no..for two reasons. first, it's a 15 (SI proto) vs 12 (rl-p). because of that i can't use the same boxes. second, the proto has a bit of motor damage due to the chroming process, which at higher power levels lets itself be known. if i could get ahold of the proto 12, u betcha it would happen! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Kent, I know that you would take care of my sub as I would yours. I would be happy to send you my mag when it comes in for a week or so. It is the 12" version and will be the production model not the Proto. Let me know if you are interested. Hell, maybe I could take a few days off and drive up there and we can have fun terorizing your neiborhood with the solox, mag, and the RL-P ABSOLUTELY!! anytime justin! i'd love to put the new mag (even the old one) heads up against the rl-p. i'm down for it, u just let me know when u wanna do it! be it ship it up here or u drive up here, let's "git-er-done!" but for real, ur more thn welcome, if ur schedule allows, to tool on up here, hang at casa dela ray, and we'll tear chit up!! has to be after june 24-30..i be in jamaica then man! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

ahhh..but the rl-p, IMO, can run heads up against the SX, XXX, brahma, and L7 any day of the week in spl and sq. and IMO it beats the 99's and 95's in sq way easily, a few of those can get louder by handling more power, but that's it. but i know for a fact (well, by my ear) the rl-p will get lower then teh xxx and the L7 in same/compareable boxes. and u know as well as i the solox has been beaten by it's lesser brethern in spl contests. this had to do more with enclosure then the sub itself, i'm sure, but it has been beat. but ur right, the rl-p is a lil overmatched by the "Uber". and it's supposed to be. but only because power handling and potential displacement are going to allow it to possibly be louder in a given situation. and because the "Uber" is supposed to be an "exotic" sub. it should be the better sub. but i'd still put the rl-p up against it in sq anyday. mike, u've heard both, what u say? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

email mike directly, [email protected] sold out already? damn...lol...he just got this order in.... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
-
nope, no drawback other then the loss of powerhandling, but then again, the sub will be more "efficient" and not need the extra power. could get a bit boomy in that large of a sealed box though. the only way to find out is build it..lol.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i think both sound excellent, in the proper enclosure. they both have the ability to get impressively loud, though IMO, the rl-p sounds better while doing this. but all things being equal, for the price, there just isn't much out there that can hang with the rl-p. and u throw in the excellent customer service of mike, and the rl-p is a definite winner. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

frosty..red stripe is good....and thanks! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

good morning just a quick post..lol.. off to work i go!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

kicker's spl monster...and $700 for the 18 is cheap..they retail around $1700....i got mine for $750 (well, free at first, but i decided to buy it) u'll like the rl-p..lol...the solo can't hold the rl-p's jock when it comes to getting low, loud and sounding great doing it. the solo's get loud first, low second and don't get to sounding great...lol...but can sound good. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

there's like three ppl here (more i believe) that own that sub...ss3079, njccbflo and tirefryr..give them a pm, or ask in the sub section. they'll give ya the answer ur looking for! which is a good one! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
-
while the 626 has a decent trunk and will fit the 15..i used to own a 98...the 12 will give ya some left over space. also, it gets loud, loud enough for a 4 dr car..lol. i have a single 12 in 1.25ft^3 sealed in an 04 grandprix off the factory hu and 750wrms rated. even after the factory hu attenuates the bass it's loud and sick low. i love the lows it plays..lol.. so it's really up to u, the 15 will take up more room, but will could potentially yield more output, though u could get real close to a sealed 15 with a ported 12...and they use roughly same size box. also, teh 12 will save ya a bit of money... so..how is ur budget? space? desired output? those will help answer ur question..and again, the 12 is enough for a mid sized car. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
-
lol, as i listened to the MAG, i truly realized that my midbass is lacking that much. potential project? maybe. as to real subbass, i will definitley stand in line to say that the MAG LOVES to play sub bass. from about 45-50hz down, this thing is STRONG. get real low, in the 20-30 hz range and this thing just reaches. alot. i can only imagine how much stronger it would be down low in a slightly larger box, say 3ft^3 tuned low 30's...shake a car to bits! and ur right, it didn't do spectacular in this enclosure, but it did real well. handled tons of power and like i said earlier, was amazingly clean. was a little slow, but only on the really fast stuff. but u called it, it's a large box sub. at least ported. i didn't even get the kind of excursion aaron got from the 12, even with 2500wrms rated. i really believe the box held it back on the output end of things. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i know this isn't going to change ur opinion, but oh well... why let someone dictate to u who's forum this is? in reality, it's nobody's, because it's everybody's(save for mark, lol, the owner of the place). we share in it equally. don't let one person decide what u should do. unless that person is u. and in the very least, like dennis just mentioned, at least drop into IHoP and wh0re it up a bit every now and then. and at the risk of sounding rude, don't be selfish and bail. man up and work thru the issue. there is a compromise here and it's simply this...this forum is big enough for everyone. even in the same house. and thanks for the knowledge u've shared. (not too mention, mentioning me by name..lol...i appreciate that.) wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

yep, u do! good morning my last morning going to work at 6am for a week....lol...today is 6-3:30, tomorrow starts the 3-3:30 crap. steve, i'd so much prefer 6-6:30 cuz the wifey gets off work at 6pm..so it puts us home together....also, i wouldn't have to get up at 1am to get ready... also, this crap of having to work all weekend (1st with sunday, 3 outa the last 4 in a row working saturday) is bullchit. i so can't wait till the 24th...jamaica, here i come! stock up on red stripe beer and rum, cuz i'm coming thirsty!! hehe wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

well... the two 12's will have more cone area, and the potential to get louder. however, DD's are known for getting loud. rl-p's have fantastic sq, whereas with my limited experience with DD's has lead me to believe that sq isn't the strong suit. it's decent, but not great. but then again, none of the installs in which DD's were used are necessarly geared towards sq either. i think both are extremely capable of getting low. the rl-p 12's are the most impressive 12's i've heard (save solo x's) for getting insanely low. while this is mostly a toss-up...my vote is for the rl-p wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
