not only pinpoint the heat, but you can vary the heat as well on the run. it's also way cleaner, less slag/splatter going about. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

For me it all depends on what I am welding and how big the difference is. You can only get full penetration on the thinner material, now you can use a copper backing plate to soak heat out of the thinner material while welding, or put more heat on the thicker material by the way you hold the torch. As long as you get good penetration on the thinner material I'd call it good. What are you welding? Different subject, one of my biggest problems with MIG welding is that it seems to me a LOT of people never have it turned up hot enough, sure you can get what looks to be a decent bead to sit on the surface, but don't be afraid to turn the voltage and wire speed up. If your interested I have a Lincoln Electric Arc Welding book that I'd be willing to part with (I have two of them), it has about everything you could ever want to know with welding, be it ARC, MIG, TIG, or Gas. to go along with what he touched on, i usually will have the welder set for the thicker metal and i'l work the torch as to keep most of the heat on the thicker stuff. i'll work at two different speeds, basiclly, i'll drag the puddle over to the thinner stuff just long enough for good penetration and then run it right back over to the thicker stuff, staying longer there for penetration. ryan2 is right about MIG, most set it up for a nice pretty bead, but little penetration. i'll run up the voltage/wirespeed and make my bead with pace. thinner stuff, run faster, thick stuff, slow down. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

ummm, no? i remember thinking it had anti locks, turn right and grab brakes....it did neither. meaning turn or stop, lol. that's a fairly large area, i thought i could just do a quick 180 or so and be on my way. boy, was i wrong! and it was early evening, no rain, so no really wet grass, maybe damp. but tires on the car are < 3 months old, brakes ~ 1 month. hell, i don't know. the whole thing is just flat weird. and to top it off, the last two days i've developed a pain between my shoulder blades, centered off to the left. sends a stab of pain up my neck whenever i turn my head to the left. and i can't sleep worth a crap. so i get to call my chief today and see what he wants me to do. yay for me. thanks for the concern tom. like previously mentioned, i was way lucky. did i mention that that was the only time that day i didn't have a seatbelt on? yeah...talk about timing. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee What the heck, that timing was awful I hope the pain is nothing serious. doctor tomorrow at 10:15. hopefully it's nothing. pain isn't serious, on a scale of 10, it's about a 4 when i turn my head and about a 2 when i'm doing nothing. more of a nuicance then anything right now. but i don't want it to get worse. yeah...worse timing ever, lol. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

burton..i honestly don't know how fast i was going went i wnt into the creek..i'm guessing more then 50, less then 70... sorry sean, no pics taken of me,lol...and the chin is healed now. teh inside, my playback, was freaky. that moment of there is nothing i can do to make this stop and that moment of you know it's going to hurt, and a whole bunch of slamming around. and yeah, the car might have been malfunctioning, dunno. brakes were definitely bad, the esp (traction control) is very invasive and unpredictable. it even tries to work going to through corners, and that might be what set the whole thing off. the car felt weird, like i was losing it without losing it. it didn't react right and then it reacted...of course i could just be a crappy driver, lol. and yeah, it could have gone way worse then it did...i am waaaaay lucky. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

that's where i "parked" the charger, looking down off the bridge.... pulling it out. gives you an idea of how far down i flew. it's wings sucked. i missed this, i was in the hospital. almost out....looks like it's got a booger or two... and it's out. it doesn't have a chin anymore and i poked an eye out. the inside is as bad..i broke the sterring wheel and it's shaft. i also broke the dash mounted gear shift. i had a steering wheel tread mark on my chin the next day, it's gone now though.... i know, the pics suck, but they are cell phone, whatcha want me to do?? lol wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

That thing got a hemi? Shooooooooot, yeah it does, ah geee gee gee! oh hell...i need that hat!!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

pics are coming...soon. i don't really have good ones.... and we have no in car camera, though that would have been funny. i'm pretty sure just before i launched i said outloud, "this is going to hurt"....i know i thought it, lol wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

for those that asked....i'm fine. will go back to wrok wednesday, had to miss just a couple of days. dunno why the airbags didn't deploy, thinking about getting a lawyer. brakes were shit too, and they were less then a month old. car shook like hell at the top of the hill (when i really slowed down), and according to a witness, fishtailed (hence me saying it stepped out) just before i launched the car. and nope, because i responding to a call that required me to run above the speed limit and code (lights/siren), i am in no trouble at all. those accidents happen and are forgiveable. and we all hated the charger anyway, lol. and no, i didn't yell out yahoo as i launched, lol. i'm no duke of hazzard, though i tried. i do feel a bit like roscoe though...... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
-
now this I have to hear long story short....i was responding to a fight call, the rear of the car stepped out, i overcorrected,(i think that's what happened) and at about 50mph (slowed down from about 90) i launched the charger about 15 ft down into a creek. it didn't swim very well, i got a concussion. no airbags deployed..and the charger has no front end. i've got cell phone pics that i'll eventually gt uploaded. and that's the just of the story, lol... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

We should have a moderator whoring fest in here some night. Agreed on both accounts AND we should suspend the others' posting abilities so they don't fuck us up. lol, you want to put a gag order on the mickey mouse club, i love it! a permanent gag order would be spectacular name a night, lol. i'm off till wednesday, so let me know. ( i tried to see if the charger could swim, tell you about it later, lol) wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

that is just too cool...and he's named meatloaf, lol! you have got to get a vid of him killing the mouse. pacman frog, i gotta look into these things wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

X2. I'm still catching up Your going to be here a while, me and Duran really tore it up tonight. :bigclap: We decided when it was on page 14,990 that we wanted 15,000 pages by the end of the night. I'm just glad to be rid of that damned flood control. It's some Next time you N00BS whore up the forum post in your first posts if not, the posts are going bye-bye... It's annoying to sift through 10 pages of whoring. and just 10 pages? that's weak....real weak. damn, i guess one of these nights us "old timers" should really whore it up. watch this bitch grow by a few hundred pages. and remember kiddies...in the first whore post, edit it to read where the whoring ends...ie: SKIP to page XXXXXX and when finished, edit the last post to read where the whoring started, ie: USELESS posts started on page XXXXXXX....that way when we do catch up, we can skip to actual conversation. and noone will ever bitch about your whoring that way. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

sealed and mojo shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. and mojo shouldn't be considered for anything remotely sounding good. also, best spl and sealed don't go together. you might want to look into a single ported 15 vs two sealed ones, otherwise, of your two options, grab the Qs. 155+ on music is a definition of loud? most people won't/can't/ are smart enough to NOT sit in a vehicle doing 155+. that is INSTANT hearing damage. and just plain stupid. a good loud DD would be high 30's, low 40's, and even that is loud enough to hurt one ears. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
-
mojos aren't bad subs. can get very loud, but aren't all that efficient. they will eat some power, and most of the time will take some serious abuse. a good spl sub if one wants mainstreme brand name. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

as mentioned above, box is going to determind alot, that said... i loved my cvx15. while box specs escape me at this point, IIRC it was a kicker recommended size, mine was powered by ~750wrms in a trailblazer. it was indeed loud and low. getting high 30's legal off a factory headunit, the sub did it's best with a subpar install. are there compareable subs? absolutely. most will probably sound better as the cvx is definitely geared towards output. the offerings from this very board, soundsplinter, fi, SSA, sundown and mach5, should all be looked at while looking at the cvx. they'll all have something that'll run with or exceed the cvx, all else being equal. and install is the main thing. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

it's late, i know, but i was at work yesterday for 12 hours. sorry big bro! anyway, happy belated bday, hope it was a fun and safe one!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

do you kill the mouse or let the frog do it?? does he ever go for your fingers?? mouse eating frog, lol....that's too cool. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i love the rl-i, i've given my 8" version 1700wrms, although it hated it. small and sealed enclosures it works very well in. the kicker sub is way more at home in a ported box. will work in a sealed one, but don't like them, unless they are of the larger variety. the ssd has proven iteself among the internet crowd. i have no experience with them, so no real useful info. the only re product i've played with was an xbl^2 xxx, and i like my soundsplinter rl-p better. not saying re is a bad product, but from experience, there is better out there for the money. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
