Mummies, and the Holy Ghost...these are the things that terrify me the most. Time to go to the NP thread.

Im getting an Alpine 9856 if my Eclipse ever sells.

Eclipse is awsome for SQ...it just processes slowly and doesnt have pause...not optimal for SPL.

1/0 is 1/0. There is no bigger or smaller. 1/0 referst to the corrsection of the wire. If they are claiming 1/0 it should have a 1/0 cross section. -
lol. Nothing agianst SQ guys but if you are compeating SPL you almost have to have pause.

From your alt to your batteries I would run 2/0. From the batteries to the amp 1/0 is fine. I'm assumeing your run wont me more than 2-3ft though. Much more and I would do 2/0 or 3/0...or just fill a garden hose with molten copper. -

Basically all 1/0 wire will conduct the same unless one of the 1/0's is of higher purity copper or isnt actually 1/0. -

A bunch of smaller strands does nothing as far as scross sectional area. And crossectional area is what matters. Smaller strands do, however, leave for more surface area to corrode...which is a bad thing. Copper rods FTW! -

welding wire?

Wire is Wire mang. Weldingsupply.com has some decently flexable stuff and it's half the price of "car audio wire." The only difference between wire is strand count (higher means more flexible usually), OFC (tinned copper) which doesnt do a whole lot if you crimp and tin the ends of your wires correctly, and pretty casing. I used Home Depot wire for half of my Big3 More like a copper rod than wire but it works. -

What kind of price range are you looking at for the sub? Why not pick up an Rl-i 10 or even 12? -

OK, well the tests agianst the JBL's proved worthless. The JBL's are 8ohm. The crossover made some funky things happen. Holes in the sound and what not. I am doing free air impeadance testing right now. I am using WinISD for a frequincy generator. It seems ot have light lead slap once I get it to move to full potential (with the given 10w amp I can only do that round 20Hz). I should have an impeadance graph by the end of today. Im doing 50-2000Hz in 5Hz incraments...im at 200Hz...joy.
