Just wondering how could a xcon perform in a ht setup (movie 80% looking for low end ruble here) i was thinking big box low tuning like 6-7 ft/cu ported to 26-28hz, how would that model for my needs? thanks
-
so what would be the optimal sealed box then? 4-5feet cube?
-
wouldn't i get a better 'ht' result with it in a big box tuned in the 20s than with a sealed box?
-
I'll be moving out to my own house soon so size ain't that important (but let try to keep it under 8ft cube... i still want it to look nice.) movie and music too so 10hz is kinda out of question. I'm pretty sure i can still get what i want from a box tuned in the 20-25hz

im just wondering what is ir score? im intrested in the xcons and was wonderin how they meter. it's metering 144 on music near the glove box but my epic seems to be 1-2 db under the tl (from the other owner test). My pair of omegas 12s were mettering 140 on music and tuned alot higher, so i guess it's not that bad sq wise, the xcons crush pretty much anything i've tried so far oh and i get a nice flex i'll take vids pretty soon

hi there, i'm getting a pair of 15inch xcon pretty soon and i'm working on my box design. They'll go in an 2004 elantra gt, so hatchback. subs up, port on one side (a 10inch sonotube) with enough clearance to breath. amp is an mtx te4001d, so around 4k watt to the pair. -what's the subs displacement? -cutout -is one 10inch sono enough (box is 7.2 before all displacement, so pretty on the small size) gives around 12f -how do you think they'll react in like like 3.2-3.5 feet each? (3.5 if single baffle, otherwise 3.2) -i had tc sound's tc-9 prior, anyone know how does compare? -anything i should know about these beside that? thanks for the help in advance
-
they are now 1db louder on the epic, and god they now dig low and make the roof flex more than ever. i won't change sub every three to six month now, these stay in my car for a long time
-
I got them recone and i installed them back yesturday with a proper serial wiring this time around. they are great, meter is now up 4db from a direct swap between the 12inch omegas and these, and i'm only breaking them. Guy at the recone shop were impress too and finally the coil were pitch black and smelling like shit. mtx te4001d at 0.5 ohm on a coil per sub= bad i'm pretty happy with the substage now and they'll defenitively stay in my car for a long time
-
it happenned to me two weeks ago and i was 100% sure the subs were hooked right. I realize my mistake few days after they were out actually..... take a look, series wiring can ben tricky, at least to me
-
nah it's fine... my omegas are hooked in series atm and they work wonder. i though making a little jumper between the + and - of one coil was gonna make the whole sub in serie... i was wrong!!!
-
turn out it was user error, stupid and noob error only one coil per sub were hooked... my first time with dual coil in serie... i did it wrong! so amp was seing .5ohm (probably around 5k watt +) and pushing all that power to a single coil per sub. I must admit they still played pretty well for being powered all wrong recone will be here soon, can't wait to see what they'll do with their full potential. oh yeah now my voltage doesn't dip under 13v even at idlle . sorry about that denim, i'm sure they'll stand what i've got for them better now....
-
yeah, number is pathetic but i'm pretty sure it's off, that can't be it.... i'm like 6db less loud than i was... with double the power and more electrical backup
-
I had some time to do testing before job on the working one and i was real impress... it took the power real nice (3k theorical watts at 2ohm) and never shown any sign of stressing....
-
i'd be surprise there's clipping in the way as it's pretty much set the same way for every driver i use and that one seems kinda suspicious from the start. like i said, i wasn't really bumping that hard and my voltage was barelly dropping, i just mess with the wrong track in the wrong box..... the ex-owner haven't pm me back either...... it's still a nice driver, i really love the way it covers a nice range that flat. it sound so much better than the18 inch Q i had few year ago. i'm just wondering if i should call one or two recone as the other one was probably abuse too.... but it looks fine and play fine so far sorry if i'm annoying denim, i just want them to work again together soon...
-
isn't it strange that only one of the two "blew up"? i wasn't powering them that much.... i'm pretty sure there was no clipping , voltage was still pretty high when the tinsel burnt.... and the sub was already kinda "rattling" when i put my ear next to it.... kinda mechanical noise still waiting a on recone kit quote
-
well finally it seems like the tinsels are burnt. the spider ripped just over the tinsel, wtf happened?
-
i just put the sub in a box i had so the working one is in 4.3 net @34hz and it sound pretty great. i'm glad there's still one working while i'm waiting for a recone.
-
... spider problem here and the cone sad sad day... but i'm wondering why the other is still in good working condition. my dmm batt is down i can't check the coil atm waiting on a recone quote, and this will be my first recone
-
dustcap wasn't that hot in the middle , just on the burnt side 3inch away from cone center
-
i can't wait to take them out and inspect them. i just don't get how one of the two subs fail like that and the other was barely hot. it didn't smell coil either, just a little smoke and i light scent. i never blew sub, it just failed too quick, just wondering why btw the coils wer kinda dark on both sub and each tinsels looked weird when i first got them . they were used what is the coil "natural" color? gold or brownish?
-
Could you post pics of the melted cone? i will tommorow..... does ssa do recone?
-
something bad happenned today while i was abusing the lowend of my oversized sealed box... one of the cone kinda melt... yeah it melted!!! i don't know if i'm the only responsible for this, the other sub wasn't really hot and the "blown" one was damn warm to the touch... i'm gonna take them out tommorow, recone time... big sealed + much power + lowend abuse =

hi there
-
adding two more and removing the backseat would be the only option left but this is my daily, i don't need a trunk but i need my backseat
-
it's now sealed with around 3.25 per sub and it's digging low .... i love that but there's a huge difference in overall output, i'll keep it this way for a week or two and then i'll decide if i want to go ported again but tuned lower BTW excursion is now totally sick, freaking sick. it looks alot cooler than ported. i wanted to make vids with my cellphone but it just won't pick it up
