    Welcome to the IHoP

We use Stream Lights at work, they are some tanks we use them for more than their intended use. We leave em on for hours, we use them as hammers, etc lol. They're pricey but for the amount of use we put them through I would buy one.

    diminished power

simple... you got used to it

Yeah people at work are always asking for advice in car audio.... I give them a price for what they want subs/instillation wise and they bring up something thas not even within the same level they want for less.

For the 4runner? I'd fire at the rear gate r push them as far back as possible, mount the drivers as far back as possible and fire up. I thought they were in a pickup.........I might be behind the power curve though. J Yes this is for the 4runner. I am thinking box right behind the back seat firing toward the rear gate and mounting the amps on the floor between the subs and gate. I am going to sell the F150. Nem You need to go ported! I gave it a thought, but I would rather stay sealed. I just like how 18's sound sealed. I think you'll love them ported too though!

    WOOOOSH comes to mind
  8. What? We suggested a superior product over an inferior one for about the same price... When you give us a this VS this thread we will tell you which one is a better product....

    HDC3 or UFO BTL

HDC's are Chinese made... so basically they produce the sub for... 30-40$ a piece and sell them for how much? The BTL's are machined here with materials sourced from here (granted not all but nearly) and sell them for nearly the same price. Also If you've seen the inside of the motor the "cooling" vents look like they were drilled by a drunk 5 year old.

This is drawn incorrectly. The voltage pushes the current through the resistance. The ohm guy should be in front of the amp guy. The pipeline or wire they are traveling down runs through the device (resistance), not below it. Not sure where I found it but I thought it was hilarious..

    Amp gains

etting your gains with an o-scope is idiotic. reasons being: - You can't hear even significant distortion in sub frequencies so why set it at "no" distortion - Not all CD's are recorded at the same level so what level do you set it at with the o-scope? - You can't hear the difference between 900w and 1000w so why do you care if you set it to 1000w? (you can take this a lot further than 10% btw) - Everyone ignores the resolution of the Oscope and assumes that a mostly rounded wave means no distortion. It would be a good exercise for you to see a 5% distorted wave in the time domain and then reduce the spatial resolution. No clipping and clipping can easily look the same There are more, but you get the picture. There is really no logic in using a DMM, Oscope, Distortion detector (ROFL) for setting gains. The reason the oscope was made popular on forums is that people were using DMM's and setting their gains to a voltage that their amps were rated for but couldn't produce cleanly at all. If you are dumb enough to need "every last drop" then the oscope is better than the DMM but that isn't saying anything.

    HDC3 or UFO BTL

mostly because the majority of the people recommeding the FI sub have never owned or heard one. OP if you want to go with the HDC do 7cubes net, 16^2 port area and tune 34-35Hz if you plan to mostly play low stuff. I run a single 18" HDC in my daily driver... There are obvious reasons to pick the BTL over the HDC any day...

    Welcome to the IHoP

Im stationed in wichita, KS but originally from Kansas City, MO I wanted to something to represent my native heritage... I'm 25% Kiowa and 25% Potawatomi but there isn't a whole lot of information in comparison to other tribes which is my main issue. On the Potawatomi I couldn't advise, but the Kiowa is a US Army Chopper. There should be a good bit online about the tribe's history. J I ahven't found much in terms of tattoo ideas.
