i might have missed it.....is it common chambered? if so, what ur experiencing is normal.... if it's a divided box, then u have a leak between the chambers... but otherwise, i like scott's suggestions..u can pull it out and do the paper...or u can reseal while in car (if possible) wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

if ur ports are no deeper then 4" or so, they have u tuned in the mid 40's....that's why u can't reach teh lows... to add port length to ur current box would take away port area and increase the chances for noise. if i understood u, ur ports are 3.5" wide, 11.5" tall and 4" deep, correct? that gives ya about 80.5^2" of port (both ports)...if u tried to lengthen the port ,and for arguements sake, by usind ur left over .75" mddf..ur port sizes would be 2"x10" or 40^2" for both ports. if u tried that, ur port length would need to be roughly 5.25" long to bring ya down around 36hz.... what i would suggest, is that u try by using .5" mdf....that will give you a port size of 2.5" x 10.5" or 52.5^2" of port area between the pair. make them 8.75" long.... i would make a pair of port inserts and slide them in my current ports, and give them a listen. make them removeable and if u don't like them, toss them.....or then u have a daily port setup (the inserts) and a comp set up (the original ports) wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i think i'm going to stick with the tweets i picked out..they have a wider freq response. and i wanna hear what the chamber does for them...lol.. now, i need to figure out the enclosure size and tuning... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

just finished this about a week ago for bigboygrubbs (jim referred him)..it's ~ 2.5ft^3 tuned to 40hz with 42in^2 of port....it's the future home of a audioque HD 12" sub... quick coat of black just for no reason (he's going to linex the enclosure).... enjoy.... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

yep, if you're only going to run one rl-i, teh mc500d will be perfect! (dunno where i got you were going to run a pair of them?? ) that box (.75ft^3 net sealed) should work wonderfully in your situation. however, a ported one will give more output with a slight loss of sq. if you can squeeze jsut a bit more airspace, i'd suggest about 1ft^3 tuned mid to high 30's (35-38hz) with roughly 15-20in^2 of port (if u go slot) or 4" round. you can always run the port almost entirely outside the enclosure if it will help ya get the space ya need. it sounds like you've got a good plan going and don't forget...we're suckas for pics!!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

well, two issues... first, unless mike still has some single 4s available, the amp ur using (i'm thing the mclass 500d?) isn't going to work. u can however use either the m class 1000d(which i'd recommend) or the pr series 500d or 1000d..all three are stable to one ohm, which is what u'll need with a pair of dual 4 subs. or maybe a regulated amp (like the jl 500/1 or 1000/1, there are others, like pg) that will give u the power at 4 ohm, which ur vehicle will love ya for! second, .83ft^3, is that net before sub displacement, and per sub? if so, that'll give ya around .75ft^3 net per sub sealed and that's sweet! if that's not enough,u can do some loose polyfill and that'll help "gain" some internal volume. also, a low tuned ported box would be awesome. of course to me, that's about 36-38hz, and would require about 1ft^3 per sub after port and sub displacment. now for ur truck, if u don't mind losing a lil legroom, i know 2.5ft^3 ported can be attained, but u have to build up over the trim piece. so ported can be done. but it's not an easy box... f150 box i just completed thread but if ur after more sq then spl...do the sealed box and 1000wrms for the pair.... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

what is the box tuned to? did they built exzactly to memphis specs? if so, they are tuned about 40hz. in which case a lower tuned box will help immensely. the enclosure i did is a common chamber 6ft^3 net box with ~62in^2 of port tuned to 36hz. it gets low. his ranger is basiclly falling apart on the inside. for the money, you have very nice subs. your box is the issue, not the subs as far as the lowlows go... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

and with that... i'm out... peace! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
