    Welcome to the IHoP

guess i should drop in and say hello. been a few days since i last posted. sitting at work, waiting for the rush to come in, lol. like that is going to happen. who wants to invest in a shop? really thinking about opening my own, but i don't think my credit is strong enough to do it on my own. really hate working for a place where i have to worry about paychecks not clearing. all the guys here said they'll go with me, so finding employees isn't an issue. and a customer base? lol, all i have to do is tell them i'm opening my own, and this place won't have any customers. yay for me. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    RL-p12 D2 Enclosure question

when i first insatalled my rl-p, it was in the 1.25 box with a 750wrms going to it. and according to the voltmeter, the hifonics amp will do just over 850 full tilt, but it's clipped like a mofo. gain set just over halfway, barely clipping on music (measured with an oscope) and the voltmeter shows jsut over 450wrms. i had the gain over that, just i'd guess in the 500-600 range. and it performed beautiful. it loves ported though, lol. the rl-p will flat out get down in a ported box. and i'd go with denim's recommendation...1.5@34. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Sound splinter RLi-10 true power handling

i've hit my rl-i8 with 1700wrms. it surely didn't like it though, lol. 900 per sub is probably a bit much, but liek mentioned above, if your easy on the gains, i'm sure they'll live. personally, i'd stay in the under 750 range with them. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

What kind of box do you suggest?

lol at jim... tuning at 28hz, you might as well go sealed. to be honest, i hated my 28hz box. while jsut about every sub sounded good in it, output was lacking, and the bottom end wasn't all that reinforced compared to a larger sealed box. personally, i'll never tune below 34hz in car again. seems to be a magical number as far as sq and output is concerned. it always seems to offer a nice mix of both. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    SUV Choice

yeah, steer clear of durangos. blazer or explorer, and while i'm a bowtie guy, i believe the explorer's are the louder of the two. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    new addition to the family...

i have thought about going that route, i dont know, nothing that big will be done for quite a while so i've got plenty of time to decide. and it's a 3 speed get those pics up! lol, i'm lazy, i tell ya. ok, 3 spd. i'd lose that, lol. but i'd still turbo the 6. was talking about that yesterday, everybody agrees. be different. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    RL-p12 D2 Enclosure question

personally, i'd try 1.25ft^3 sealed, no polyfill. teh bigger the box, the "looser" the sound. while a big sealed box is going to be nice and boomy, it'll also tend to be muddy for the fast stuff. my rl-p absolutely kicked ass in 1.25ft^3 sealed. yep, ported will definitely get you louder. 1.5-1.75@34hz would indeed kick ass. DON'T turn up your crossover point though. leave it at 80 or under. anything higher, and your getting into midbass, and the rl-p isn't a midbass driver. for rock, i think you'll like the 15.-1.75@34hz box. it'll till drop low, but it'll nail those kicks!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    Fi Q 18 vs Sound Splinter RLp18

soundsplinter. because mike is too cute not to buy from, lol. in reality, i don't have a clue. both mike and scott are outstanding people, both have far better then average customer service, and both provide killer product at killer prices. i'd have to say buy the one that better fits the budget. meaning, cost of sub, amp, install. otherwise, i don't think you can make a wrong decision here. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

help choosing a pair of 15s

the q at the lower power for sure. the 9515 at the 3kwrms easily wins, IMO. personally, for what your after, i think the dd sub would be your best choice. build your box with a changeable port and i don't see why the dd can't provide enough sq/ output to help one win in both fields. especially since your going to need a strong front stage in order to win sq or really good output from the subs to make up the points. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    Big 3 issue

like kinda touched on in the post above, when you do the big three, you're not replacing anything. your adding too the factory. you leave whatever is already in place alone, and simply add the big three to the existing factory wiring. if you wnat to run from your alternator to your rear battery, i don't see an issue. make sure you use large enough wire and if your super safety minded, fuse on both ends. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    new addition to the family...

looks good tom. i dare you to do something different! instead of the typical SBC or BBC, turbo that 6. leave the 4 spd, and make that 6 scream. be bold, be different...be the yeti we all know you are!! and your making me feel lazy. you just get yours and already pics are up. i still haven't even taken pics of the fox body.... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  22. the dual or jensen are pretty damn equal in all aspects. i've installed both more then a few times over. seen both have similiar issues, but mostly due to customer abuse. the valor piece we now carry is better then both and the same price. it's made by the same people, but doesn't require a toggle switch to see video. simply ground the parking brake wire. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    New SUV Build Up

don't build until you know what brands you are going to carry. you are going to want your customers wanting what's in your vehicle. you build with products not in your store, your basicly telling your customers that what your store carries isn't good enough for your ride. when you do decide which products your going to carry, only install the top of the line stuff. make your install all but out of reach, they'll want what you have and will go to great lengths (and dollars) to achieve what you have. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
