go with dcons if it will be louder... and also i love low freq so thats a plus... looks like ill be having to work some more and get some cash haha. but yes go with dcons for sure if its louder. So im going to order 4 10" Dcons Dual 2 and one Sundown 1000D after i hear back from you. edit: plus it cant hurt to support the guys on here

what do you think about 4 10" Dcons??? would the increase in output be worth the extra $300 and which sub hits lower.

What Amp Would You Recommend?

im hooked already on 4 10's... itll look cool and i pretty much already have a box design so its just deciding what 10" i want now. -
i can use either for support. whatever you think works best, i can do. im guessing 2x4s would provide more support but idk if it would affect sound or anything. im just getting into car audio, but you know your shit so whatever you would do if it were your box.

i already looked at Dcons... just for the subs it would be $620 and i can get the 4 pioneers for $240. If i had more money i would go with the dcons. well start saving up because you will love the difference betwen DCONS and Pioneers, just by two at a time. what kind of difference. here are my questoins: which is louder? which sounds better? which can get lower? The two more important are lower and louder... -

before i never knew i could use a mono amp. i think im just going to get a sundown 1000D... its relatively cheap for waht you get ($280) and i knoew its reliable and gives clean power. And would be giving each sub 250rms so i plan to order that after i figure out my box. -
Can you wire 4 subs to a Mono Amp?
Doctor Q posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Can i wire my 4 subs to a Sundown 100D and give around 250RMS to each sub? Is this safe? Would it look like OPTION 1 from this: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=4&I=22 And for this i wuld get 4 Dual 2-ohm. -
hey can the pioneers im looking at even go in a ported box.. would they sound good at all? i cant find a single pic on the internet of them ported and the website says rec encl. .65-1.25 but not sealed or ported and i found this: Sealed Box Volume 0.65 - 1.25 cubic feet Ported Box Volume N/A but then i kept scrolling and found this: Recommended Enclosure Type Ported / Vented Sealed so idk, i guess i can port them but i dont want to buy them and it sound muddy because they need to be sealed. Also on amp im going to buy the two kicker zx450.2s unless anyone thinks i shouldnt.

So i have to re-do my system and for my parents sake, they wont let me go above 800 watts. So for 800 watts, i want to get (mainly) as loud as possible without sounding like straight up garbage. Right now I think im going to get 2 12" subwoofers unless someone here convinces me otherwise. I've found a few possible options but would like to hear what you guys think. Also need an amp to match the subs, preferably one that isn't to power hungry so that it doesn't affect my battery/alternator to bad. Here are my thoughts now: SUBS: 1) 2 12" Dcons 2) 2 12" RE SRx's (possibly 3 12"s) 3) 2 12" Revolution Design Sonance V2s AMPS: 1) Soundstream REF4.760 2) Planet Audio AP800.4 (one for each sub) bridged 3) Planet Audio TQ804 I mainly have to figure out the subs first thought because that decides the amp. So if i want to get loud with 800 or less watts what subs should i buy? I'm actually really leaning towards the Resonant Engineering SRx's... Each runs 300RMS so i could probably get 3 12"s because for optimal output for ported box it says 1.5 so all together 4.5 cu. ft. which isnt to bad. I could get each sub Dual 2 ohm and so i could wire it to 4 ohms and buy 3 Mono amps. I could get 3 Alpine MRP-M500's and wired to 4 ohm would give each sub 300 watts... atleast right now that is what i think im going to do after i go measure my car for width. Leave me some advice, tips, or ideas... im kind of glad i had to start over because its so much fun. Thanks guys, alex

i think im gunna go with (2) 2-channel amps that put out around 200 watts per channel. im thinking these: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=19216 i have two questions though... 1) how would i wire that and obv to 2 ohm and 2) they come with a bass knob each so i wuld have 2 bass knobs... can u have two? -

i havnt ordered the subs yet so i could get dual 4 subs -
hey shizzon.. all the hifonics amps i could use are a/b class. i was thinking now i could get 2 of the HIfonics ZXI 4410 (1 per 2 subs) and wire it bridged to 2 ohms so that each sub gets 220 watts.

Anyone know anything bout autotek's amps??? ive heard they are owned by maxxsonics which means it might be the same as buying a hifonics, idk. heres the one im talking about: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_18719_Autotek+SM4-1000.html Autotek SM4-1000 250x4 @ 2 ohm Only problem is that its an A/B amp, not D. -
yeah thats why i didnt want hifonics. i want something that is reliable... like i loved my sundown 1200D. im thinkn i might do the 100.4 now.
-
that would only give me 160 per sub and its $315 which is more than i wanted to spend. but since it is sundown that maybe like 180 or even 200 per channel which is good but still. i was looking more around 200 ish.

hey shizzzon, im going to go ahead and order all my stuff for the new system the end of this week like friday so could you make a final thing for the box with dimensions and most importantly the port size and everything. Or if anyone knows a site i could do this so Shizzon doesnt have to. If possible i want a plexiglass window but if not thats fine. For the amp, these have been the ones i found. Which would you pick or if there is another one you think is better: - Planet Audio AP800.4 - Autotek SM4-1000 (i havent heard much on autotek) And thats all i found so far because im trying to keep costs down.

jsut the sub or do they need box/amp? naw just the sub, he has an amp for it. is that box custom built for your trunk? If not what are the dimensions of the box? Price for Sub? Price for Sub and Box? Thankx dim. 17H by 42W by 13D and idk... i guess sell the sub for 200-250 and sub and box for 450. id prefer selling the box and sub together though since its paired with that sub. itd be hard for me to sell just the box to someone else.

sub, amp, custom box i was asking 700-800. i think that maybe too much but idk so i said 795 but negotiable. what do you guys think? i think tomrw im going to lower it to 695. bought it as follows: sub - 340 amp - 310 plus 50-60 for wires speaker wire - like 20-30 plus custom box.
-
well no matter what i tell my mechanic or my parents they want me to downsize. Plus this will, or atleast should, be louder than my Q so i actually benefit and the 10's are only $60 a piece. Im set on this setup i just need to sell my current one and figure out my box and amp for this.
-
so i wont be able to do a glass thing at all? i want something so when i open the trunk it looks cool. any way to do that or am i just gunna have to suck it up. could i do a small window toward the top of the rear wall and just make it long width wise but not go to far down?
-
yeah its OEM, there is only one kind that can fit in my car and its 120amp... vovlo blowss. anyways so now all i gotta do is sell my current stuff before my parents will let me buy my new stuff plus i need to make some more money because i got a sick idea for the box... im thinking have the subs how u had them facing forward and then just wrapped in whatever, then on the opposite side, when you open the trunk, have a huge plexiglass window and surround the rest of the back piece with like a gucci or louis vuitton cloth thing. i saw a car at the shop where i installed my stuff with that and it looked sick. so then if its gunna be facing forward the depth can easily be 22 so 17H x 42W x 22D would give me 9.09 gross... then what.
-
well i am pretty sure i can fit it. idc if it takes up the whole trunk... should i face it foward into the cabin or back towards the trunk? so for the electrical. i got a new alternator and the cars running fine. its just when i add this system idk if im going to need anything extra... although this is running 1000 watts vs before it was 1200-1500. So it is downsizing a little. Okay if i go with the 4 pioneers im looking at around 1000 watts and so what if i used a Powermaster D5100 as my main battery. Would that put a strain on the alternator? this is the D5100: Negative Terminal - Right Over 30% more reserve capacity than OEM Provides hours of additional play time and allows more depth of discharge without damage AGM design allows complete recovery from full discharges Available in both standard and reversed polarities Excellent under-hood replacement for many imports Can easily power systems up to 2000 watts when used as the main battery Great supplemental battery for systems up to 3000 watts 3 Year Warranty
