Second Battery Questions
Julian replied to Frostedflakejake's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
i never used an isolator. As Jay-Cee said if you're regularly driving your vehicle and it isn't sitting around for insane amounts of time. You should be ok i had 140+AH in my trunk and i could always start. -
why not send it into Scott the one who designed the woofers at RE?
-
most local shops can do basic boxes. it's not total rocket science. basic L port and some carpet with a whole in the face of it.
-
Just because you can doesn't mean you have to.
-
I would agree, half the stuff i have learned was from Sean, he does come off as kind of dick. But do you learn from someone who is hard on you and gives you factual answers or do you learn from someone who nurtures you and doesn't challenge you?
-
x2 high 160's like 163 ithink at the time was his highest, i can't remember but i think it was atleast 20k in total if i remember right each were getting about 1666rms each
-
Agreed.
-
A Saz-1500 would be more appropriate for the Level 4 XL. Going from 1500-2000 watts you will not hear an audible difference. If you don't know how to run a sub over its rms rating i wouldn't. like Jay-Cee said there are a lot of factors to consider. You can get a refurbished 1500 from Db-r for a very reasonable price for a very high quality amplifier.
-
They handle up to 1500 watts, just because the power handling says 1500 watts doesn't mean you have to power it all that way.
-
Each sub? You won't get a Nightshade, Warden, or MT for $250 each. I wish you good luck, i highly doubt you would be able to find any reputable subwoofer that handles 3k daily for less than 500 dollars.

Port AND subs firing up in SUV bad? comparison between port firing bac
Julian replied to antonmiller's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
he could make an underbody battery rack like smd did -
double layered 1/2 or double 3/4 works too. you can go to lumbar yards and buy 1 inch from there too.
-
i would double baffle (or if you're using larger wood you can single baffle. for my bl i used 1inch) and also use allthread rods for support in the box, the BL's are pretty hefty woofers.
-
thats what my local shop charges ~50 dollars an hour
-
where were the LED's connected to? on the board or did you wire it to something else?
-
i may have to come up to canada!
-
most problems are 90% human error and 10% manufacturer error, i owned my BL for a year+. instead of wiring it to 2 ohms i accidentally wired it to .5 ohms and thought something was wrong, nick walked me through everything and then found out the problem. he later called me and let me know what was going on. Whatever your experience is obviously a new phenomena to Nick. Have you even tried using it on another amp? have you tried to measure the load when it is all wired up? I would rather buy a recone from the company that made a very high quality woofer.

couldn't you install the batteries under the rear seats? the D3100's aren't too tall. you could try to squeeze some extra space out of that or try the Sundown Audio Nightshades as they prefer 4-5cuft boxes per sub for the 18's -
look at all that ass!

You could try CRX style box, i'm not quite sure how it would work in an SUV -
This applies with anything you want to buy worth any value. You seek what other people say, would you buy car worth 30 grand that will only last 100,000 miles and will need constant maintenance? or would you buy a quality car that could last double that with minimal upkeep? RD is very very shady. Personally customer service for me is 90% of the appeal to me 10% of the product. If something breaks (and its inevitable) I want to be able to have a quick response and be able to get things repaired in a timely manner.

piss. figures, after i just got one of the old ones. ggrrr lol Look around on other forums i bet people are selling them. or look in our FS/FT thread http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/Almost-FI-Q-12-t35219.html you can ask nick if he could recone+rebasket to a 15

Holy crap no way. You are condoning doing business with the shadiest internet car audio company EVER. Just plain wrong, even if his stuff performed which in general it doesn't it would be a completely idiotic maneuver to buy anything from Steve. 1 minute of searching and you'll find at least 50 people he's screwed. Really easy. :( wof131: I dare you to do the same thing with SSA. I'm aware of one person that Mark and Aaron wouldn't warranty a subwoofer for, an XCON that was abused. I'd rather buy subwooders from a shady crack dealer than RD, just look on other forums and you'll see it's just not an SSA biased thing.

haha duran, Should we pull a Jay and Silent bob beat down?
