Got a weird problem with the xover, I'll see if I can fix it first before bugging you about it.
-
Jim, you near?
-
Laying on your side, soldering something vertical = teh suck
-
Truck looks awesome!! And the pool and patio area is very nice as well ... very nice
-
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck soldering.
-
I should have one done today (within the next hour I'd imagine) ... minus the port. Lots of wire ... When I win the lottery I'll fly you up here
-
Welcome to SSA Haha, just thought about this ... might start seeing posts in this section = "Well, I saw this sticker ..."

They are just disgusting when they break open. I'd say they're worse than milk thistle. chitty. $100 a week sucks - I've got two weeks booked off in August ... if the strike is still on, I loose two weeks (paid vacation at that). If they get a contract, my boss tells me when I take holidays next year (because we'll naturally be behind) ... I don't decide, he tells me. Either way we're getting fudgeed. You can't make up this money lost no matter what. Oh well, pension is based on how much you make in your past five years. Negotiate a three year contract, count this year, next year + 8%, year after + 4%, year after + 3%, and one more year ... retire at 32 or 33. Ha, yeah right.

Well, it's just an idea at this point. Get either the boxy style (mid 90's) Suburban or just get a newer style one, black or very dark green. Black everything out, make it look like a government/army vehicle on the outside. I'd need buckets up front, buckets for the second row, and a bench for the third row. Third row seats would be flipped around so they face the rear of the vehicle ... back to back with the second row buckets. In between the second and third row would be the enclosure + amps + multimedia + batteries if they fit. I'd loose all of the door panels in favor of some solid wood ones, and I'd do a wooden bar along one side in the cargo compartment. Headrest monitors in the front buckets, in-dash screen, and either a large flip down in the rear or a large screen or two in the tailgate or fiberglassed over the back glass. Lots of accent lighting throughout. Console running from the dash ---> second row buckets could also be some sort of bar for the second row seating, or house a lot of the equipment. Just a thought for now - looks like this strike isn't going to end soon, which sucks because even with a pay increase, you'll never make back this money we're not making right now.

They are the same. However, one of them happens to be about 1/16" - 1/8" too narrow so the 7's won't fit until I do a little trimming.
-
Once in a while. Actually, I've got quite an idea for a new project for the future ... involving a lot of custom woodworking. But I won't give the details on that one I don't think
-
I'll have to go pick one of those up for future use then. I seen it there but I figured that you'd just fly through sandpaper like crazy. My nut is loose. Please come and crank down on my shank to fix it.
-
Nope - the 7's fit in this tower just fine. It's the other tower that I've going to have to do a little chopping to tomorrow. I don't want to trim the driver's frame, so I'll trim the wood and make it look as good as I can. You got it.
-
Just tossed them in real quick. Tomorrow I'll have to screw around with the other one.
-
I think I've figured something out. Kind of ghetto, but it just might work. Pictures and an explanation after I build it and try it.
-
Well, I could get a Dremel or rotary tool, but that's even more money I don't want to spend. Besides, I'd go through a pallet of those little sanding bits - I'm sure they aren't very good for what I'm trying to do.
-
I need to find a good woodworkers message board. My fudge I wish I had access to a bloody spindle sander ... I'd be done in a few minutes.
-
Well, they don't work on plywood. Slow speed, medium speed, high speed, don't work - press as hard as I can, don't work - vary the pressure, don't work - move the bit along the wood, don't work. I can see them working wonders on MDF. As of right now, everything I just ordered is for sale. All I'm doing is hacking up the towers. The 7 inchers don't even fit on the baffle, they just sit on the two sides. I tried shaving some of it off, didn't work ... and now it looks like chit as there are two dips in the sides. The 5.25's and tweet fit fine, but not the 7's. Not even close.
-
fudge these speaker towers to hell and back, x5.567 million infinity x 3 and a half point 7three6. Can't cut 'em with a jigsaw because the sides stick out. Can't use a router because the sticks stick out. Can't file by hand because it's 3/4" plywood and it takes way to long. I just bought one of those cylindrical domed rotary files for five bucks ... it damn well better work. Looks like it should. Off to try it now.
-
Off to picket. Ha!
-
8 bucks shipped - silver and white can be done no problem ... want one of each or two of one color?
-
Cutouts getting made larger. I'm terrible at making existing holes bigger ... especially when you're talking 1/8" bigger.
-
Towers + tomorrow morning + jigsaw = hacked up big time.
-
Almost 45 minutes later and I'm still haven't been able to get one 7" to fit. None down, eight holes to go!
