It's all about enclosure. You can't have high SPL and a musical enclosure. And you don't want SQ, as that is usually 1 woofer in a sealed enclosure on less then 1000w. You can have an enclosure that sounds good and is loud. I would go for the Fi BL with the 4" coil for the traits you are looking for.

So far man, I can tell you a totally new to this. You don't need to drop $1,400+ dollars into a 3000 and a BTL if you still had the thought of a capacitor. You would need a H/O alternator and at least two large batteries to power an SAZ3000. I think an AQ2200 would be best for a BTL 18" for your application.

Have you had an amp with such power before? I wouldn't put that much power on a single driver without prior experience with high power systems.

On Chevy's from that era, there are two metal layers of the roof. A thin inner layer, which is the issue, and the outer skin. We have had much success buy layering deadener on that inner layer, as it's the only real option.

As long as the design is there it can be very musical. Friend of mine had a 4 15" walled F-150 with DD 9515"s. Box was tuned at 42Hz with 400^2 port for 20 cubes. It played down into the low 30's with no issues and peaked at 46Hz.
