Before M5 jumps on you, SQ and SPL are COMPLETELY COMPLETELY COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! SQL does not exist. These two terms are never to be used in the same sentence and never worded together.

i love the basket.

Just bought me a new car.. New setup, new everything. Basic Specs Trunk Space: 13.4 ! Horsepower (SAE net @ rpm) 305 @6,500!!!! Super fast engine for a V6 MPG: 19 city/31 Hwy automatic, EPA-estimated (I get about 21.5 city) Bore and Stroke (mm.) 95.5 x 86.7 Compression Ratio 11.0:1 Torque (lb.-ft. @ rpm) 280 @4,250 Now some pics

The Right Electrical System for your Stetsom
Julian replied to Jeff Stetsom's topic in Stetsom Amplifiers
This is a very basic thing to understand but it seems like most don't. -

Some pics... this car will be so sweet to mod. There will be no holes drilled! There are about 2-3 of these and a couple smaller, the larger one pictured fits 2/0 very easily, could accept 3/0 Threaded holes, may use these to ground there are a bout 4 in the trunk total. A better grounding location, goes straight down to the frame. No spare FTMFW, Gel kit, has runflat liquid in it. i think i can fit about 3 XS D3100 And last but not least, a little engine pRon for Duran ;D

haha, For the Xcons i'd go with a Sundown Audio 35000d. That's what i was going to get if i was gonna get the Xcons, i'll be doing 3 10's in an 11' mustang . Are you going to do a double din touch screen or just a regular single din player?

Thats what i had thought, do they not like low voltage drops?

Can't beat sundown amps:P I love Alpine decks Such as my old one ida x-202 which is a media HU (only did mp3, ipod/iphone, and radio) and batteries of course Xs How did you like the Goliath's? always wondered how they performed.

Yeah He lives oh.. about 4 hours out of kansas city near table rock lake.

i'd love to check it out.. nothing in the stang..yet

Answer these questions for us * Previous products that you have used (i.e. amplifiers if its an amplifier question, etc) * Budgetary constraints * Vehicle which the equipment will be used in * Other products you have heard, but have not owned that you enjoyed & their install particulars. * Musical preferences * System goals * List any research you have previously done

lol, you won't think so when you see it. Especially bolted to an 18" basket. Of course, motor size really means nothing over all. What are you talking about Motor size automatically coincides with penis size ;D So these will handle 1000 watts and from sized 10-18's? What will you be able to burp them at? WIll you let me test them? Would love to see you fit a monster coil in there

programs such as audacity or wavepad sound editor will work nicely

Even though i hate trucks like yours, this is one exception, hella sexy.

RF T1500BD or Stetsom 1K5
Julian replied to lazeris's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
stetsom is said to be as high as 90% efficiency, but the BD technology is apparently supposed to be very efficient also. I would go with the stetsom, they have a small footprint and also the thing about fosgate amps, if the thermal protect breaks you're in trouble. -
batt question
Julian replied to CrownVic's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
IIRC optima's aren't very good for car audio. From what i've read they tend to burn up under the high stress. I would suggest the Deka's or if you wanna spend a little more go with the Xs batteries. -
OOh, i see a copper ring to lower inductance.. sweeet

DAMN YOU JACOB! always adding things to my wish-list! It's gonna be sick. still waiting for mids

Contact BKOLFO4, and if i remember correctly i was quoted about 200 bucks shipped for the 6.5's and i don't think they make 6x9's either.

Time to upgrade the sub. Need help designing a box.
Julian replied to wkollmeyer's topic in Fi Technical
I agree more port area or another Q. No reason to scrap your current set up, either build another box for the single, or get another 12. And i believe duran is correct, port back subs up like a typical CRX box. Basically like this but this person used Aeroports instead. -
If you are only using a single coil of a DVC driver and leave the other coil open Qes and hence Qts would double, sensitivity would decrease by 3db, motor force (Bl^2/Re) is halved, the inductive corner frequency doubles and power handling is decreased (some argue that power handling is not cut completely in half because the 2nd coil helps act essentially as a heat sink which helps dissipate some of the heat, but I've never seen any testing done to confirm power handling of a single coil compared to both coils). I found this link by accident one day a couple years ago, and it shows a good comparison of a driver's change in T/S parameters with coils wired in series, parallel, one coil driven the other shorted (for both coils), and then one coil driven and the other open (for both coils); woofertester.com If you are interested in the math of why the above happens, you can skim through the formulas for the T/S parameters here on Wikipedia. Resistively Damped Operation can be accomplished by only driving one coil and using a resistor or potentiometer across the 2nd coil to "change" the Q of the driver. This was the entire premise behind the old Ascendant Atlas driver. Yes, they really are. If you want to calculate the efficiency of your subs (or any other speaker), you would use the formula found here; Efficiency (N0) = 9.64 * 10^(-10) * Fs^3 * Vas / Qes *To express as a percent, multiply by 100 *Vas in liters So, for example the Efficiency of a 12" SSA Icon is; 9.64 * 10^(-10) * 29.9^3 * 43.7 / 0.45 = .002502 .002502*100 = .2502% And to verify, to convert this into SPL 112+10*log(.002502) = 85.98db And the sensitivity of the SSA Icon according to their specs; Spl 86.0 1W/1m TaaDaa!! So the SSA Icon converts .25% of the power you feed it to acoustic power, the remaining 99.75% is spent as heat. That's extremely interesting Impious. Great read, you should put this in the technical section!
