You're going to have to buy from a private seller to get anything decent with that amount of money. I would look for something you see driven by older people. They tend to drive less and take better care of their vehicles. Be careful though as some may not be maintained at all. It's really all about common sense and you're taking a good measure by taking it to a mechanic first. That's what I was thinking. Also I wanted to look for a car that had fairly cheap/accessible parts and a car that's reliable too. I'm not Pro american or Pro foreign.. just looking or something that'll do well for a few years.

Personally I'd go from what you have on your battery terminal to something like this

My girlfriend is looking to buy a used car (around 2 grand), what should we look for? Are there any steps to prevent her from buying a lemon? I had suggested asking the seller to allow us to take it to a shop I trust (Family was in transmission business for sometime) Any other things? ANyone else feel free to chime in too.

It's a great little device. I do have to admit, I did get one that came with some problems from the factory. I am able to remedy a few of those problems but will end up having ot send it back for a replacement. That being said, it is lightning fast. It's pretty nice to run/install something intensive on my laptop and be able to view it from my tablet. While I'm waiting for stuff on my laptop to load I close out the program and do other work on the tablet. I'm ready to get the dock that turns it into a mini laptop. After that I'll see what kind of productivity I can get out of it. If anything, it will be fun for surfing, games, mild productivity (Calender, people app, gmail, email, etc...) Yeah, that's pretty cool.

Hey Tirefryr, I know you're a gear head and very knowledgeable about cars.. My girlfriend is looking to buy a used car (around 2 grand), what should we look for? That's cool, Hydraulics in Tech school was my favorite part of learning about aircrafts. 90% of the systems are ran off of Hydraulics.

I'm at the shop today. Had to supervise some undergrads. What do you do? I run one of the shops for the college. Basically I help facilitate all research, labs, and lab classes within the dept. Currently have ~12mil total in projects ongoing right now in the dept. Ah KState? That's pretty cool.

My SAX-125.2 has completely stopped working. I took a look at it today and it just stalls into protect. Inspected the inside and nothing is blown, however I found 1 fuse blown and replaced it with the same amp rating (20amp) and it is still in the protection loop. The amp was fine until aprox a week ago it would randomly turn off for a second then pop on. There was also a very high pitched sound coming from presumably the amp. any ideas?
