    HT sub project

My 43" Philip plasma(in the picture) does the trick. I can hang it on the wall, just don't care too. I need some place to put audio gear anyway, so I use a TV stand. If I had a crawl space, I'd use that instead. 4 or more MJ18's look to fit the bill nicely and within a decent budget Take her not saying no as saying yes and run with it lol..that was all she said...he needs a wall mount plasma.... but i'm going to run with it..hehe..... not IB though...i'm thinking one 15", 10cubes, tuned 15hz.....about 1kwrms.... maybe one 18" solo x..hehe...15cubes....15hz..... and a richter scale!! i can get my old x back cheap....(he's got two new ones we are putting in his escalade...) wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    Need SPL oriented Driver(s)

with a budget of $350 and wanting to play in street b....(which is 4-8's, 3-10's, 2-12's or 1-15) you got some serious smart shopping to do... honestly, i'd suggest a pair of the d4 12"L7's..especially if yoru note is above 50hz...make sure they are the 2006 models...loud and proud baby!! i just 4 8L7's under the backseat of an 04 silverado xcab off a big belle....tuned about 42hz....scoot says it's the loudest underseat setup he's heard.....save teh one where we replaced the bottom part of the seat with the enclosure and glued the seat foam to the top of it....lol.....it housed two 12L7's in an OBS xcab chevyoff a mc1000d..... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  4. bigpete nailed it... set it the way teh paper says...great starting point. then tweak and tune till you like it. that's the only way to go...what happens on paper isn't necessarly what's going to happen in car. everything changes once it's installed. a car is not the perfect install...... but as to my situation, if i understood scoot and fred right (fred being our memphis rep) the crossovers on the sq componets don't really filter out any lowend...meaning without the h/u xovers, the mids are recieving full signal all the way down to whatever is in the music....as to the mid/tweet points, memphis has them pretty dead on for my ears...i love the way the tweets and mids blend. i found out just how much i was missing earlier this week while i was running only the mids up front (my tweets were out with the door panels). man, they make a world of difference. the mids are almost midbass, not midrange and the 1" silk tweets drop pretty freaking low...lol... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  5. 90% of all indash screens really lack on preout voltage...unless you spend $$$...if you think your h/u signal is weak, try sony's...blah...... we did a jensen screen and he had us quickly replace it with a clarion unit.. a line driver will help, and audiocontrol is the sweetness for stuff like that. 4volt or more is where it's at... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    HT sub project

man, that is sweet!!! i just showed my wife unit those pics and said i wanted to do something similiar....and she didn't say no!!! sweet!! actually, i want to build into the floor as our crawl space is huge...but attic would work..lol... she did mention that you needed a wall unit plasma screen (she sells those type of things) to go with your install..... but that is the sweetness bro!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

good luck getting your stuff back mike...and getting those goons busted. we had an installed jacked recently here...audiobahn too! but they tore our install up getting the flame subs and rack amp out...sucks for the kid. good news is they have located everything (subs are thrashed) and are prosecuting the thieves.... hope yours gets resolved as quickly bro! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    REVIEW OF NEW TWEETERS!!

hehe.... i gotta try that!!! in our store, the street edge tweets made by memphis are a hot seller...they take gobs of abuse before they pop.... thanks for the review j wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  15. it is possible to use both.. but what dave was saying is simply this... try it with both xovers on and then turn the amp crossovers off...see which you like. dave was saying he doesn't use the amp xovers in his setup, rather he has an external processer with it's own xover settings and he uses his componet xovers with an extra filter for the tweeter..... me? i use the xover settings in my headunit and the passive xovers with the componets....but then again, my componets aren't amped yet and without the h/u filters on, the memphis xovers don't filter out enough of the lowend to protect the mids at , um, clipped volume.... yeah, that's n0obish, but i get carried away sometimes...... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    Unstoppable Amp whine!

if the grounds are solid (i mean connections aren't sloppy, and attached to the metal very well) and unplugging the rca's doesn't work...then you need to send the amp off to service.... also, replace the rca's anyway and check your radio ground. regardless of what harness was used, if a radio ground is bad, it'll ground through whatever it can, usually rca outputs, which will fry an amp. and possibly the radio preoputs... so here's a checklist.. 1) remove amp, send in for fixing. (i'd all but guarantee it needs it) 2) remove head unit. make sure ALL connections are good, into harness, antenna (including any adapters). 3) trace factory ground for head unit, make sure it's solid. wouldn't hurt to add a new shorter ground in any case. 4) while head unit is out, might be a good time to have it looked at. make sure it didn't mess up anything internally as well. 5) replace rca's. they aren't that expensive and just incase something in them (ie; short) caused the problem, you'll not have that to worry about. good luck bro. i hope it isn't nothing to serious, but we've had that happen at work. bad radio gorund led to amp getting messed up due to the radio grounding thru the rca's..... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
