lol..glad to hear your happy! SS has grown by leaps and bounds over the last year and a half or so, and mike has yet to change. from getting lucky enough to stumble upon a link to his site to having his own forum and following, he's always been about making sure his product has the absolute best service and performance. he has yet to dissapoint. i'm sure his life gets hectic, but he has established a bar and continuely strives to raise it. mike is indeed the man! again, welcome to the SS and SSA family!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i must say, i'm kinda impressed with the TL for the rl-i 8..so far it's been pretty sweet. surely it's not an spl monster, but it's notreally lacking either. and the TL definitely does what everyone says, it really reenforces the lowend! it makes teh 8 sound like a 12! it's pretty freakin cool! time to clean up now..lol... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

part one of in car testing done!! and i've gotta say, so far so great! first test was the lightning audio strike x2 12" in 2.5ft^3 tuned to 28hz. the best i could do with this set up (again, orion 2500d wired at 4 ohms) was a 130.5 @ 45hz, every try was legal, mic on dash, truck off, sealed up car. (if you remember, same box, same amp and same power as it was ~ 4ohm as well, the rl-s sub, did a 136.6 @ 34hz). musiclly, this sub does a good job in this application. no real complaints here. second test...removed the la and box, dropped in the rl-i and the tl, same settings on everything, except it's wired tp the orion at 8 ohm and it breaks out a 128.7@ 41hz! half the power, and half the cone area and it damn near equals the LA! at a lower frequency! tweak the amp a bit, and boom, 129.9 @ 42hz! play it outlaw for giggles..132.7@41hz! so i know the tl is loud (we already knew the rl-i was capable..lol) for what power it's getting. now it's time for music! i'll report back on this one as it'll stay in the tb for a couple of days...... again, factory electrical system, factory headunit, all scores legal save the one noted, on a tl. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

yeah, i know. and jim, your absolutely correct, there are several very fine firearms made outside the us....the swiss arms p210 being considered one of the greatest shooting 9's of all time. even then, the s&w m952, made right here, has won a few h2h against it. but for match shooting, we jsut haven't caught up... btw...testing the rl-i in the tl posted in the advance section..hehe..... moving on to the in car part now... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

ok...just got done in room.. source unit is a jvc hx-z1 delivering 110 watts of power to the subwoofer via a seperate subwoofer output (rated 120 x 2 for the highs, 55 x 2 for the subs) that's regulated for anywhere from 6-16 ohm...teh rl-i is wired for 8... both enclosures will be placed facing the wall, 4" away. the mic is 6' away, about 1' below the sub. first up is the recommended .17ft^3 sealed endeavor. and i'll tell ya, the rl-i performs in this thing. blends nicely with the rest of the system (7" dayton alum mids, hifi 1" textile dome tweeters, using memphis mclass xovers, in .66ft^3 tuned to 55hz IIRC, i'll have to look that up around here.) and delivers awesome bass response. it peaked at 104.5db@ ~ 50hz, not bad for 110watts. the transmission line, well, wow. at 32-35hz this thing delivers around 110db. talk about lowend reenforcement..lol... and averages around 106-108 for the rest of the range i played it.but it also blends better with the rest of the system then the sealed one did. i believe it's because the selaed one is overpowered a bit by the fact the highs are getting 240 watts compared to it's 110. the tl keeps up and even mnakes the tweeters appear to be not as bright. again, i think this is due to the power level. next up... the rl-i8 in tl vs the la strike in basic ported in the tb!! the la will have a power advantage, i'll be using an orion 2500d and the la is wired for 4 ohms. the rl-i for 8..... and off we go!!!! pics later... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Opinions please. That is on my list of pistols. Well, not the 9mm, the .45 ACP acutally, but I imagine they will be quite similar. I've put a couple clips through it with the .357 Sig barrel in it. I like it, it fits in my hand pretty well, shoots nice. The only downside of the .357 Sig round is it has a hell of a snappy recoil to it. Decent trigger, decent sights (nothing like my match pistols, but still not bad for what it is). I'm kinda fond of the no safety on it (other than the grip/trigger), it seems pretty well laid out, slide release is easy to get to and easy to flip. I plan on buying the one chambered in .45ACP once I turn 21, my brother got this for his concealed carry gun. All in all I'd recommend it, I'll try to remember to post a little more once I get some 9mm rounds through it hopefully tommorow. ever review i've seen of that firearm has been excellent, in 9, 357, and 45....i actually considered it when i bought my kimber. HOWEVER, i friend of mine who is teh uber gun guru made mention of the fact that springfield doesn't actually make the parts in the US. he bought one, thinking it was made in america and upon teardown found "made in crotia" on the frame (or slide, i can't remember). while that has nothing to do with the firearm's performance, it struck a nerve and was removed from my want to buy list. as is any springfield now. however, for concealed carry and if your not of the made in usa have to have list...look into the sig saur p239 and p229....those are looking mighty good..even for me.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

testing to commence in a few hours... wooowhooo!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

lol, no need for that to be in pm bro, he's not lashing out at ya or anything, jsut pointing out a very obvious, and IMO, a very valuable fact. you have got all the potential int he world chris, you have to be willing to learn form what others have already done. and remember this, all the reading in the world does not make you an expert, all the failures will, when you finally do succeed. a wise old man said that to me once........thanks dad! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

like eldorado jsut stated, they will easily handle 500wrms...i've even thrown 1700wrms at my rl-i8..yep, 1700wrms + 1 rl-i in 1.35ft^3 tuned to 35hz equals a lot of output and one unhappy subwoofer..lol...but it lives!! for your megacab, i'd suggest somewhere in the .6-.75ft^3 range, tuned to about 38hz with 15inin^2 of slot port, or 3" of round port per driver. shouldn't be a huge port, but even if it is long, you have some 55" of length behind that seat..lol.. good luck and you'll love those 8's. they are monsters!!! and don't forget the pics! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
-
neons, cavs and sunfires...best trunk cars for output..lol... maybe becasue they are cheaply made?? and hey aaron, didn't i build your enclosure? i honestly can't remember which one i built for you... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
-
not needed with a brace through the center of the enclosure. but can be done if wanted. honestly, i'd run a soild brace through the center, divide the chambers. you'll still have the same airspace (or close enough not to matter) and IME, a divided chamber sealed enclosure sounds better. it's cleaner, crisper. but that's just me. sounds like a good plan...don't forget the pics... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

anyone seen this amp???
mrray13 replied to natedizzle's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
mark antony, at one time, was a killer amp for competition. had looks, had performance and had a real nice (meaning high) price tag. wasn't the absolute best, but was a definite heavyweight. haven't heard much about them lately. so things might be a changing. but if that amp is of the same quality of a few years ago, that's a good buy. and $165 isn't all that low, lol. i can get a memphis pr 4 channel, 100.4, for around that. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -
some form of a pimp?? lol, wtf is that?? today is my last day as a car audio installer at radio activity, unless scott matches the offer i got from blattner steel. i don't think he will, but i honestly wish he would. i'd much rather keep installing audio instead of going back to welding and such. oh well, we shall see........ and with that... *poof* wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

might be a pia aroung here, but had great patience and understanding during our recent transaction involving a third party. i will not hesitate to do business with him again. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

that sucks dude...soemthing similiar happened to me a few months back... we have what's called "the player's ball"..it's a weekend where people from mainly chicago and suroiunding area's come down to carbondale, hang out, get drunk, play basketball and show off their systems and whips... anyway, one guy came into the shopo to get some stuff done..no big deal. and he leaves. scott, my boss, comes back to me and says," hey, that burgandy intredpid that just left hei your truck. i didn't see any damage so i told him it was cool to take off. " so we turn the corner to take a look and i'm like wtf?? my bumper is pointed skyward on the passanger side. scott was just like, "i didn't see that, or i wouldn't have let them go" so i get pissed, yank my bumper up so it doesn't appear wrecked, wipe off the burgandy paint and curse alot... in the end, i got even with him for that. muhahahahaha but good luck with your vw man..it's a sweet one, hate to hear it got whacked a bit.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

hey ben, welcome to the forum.!!!! and great pirchase(s) btw!! first answer..polyfill..try it without first, and then with. let your ears decide which you like better. good rule of thumb is 16oz of fill per cubic ft. play aorund with it a bit. remember, it has to stay fluffy and loose or you'll defeat the purpose of polyfill break in...give them a coupel of hours before you wang real hard... amp setup..there is a gain setting tutorial in the forum, read that and you'll be good to go. crossover..sealed and tens, i'd say about 100-110hz... if the amp is a 2kwrms one (i'm not sure) 0 guage is the way to go..otherwise 4 gauge... capacitor? no way. upgrade your factory battery to a yellowtop or similiar performer. hope that helps some. i'm sure you'll get even more opinions as the night rolls on. in the end, it's your ears that have to decide the best setup. we can give you ideas/opinions, but we can't tell you what you like. good luck and welcome again!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
