Memphis 16-ST1000
mrray13 replied to johnnylemoine's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
for burps, yes. for daily, not unless you have a very stout electrical system. i have ran the st 1500d at one ohm daily, but it really ups it's current consumption, and it shut off quite a bit. in any case, the st series were the best line, i really don't like the current mc lineup, though they aren't supposed to be much different save heatsink. they just don't seem to hold up quite as well as the earlier st series did. again though, make sure you have a solid electrical system for those st1000ds before burping to be safe. they'll handle it, but they'll liek it even more if they have the current to back them up. at least IME. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -
there are better drivers out there for that kind of money to do what you want to do. the x2 subs aren't ,IME, a sub designed for sq first, spl second. they are a ported box boom machine that enjoy power. for what you are wanting, look at SSA ICON or the SI Mag. the ICON is well under the $500 price tag(~$250 IIRC), has similiar power handling, sounds loads better and gets loud when needed. i haven't heard the new MAG yet, it's a bit pricer, is shallower mount and if it's anything like the previous gen, it'll do what's asked of it. also, look into the Fi Q. very promising sub by all accounts. my vote is the ICON. i love that sub! or you can buy my x2 for the $250 and if need be, add the neo motor later. will be under the $500, i'm sure, and you'll have an extra motor. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

dave, and to whomever cares... annualcreditreport.com you get one free report per year, per company. meaning, you get one fre from transunion, one free from equifaz and one from experian. so you can get up to 3 free per year, and at the above mentioned site, there is no hidden anything. so states do allow up to two a year, so that could mean 6. taken from from msn money wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i know brother. i laugh at all the guys on their 30k plus customs, or their brand new harley's (which after 06, ALL are fuel injected) who rev at stop lights. yeah, they are really loading up and need rev'd. stupid asses. yeah, there are those with huge motors, massive cams and such which might indeed load up, and there are those old scoots out there still that simply won't idle no matter what, but for the most part, they do it because they think it's cool. idiots. all of them. and not just the harley guys, but the rockets as well. today the wife and i went to the Blessing of the Bikes, with a couple of friends. all of us have some form of aftermarket exhaust, yet we could hold a conversation running down the road. yes, they get mean if we are cranking on them, but at cruising speeds, just a nice mellow rumble. something actually enjoyable to listen too. in any case, wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -
damn, and i was thinking i wanted too much for mine at $250 shipped. aluminum cone, ceramic motor. i was going to grab the neo motor as well, but we had it on a honeycomb cone and it got tore up. it was sent off before i could grab the motor. as far as performance goes, it's a good subwoofer. it likes power, alot of it, lol. run it ported, give it power and it'll go boom. i don't think they are worth $500, even with the neo, but that is just my opinion. also, the audio pulse brand is about dead. they are in bankruptcy. everything at PE right now is buyout, IIRC. i do know tc sounds/audiopulse are in court. dunno how long audiopulse will be around. and yeah, my x2 is still for sale. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

fabricator for a custom sign company. again, lol. seems like i can't get away from welding in some shape or form. maybe the city of cairo will call soon though. then it'll be police officer. or maybe the state of illinois. then it'll be prison guard. kinda hoping for the pd gig though. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

good to hear steve. my work is actualyl cranking up, lol. also, with martial art training three days a week, i have little time for much else. speaking of which, i will be testing for my yellow belt next tuesday. i can pass now, but he wants to wait until another student is more comfortable. that same student might not be the same after last night's sparring, lol. he cam at me with a jumping side kick thing, i plant a front kick right in his ribs, he lost his balance and BAM! crashed shoulder first on the floor. that floor is concrete with a 1/4" worth of plastic carpet, no mats yet. his shoulder swelled up huge! hope he's ok, but at the same time, lol, i was kinda stoked!! and it's time for me to go. new victim tonight. he's already a yellow belt, but after our kata's and stuff, it's sparring time! hehe wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

NEW LAW!!!! (important read) everyone please
mrray13 replied to scizzle's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
After sitting in something like Nick's truck at full volume, there is definitely a difference between pure silence and the kind of pressure differential you'd get in one of these walled-off "daily drivers" lol, true that. and i believe it's because of deaf people, or loud music, some police forces are actually using sub sonic frequencies to let you know they are behind you. it's like a 20-25hz note at 120db (or something like that) directed straight at you. you feel them behind you, deaf or not. i'll have to find a link, but there is video of it up somewhere, probably youtube. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -
i'm also going to add this, when i get a reported pm, i read the offending the link (if it hasn't already been dealt with). regardless of who you are reporting. but if in my OPINION, it's not offending, insulting or whatever teh case may be, i let it go. if i feel as though something needs to be done, i do it. key word though, OPINION. sometimes wjsut might not agree that the post/thread is wrong or has anything wrong with it. no offense intended, but we are human. and we have our own views. my $.04. jsut so i can say i put in more then nick. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

NEW LAW!!!! (important read) everyone please

i wish every state had that law, would cut down on traffic congestion big time as well as traffic accidents. anyway, i welcome the law however the impounding is a little extreme but ticket the f***ers to the hill till thier wallet teaches them to respect others NY has the cell phone laws too, as well as text messaging fines as well. (working on that part atleast) That should be a nationwide law. ummm, i live in illinois and do that quite a bit. never been pulled over. it's not smart, and i know it, but i do it. and yeah, i agree it should be nationwide. and if i get pulled over for it, i won't bitch. it'll be my own fault. to the OP, i do agree that it shouldn't be "heard 25ft" away, that it should indeed be metered and a definitive db level would have to be reached. otherwise, who's to say it not just some cop picking on you. and like previously mentioned, if you are given a speeding ticket and the gun isn't calibrated, out goes the ticket. again,. they should have to prove you were a very specific level of loud. i'd wager one could beat the ticket in court. no real proof= reasonable doubt. reasonable doubt= no trouble. and ryan1, lay off the harley's, lol. no msutang sounds anywhere as good as my pig does! but to be honest, you are correct. it's a definite bias, and while i'm on the harley side of it, i don't agree with it. i just recently put the baffles back into my python slip ons due to how loud the scoot was without them. annoyed me as i was riding, that's how loud it was for me. i can only imagine what other people felt. as far as driving goes and not hearing sirens, i believe it was steve who had a quote in his sig about that. something to due with the fact that a deaf person can get a license, so why does it matter if you can hear them (the sirens) or not? and LB, don't tug on superman's cape bro. you are ticking off people who have long fuses, you had better tone it down. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -
unless the factory box is 6" deep or so, the rl-i or compareable 8, isn't going to fit. i'm looking at my rl-i8 and i'm pretty sure it won't fit int eh majority of any vehicle's factory sub location. isn't sundown producing an 8 now? it's a bit lower on the power side of things, but it's available. also, SSA is coming out with their own 8 very soon, and it'll be at least compareable powerwise. i imagine it'll be just as solid as their ICONs are as well as far as output/sq goes. i love my ICON. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i slept through the first one this morning, even though i was awaken by the alarm clock just a few minutes later, and didn't feel the second either. the wifey did feel the second one and evidently it caused some damage around here, southern illinois. wow, zane was here!! awesome! and my $.02 goes like this. if one is building a daliy driver enclosure, glue and brads are plenty more then adequate. the glue is the ultimate holding force in that application, and most DDs usually don't create enough presuure to test it. that said, if one is building a spl enclosure and plans on using big power, ie; 10kwrms or more, i'd suggest screws with the glue and resin. i've seen plenty of brad/glued boxes come apart due to the pressures created. and always at the joints. and where does one get those screws pictured above? i've not seen anything like them locally (southern illinois) and we have menards, home depot and lowes. and since i have a huge box to build sometime this summer, i'd like to give those a go. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
