ok, i downloaded the track that tom suggested...Dimmu Borgir - Puritania...and the eight reproduced it very well. not quite as well as the rl-p, which rocks, but it did a great job nonetheless. i will do this again with a different box and see if that helps. that track is now going to be added to my play list everytime i test a sub..wow, the double kick drums are intense! tomorrow, the funky pup goes boom in the trunk..lol.. anyway, eric, i have no clue as to IB. u'll have to email mike. anybody no where i can get a TL design for this beast?? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Dimmu Borgir - Puritania, right at the beginning... you'll get the idea we want to know how other size boxes work too i was planning about 1Kw i'll see if i can find that.. and 1kw would be pretty sweet...maybe .25ft^3 each... i'll do what i can on the box sizes and finding that song.. unless u want to send it to me..lol wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

ok..lol.. it's 3/4" mdf. i used 1" as a table. the box is made from scraps. tom, any suggestions as to what to play? mike, so about .5-.75ft^3, 15in^2 of port..tuned to 38hz? going to be a big box for the port..lol.. btw..is the 8's displacement about .03ft^3? that's what i used to figure the net of the sealed one. and 2kchevy, the grille is a fishman grille. they retail about $60 for the twelve, but the shop owed me a lil..hehe.. and again, off 400wrms, this sub is impressive. i do believe the box is holding it back some, so a new box will be built, hopefully this weekend. but to be honest, for a small vehicle or confined spaces..this sub would be perfect. a pair of these off 750-800 wrms in the right vehicle would scare ppl for what they are. i do think this sub can compete with the w7, no question. i've had 4 offers to buy it already, lol, and i've only got about 35 minutes of playing time on it..lol... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Linear Motor Technology - A Reference

that's been the reason for some saying the xbl^2 is better..less mass, more efficient..blah,blah,blah.... in real world apps, i doubt anyone will notice a difference..especially just everyday consumers. but hey, i'm not as smart as some of u technical guys when it comes to that end of subs..lol....so what do i know?? anyway, mike has yet to mislead me in anyway, so i'll trust his judgement on the technology. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I could care less about this vs DW's brainchild... I'm thinking in terms of LMT vs "Regular" TC Sounds over & underhungs. Most likely, in the average install (recommended box & nominal power), the difference will be negligible. But for the enthusiasts that are going to build an enclosure around this woofer and put the appropriate power & signal processing into it... I'm thinking the gains & losses of the design will show. But, as you said elsewhere... this is just another useless post. By me this time though. -Nick no, not useless. just a bit beyond my knowledge and understanding. it seems we both agree that to the average joe (like me) the difference is more then likely moot. what we'll notice is the sound quality improvement and (hopefully) gain in spl across the board. like u said, to someone building an enclosure around this technology, those things matter a bunch. especially factoring in soundstage, amp power to sub, componets, tuning or net sealed volume, desired response...yada,yada,yada....but if ur going to throw an rta on it, these are things u need to know. in the end, i guess we'll have to just experiment until the optimum enclosure/app/power is found..lol wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

thanks man!!! so it's about air slowing down at the edges and the actual tuning freq that it produces...in a nutshell... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    guess what i got today???

    hmmmmm... betcha can't guess!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  20. i usually just run a single short one to the first amp, then split it off from there. i've never fused my REM wire, though nick has a point. u can't have too much protection, but then again, never fused, never had an issue...so i guess my whole post is useless..lol.. so what else is new? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

guess who's been running their mouth about SS for over a year?? guess who has one of the first(if not the first) SS rl-p (or any SS sub for that matter) ever mentioned on a forum? guess who has the first rl-i8 sold to the public? yeah, that might not be enough to warrant the first go at the LMT, but it sure outa go a lot longer ways toward then my zip code... so blah blah blah... f0o wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
