New, lighter system
finebar4 replied to 02BlackOnBlackSS's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
The Sinfoni is a little pricey, but after hearing them, I was sold. He is a little slow at responding or at least was with me, but if want want SQ with kahuna's may not be a bad choice with your Rainbows. -

I voted other, check out www.Sinfoniusa.com, I have a phone number and know they are hurting and making deals. The 150 X 2 does about 700-800 into 2 ohms and can be had for $600 shipped to the door, and the 90 X 2 to the front stage would give you killer SQ without over taxing the components. I think he quoted me $450 shipped. -
Happy B-Day, get out and enjoy the day.

I have only heard the lower end Rainbow at a show, and for lower end, they blew me away. Haven't heard the DLS, but I like the mid's in that set-up. Been watching your build-up, great so far......I'll watch for the review.
-
Hey Effendi, U got those DLS running yet? contemplating a new front stage and am torn between the Rainbows or the DLS. Denim, I'll have to see if that Orion is enough to sway me before I part with my baby, but....I'll keep ya posted.

You scored as 03' Mustang SVT Cobra. You prefer power out of the box and always smoke people on the road, you have a tight group of friends and people are jealous on the streets. I can buy that, but figured myself a truck guy for the last 20 years. Got room in the hatch for ladders?

2004 Std Cab GMC Z71 Front Stage: Focal 165 (2nd Gen k series 6\4\.75) Front Stage Amp: Audison VRX 150 No Rear Fill Sub: PG Ti 12 Sub Amp: RF Power 800 A2 Coming soon: SoundSplinter RL-p 12 (Group Buy) Orion 1200D (enroute) Scarenius where did you find your Rainbows? That would be my only other mod at this point.

Don't know about the Elite, but I listen to a PG ti 12 every day. When my group buy RL gets here I'll post some pics comparing the 2. BTW, thanks to you and Kent, I am putting the RF 800 on ice for a little while and going to run a Orion 1200d to give Class D a try. Knowing you and Kent run the 2500's made my decision a lot easier, and having HCCAfan lurking around, well........it should be here today I know your busy as hell, but could you PM me when you get a chance, I would like your assistance in a sig banner.

Welcome aboard! Whacha runnin for a system?

Hey Tom, I have a 04 reg cab GMC and I can tell you squeezing in 2 amps can be done but if I redid my system I would do a single multi channel amp too. I have my front stage amp behind the passenger seat, and my sub amp (old school RF, big bastard) under the passenger seat, and my sub box goes from behind the drive seat to the passenger side of the center console. In your case starting fresh, just do a multi-channel amp behind the passenger side and drop 2 8's behind the driver seat and the center console, and your in buisness with no sacrifice of leg room. Check out EFFENDI's new diamond amp, that thing would be sweet, but a little pricy. Keep an eye on Ebay and watch for old Adcom or Mcintosh 4 channels, the back channels can be bridged down to 2 ohms, they are fan cooled, and make great power at low impedences, and ......oh ya, SQ is top notch from both. Mac's will be a little pricy, but mine is 12 years old and running strong, and still sounds awesome. Adcoms will be a little cheaper, the fan is a little louder, but are stable enough to drive nails. I have a old 40 X 2 that bridged across 3 DVC 10" (maybe 1/4 ohm final load) that would rattle my fillings. Class D's today make a smaller footprint for their output, but IMO you can't beat some of those old school amps. Phoenix Gold M-series, Orion HCCA, Mac's, Adcom,s, and old Precision Power art series can all be had on Ebay at relativly low prices and their sound can't be beat. The Orions, PG's, and Adcoms can go bridged to below 1 ohm (suggest additional cooling measures) and develop crazy power from their relativly low ratings. Another alternative is check out the string on NEXT amps, low, low prices for what looks to be pretty well made equipment.

Hey man welcome aboard Your car only has 4" speakers in the doors so your component set won't fit the factory locations without some modification. I don't know the spec's on the factory amp, but it probably isn't worth keeping if you are into SQ at all, so it is a judgement call on your behalf. Crutchfield sells mounting kits and wiring harnesses for your specific vehicle and have a set of 4" MB Quart components on sale that will drop right in, but I have to side with Supa_c and Denim and say drop in your own amp and rewire from there. You have a nice headunit, and with a kit it will drop right in, and if you are feeling lazy, the factory locations are amped and you could drop in some 4" components and leave well enough alone, but you will be lacking in the midbass and lower frequencies and will find yourself modifying from there. Any plans on a sub? With adding a sub you will have to drop in an amp anyways, so bite the bullet and spend a weekend running some power and RCA's to the trunk, and circumventing the factory system all together. Leave it intact if you want to switch back to factory later if you sell the car, but, while you own it, you may as well get some grins from it. You could put your speakers in the kick panels and skip modifying the doors...... honestly, you have lots of options

Well I agree Kent has a sweet job, but..... I get to boom almost all day and get paid for it. I am a field service engineer for a medical equipment maker out of Germany. I get paid (well) hourly, plus get milage to cover 6 states and install operating room (lights, tables, anathesia booms). So I may put down 300 hundred miles, spend an afternoon gawking at the nurses and doing my thang, and ride off into the sunset. Because my states are mostly mountains (CO, NM, WY) I have become a huge Sirius fan, but still have about 800 CD's to choose from when I just want to jam to something in particular. Because of the time I spend in my truck (2004 GMC Z71 Reg Cab), I am constantly looking to improve my SQ which led me to this forum, Can't wait to get my RL-P . Oh yeah, I have a home office, and my boss is in San D. Cali, so I don't deal with people looking over my shoulder. I have only had this gig for about 8 months and am in the running for a project manager position that just got created. I used to work for Lucent Technologies building Cell sites. ( I would install all the radios, amps, and multiplexers it takes to make your cell phones work). Same kind of gig though, had a helper and would drive all over CO and Wy adding service coverage along the way. Well Lucent obviously went down the tubes, and I got laid off after 8 years of dedicated service, but in hindsight, it was the best thing that could have happened. Sorry for rambling, but I luv my gig , freedom, travel, and fixing and installing things, could it get any better?

getting new CD player
finebar4 replied to jntar's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I got a CT right around the corner I am going to visit this AM. Correct me (please) if I am wrong, but I have heard that the sirius box eclipse is coming out with is backwards compatable to this HU, Can anybody confirm this? That is edge I am teetering on as I can't live without my sirius. I drive like 60000 miles a year ( I cover 6 states as a field engineer) and most is thru the mountains or areas so sparsley populated there is no radio. -
on the sweetness bro, nice amp.

Hope this don't sound like an ad but I switched about 4 months ago and all I can say is . Being an eclipse guy, I gotta step up and buy the new head unit and get rid of the portable, but luv **** Sirius . BTW my truck just turned 6 months old and 30000 miles, I cover 6 states including mine (CO) and have yet to find a dead spot, couldn't say that about XM.
