???^^^^ and tlm..u get to keep "the whyteness" title, by ryan's admission, ur whiter then he is. and he's got the "scrawny honky" thing all sewn up... and who in their right mind would buy a car from dave? i wonder if he use's the "or else" sales method? i bet he's only like 5'2"...hehe so we gotta give dave the "bounceanator look" award... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Phoenix Gold XS4600
mrray13 replied to flakko's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
i say yes. i used to own a xs2500...250x2 @ 2ohm, 500x1 @ 4 ohm bridged. i ran that sucker at 1 ohm bridged for a week for giggles (i had my st1000d ready to go in). it got hot as hell, but just kept going! i sold it for $250 and that guy still owns it! now, i never benched it, so i'm not sure if they put out thier rated power, but i'd wager it's real close. IME, they are very solid amps, and that 4 channel is worth jsut about every penny u paid for it, assuming the amp looks close to new. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -

i don't believe the curve would be the same. while they are the same type of driver, they do have different t/s parameters and u are starting out with a different nominal impedence. while i do believe they will be similar, i doubt they will be the same. is there anyway you can test the d2's before trading? that way you can be sure that you don't smoke an amp... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Zapco Vs. Diamond
mrray13 replied to dezyrme's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
OR ELSE! ya better do what the "whyteness" says.... i'm already shakin.... but on a serious note, on the flexibility side, the zaps are indeed a bit weak. a hefty price tag, for little options. but u get rock solid performance. and like i stated above, they are damn near impossible to destroy. but that may not justify the price in a daily driver. but when ur doing burp after burp, and all ur after is power, they are extremely hard to beat. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -
effendi's post about soundsplinter's bandwagon (which i like to think i'm partially responsible for) got me to thinking... notice anything different about this one compared to others? like, noone claims the soundsplinter sub is the endall to woofers? the rl-p is a great driver, everybody mentions that, but in certain cases i've seen other subs recommended over it (myself included). be it power issues, money issues or whatever... is this a reflection of the owner? i mean, he'll go so far as to say his driver isn't the one a person wants based upon projected application. he'll also sign his subs, which is totally cool, IMO. i guess what i'm getting at is this, most bandwagons tend to announce the current brand as the only brand. that whichever particular sub is being touted is the only sub to have. for everything. then expectations get real high and if/when the sub doesn't deliver......now u feel like u got robbed. with this one, it's more honest. while the expectation of a great sounding sub is pretty high, it's not outside of reason to expect that. and it's not touted as the end all for subs. whenever soundsplinter is recommended, it almost always seems as though other's are listed. and if a person makes a pretty specific requirement, a few times i've seen ppl say that soundsplinter isn't the best option... well, with all this rambling...i think this is a well deserved and honest bandwagon. one i'm glad to be on. for the product and the person. ok..i'm done.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

the 2500d will be fine...plus it'll give ya a couple of options. with 1200kwrms on tap at 4 ohm, u can also start there. it'll be great on ur electrical system too! if it isn't loud enough, u cna always rewire the subs to get one ohm..and if that isn't loud enough, buy the third sub.. and if u compete, u can have 1200 for daily and 2500+ for comps... u'll be impressed with the rl-p's and 1200, alot. u'll go deaf with 2500, lol....but really watch the gains. 1200wrms is just about all i would ever feed a single rl-p. but they surely don't need it to do their thing... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

that kicker first, if it's one ohm stable.... then the HF...i have to agree with supa and chinny..while overrated a bit, they are good amps. and get the bx1500d if ya get one... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
-
500 each would be sweet. needed? not really, like supa stated, but they'll handle it, easy. for the money, HF is hard to beat. power acoustik comes to mind as a contender, as does directed and jbl. add a few more dollers to the pot and memphis pops in there, as does orion. ppl also seem to like the eD 9.1, which is just a rebadged something...it's 4:45am...gimme a break..lol... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
-
all things considered, about 2800wrms...not a huge gain from the one ohm rating. i was told that down around .33ohm, it'll do around 3kw.. and to back up nick, i've ran mine almost exclusively at .5ohm nominal daily since i've had it. it just keeps going and going and going and going and going and........ wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Zapco Vs. Diamond
mrray13 replied to dezyrme's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
zapco period. without trying to make diamond sound like junk, because i'm sure their not, zapco is a breed above most everything else. i've seen a friend's 4kw's power inputs all but get welded together and the amp never missed a beat. they are some of the strongest, best built amps money can buy. and like tirefryr stated, a zapco owner is a different breed as well. the amp kinda rubs off on them, and nothing else will do. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -
but totally kewl..hehe thanks brad, i appreciate it, regardless of how much bs it really is... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
