Wow really! If I could get a DC Power alt for the price of these alts I would be all over that. I contacted him by email last time. Is the best way to get in touch with him? -

I would be weary about purchasing an alt for 250 amps at $268, just my .02. Nothing to be weary about if it doesn't perform as expected I can send it back and get my money back. Also has a 1 year warranty. Mechman told me once installed I couldn't send it back if not satisfied. -

between the two alts mentioned? -
On the other hand they probably would do around the same power (audiopipe @ 4ohms, sundown @ 1 ohm). As mentioned in another thread the audiopipe would be more efficient @ 4 ohms, thus easier on the electrical. You would have room to upgrade ( drop the audiopipe to 2 ohms). I change my vote to audiopipe.
-
With the audiopipe being 2 ohm stable. How would you wire 2 dual 1's to a 2 ohm load mono or 1 ohm per channel parallel? You could do 2 ohms per channel on the audiopipe, but I think the sundown would put out more power at 1 ohm than the audiopipe wired at 2 ohms per channel. I would get the sundown and run it at 1 ohm.

Amp cut off, low voltage why?
crownvicon24's replied to raolito1980's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Have your batteries load tested. Especially the rear one and as mentioned in another post check your ground on your rear battery. -

This is the what I was thinking but I figured everyone would say Mechman. I am leaning toward the Db alt just wanted to get some opinions before I purchased. -
whats needed to support 3000w+ 400w
crownvicon24's replied to tosh's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
See how it does with your new batteries before you get a ho alt. Its a slim chance you might not need one depending on your listening habits. If your getting major drops then I would look into a ho alt. What amps you running? -

My setup is in my sig. You would need atleast a 200 amp alt. I would do a dedicated ground run with my pos run of 1/0. Some would say this is not necessary, but I definitely believe it helps. I drop from 14.0 volts to 12.8 volts full tilt while driving. A 250 amp alt with those batteries should keep you around 13 volts permitting all wiring and connections are good. -

I have one upfront. I didnt get mine from him though. These batteries are deka's. The place I got mine from said these batteries had something cosmetically wrong with them when they were manufactured. For example: scratched, dented, etc. They function as they normally would, but only have cosmetic blemishes. He said that they wouldnt sell their batteries in stores if they werent perfect cosmetically. I wouldnt be afraid to get these batteries. The one I have upfront works great.

X2 about the trunk latch. I had to get mine welded for a second time yesterday and mine is only tuned to 33hz. These trunks cannot handle a moderate size setup. Therefore I also vote for the lincoln.

Will it make a big enough difference in upgrading quality of my midrange amp but not power to be worth it? Will it make a difference in the sound of my? Or is 400 watts 400 watts and switching amps to a higher quality amp of the same power not make a noticable difference?

I know it sounds crazy but with the setup in this car I dont want to run components. I probably will run them in my other car. -

You might not want to go this route but I have a rewound alt from Mr. Alternator. Its not the best but it gets the job done.
