Kee...IME, the fubr is just that, fubred... anyway, and it's not really going to work with the pg amp, which IIRC, is 500 x1 @ 4ohms. the d4 fubr won't get to 4 ohms, only 2 or 8. if u want to wire it up in parallel and try it, go ahead.(again, IME with the xs2500, it should handle it) but please read the gain setting tutorial in the amp section of this forum. and turn ur bass control all the way down. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

ok...how about this? http://media.putfile.com/100_00558995 i will be writing up a good review tomorrow sometime as i am going to try to get this thing on the TL tonight. mike, in this enclosure, i have noticed the peak to be in the mid 30's, however, the rolloff into the upper frequencies doesn't really happen until about 43-44hz. then it starts to tail off a bit. andeven the peak is somewhat gradual, as in 28hz is almost as loud as 30, which is almost as loud as 35, then it levels out, then it starts to drop about 44... all in all, the response in this box isn't bad. but i would suggest a port area minimum over 40in^2. there is mucho noise around tuning frequency, even with 32in^2. as u climb up into the 30's and 40's, it goes away. this sub can move some serious air!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

good point on the basket diameter..i should've mentioned it..it is LARGER then most. i had to route this one out a bit in order for the rl-s to fit... my wife (and i) liekt he grille, thank you...lol..allows for quite a bit of excursion will providing a ton of protection.. and i wish i had more power to give it..it's nice... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i've got a 20mb movie i need to compress so that i can get it uploaded...it's in quicktime, any idea how i'm supposed to do that? btw, it's a video of the RL-s playing "freek-aleek" wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

the music in that vid was on the xm radio in her truck, teh "Raw" channel i believe. if i can get this other vid uploaded, u'll see what it can do with "freek-a-leek"...lol, which means if u like that first vid, u're going to love this second vid.... and psycho....WOW describes this beast perfectly!! but a better "review" will be forthcoming! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

is that sub a dual 2 ohm voicecoil? if so, and by wiring it up in parallel, you sent a bit more then 500wrms to it. the xs2500 is a two channel a/b amp, rated for 250wrms x 2 @ 2ohm, 125wrms x 2 @ 4ohm and 500 wrms x 1 @ 4ohm. it isn't designed to be ran at 1 ohm, which is what you wired it to by using a parallel wiring setup. you needed to wire up in series to achieve 4 ohm, which would have been fine. now, when i owned my xs2500, i was told it would indeed handle 1 ohm and produce about 1200wrms. so i wired it up for 1 ohm. and i'm surprised it didn't burn down my truck. that's how hot it got. it never did shut off, and though i never got it benched, i would say that it did produce real close to the 1kwrms level (going by what happened when i replaced the xs2500 with a st1000d memphis). that being said, you blew your sub due to a few reasons. from what i can gather, you've probably pushed it very hard the whole time you've had it, was pushing it with more power then you had thought, was more then likely sending it a clipped signal the whole time and depending upon box (which you didn't mention), probably fatigued the tinsel leads to the point that they broke (which is what i've gathered you've done by your statement " the positive on one side and the negative on the other" ). the cure? like aneonrider mentioned above, a recone. you'll have to contact powerbass as to the specifics. learn how to set your gains, there are a few good threads here to help with that. and (if my assumption is true about the sub being a dual 2) read up on some wiring diagrams to help out next time. btw, the "bass control" is another term for bass boost, which = bad! you definitely don't want that turned halfway up with the gain halfway up. all it does is reinforce a very narrow range of frequency, like 40-45hz, and will lead to premature clipping of the amp's signal. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Maxxsonics Acquires MB Quart
mrray13 replied to KickinAudio's topic in News, Announcements, and Lobby
well, at least MBQ didn't just go away when RF decided to drop them. going to be interesting to see what the "crosspollination" of products leads too... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -
i've uploaded a short one to ROE..but the good one is 20mb..lol...i will upload it tomorrow..and i'm uploading the short one now to putfile, it's only 6mb.. here's the link.... http://media.putfile.com/100_000678 wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

anyone want to help out a n00b with box design?
mrray13 replied to SSS 18734's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Well, BBP 6 does calculate a slot port accurately given the way the program does model it within the Box Volume Displaced by the Port parameters. However, within those parameters, it has to be specified what the thickiness of the material being used noted by input " B ". The Box Volume Displaced by the Port parameters are not making any assumptions here, they are performing the function properly based on the manner which the program was written to calculate either a round or slot port not to include any part of the enclosure itself. So, like a round port which is calculated to lenght based on the volume, diameter & tuning frequency, a slot port is calculated in the same manner as if it were a separate part installed. Now, given that the majority of the time when we design ported enclosure's using slot ports, we're going to use the top, bottom, side & back for part of the slot port walls. This leave's us with only having to determine the final port wall or walls that make up the rest of the slot port which we have to figure out their displacement which changes the parameters of the enclosure design. LB ( Lord Baccus ) asked me this question awhile back when he was trying to figure out a slot ported design in BBP 6 and his calculations were getting totally throw off because he could not understand which parameters within the program were causing the conflicting issue's. Rather than trying to explain it to him, he sent me his BBP 6 design and I sent him back my BBP 6 design of the same enclosure and referenced those parameters within the program to show the errors within the formula, once he saw both designs side by side, he got it just like that. Your are totally correct, when designing slot ports within BBP 6, you have to totally zero out the parameters in the Box Volume Displaced by the Port parameters and use the Box Volume Displaced by Miscellaneous Objects to properly calculate the slot port parameters to account for both the Port Displacement and Port Wall Displacements. Granted, it's a royal PITA to calculate the slot port parameters accurately because you have to constantly re-adjust all the other parameters but I've discovered a few tweaks and using a calculator I created in EXCEL, I've reduced the amount of effort I need to apply for designing slot ported boxes in BBP 6 and in turn allow me to build enclosure's with a greater degree of satisfactory results in terms of bass response and performance once the customer recieves and installs the enclosure. We all agree that the other factors involved after the sub/enclosure are installed are going to skew the bass response/performance, none of us can deny that unknown element. Phil Woodlawn Cabinetry ( NOT KENT ) that's jsut what i was referring too, but i didn't put it so nicely, lol. you'll get used to me like that. and, btw, i'm Kent. nice to meet ya Phil! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee:slayer: -

the biggest downside to bb6p is that is doesn't figure slot ports accurately, as it pertains to the port's displacment. it also assumes you are going to build the port seperately and not use a wall as part of the port...you have to tweak the program a bit to get it close. otherwise, i'm extremely happy with bb6p and the results it's given me..however, i agree with ryan. while it will indeed give you an idea, one should not wholey rely upon it's graphs...unless you want to take the time to map out the frequency response of your vehicle so that the graph's can use the vehicle response as well. even then, i won't just assume that the bb6p graphs are 100% accurate. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
