yay...i made your ignore list for the third time. and i'm just speaking what the majority feels....nothing wrong with that. no flaming, no harshness, just the truth bro. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

nice idea. maybe we can get the other manufacturers to do something similiar........ i have to pee, will in just a moment. 'tis the pause that refreshes... and the pigs in the blanket, when you add a slice of cheese> french toast many, many times over! now, where's my teeshirt? i'll take a sticker for my tool box too...... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

no dealers anywhere except online. mike can get ya a rl-p15, there are some up in the great white north. shoot him an email, he typically responds to those a bit faster. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

80...you bandpass whore. lol..i'm going to be sending you a pm here over the weekend. i want you to look over something. get your mind outa the gutter. and tez4life, is the 4ft^3 box built already? if so, give it a whirl. one thing about mike's subs, they will work in just about anything. everyone said the rl-s drivers needed huge boxes too, but from my experience, that just isn't the case. the 12" rl-s i tested in my wife's trailblazer went in 2.5 @ 28hz and is still the loudest measured sub in there to date. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

regardless.. you could have done what you did with a prefab, and looked better doing it. even with the wires hidden, that is ghetto. i honestly can't believe you even remotely think that looks okay. i also like your ear meter. sounds like a 40 to me. great, lol. i hope, for you, the meter shows your ears are tuned. and a pair of 15s in a trunk with ~1500wrms, should get there. if not, something is wrong. low 40's are easy. even in a trunk. for our sake, i hope you don't do another build log. hurts our eyes. of course, just your everyday posts and the deciphering that goes along with them, hurts the eyes as well. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

has anyone gotten a chance to mess with the 2007 HUs?
mrray13 replied to bigger_george's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
we've got the new clarions, currently up to the dxz775mp. while i haven't played with the time alignment yet, the crossovers are nice. i don't think they are a true 6 volt deck though. but for the price, we sell the 775 for $299, you get usb input, another aux input, ipod capability through canet, changer controls, the above mentioned TA, sub control, high/low pass filters, sat ready, color change screen and ~ 6volt/6 ch outputs. that's a whole lotta deck for the money. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -
box is resined, inside and out. 1" mdf. all port edges rounded over. no 45s, but it's a daily box, not intended for super high output. and yep, i understand about turbulence and stuff, lol. and the rear window doesn't roll down, it's a hatch. 2002 escalade. no issues with the install save the subs are getting less then half the power they can handle. and the truck is falling apart around the subs, lol. grim, i'd wager your hatch is giving up the air just as scott's is. his hatch is moving out close to half inch or so, you can feel the air leaving, lol. we plan on trying it again one day with people pushing on vital areas. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

stole the dog? stole the dog? i'm with sean, time for a ho down beat down! stealing a man's dog is a justifiable reason for an ass whoopin! you need to retaliate and quickly. it's the principle of the thing bro! happy friday all! and congrats ryan1! pics of said new dwelling? steve, how goes your house hunt? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

How to determine amplifier output
mrray13 replied to tejcurrent's topic in Technical Info & How To's
an oscope can be had for cheap, i got mine for $20. to be realistic and fair, snag a scope, set the gains to where they aren't clipping and check your voltages. (the process is easy enough, measure and record dc input to the amp. measure and record ac output to the speakers and multiply the two. ie, 14 dcv input times 130 acv output = 1820 watts) i'll ask my guy here, i think he has another scope he wants to get rid of. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -
sean is right about port length. as to the bag trick, the boss's escalade has a pair of 18" solo xs, in 14.75ft^3 net, tuned to 30hz with 200in^2 of port. pushing this monster is a memphis 4kw @ 1ohm. electrical is a yellow top up front, blue top in back, 1/0 wire and big three and a dual alternator set up giving about 310amps of power(iraggi 220 and a stock ford 90). it does a 140 @ 25hz and a 151.6 @ 50 hz on the tl and we have yet to pull of a hair trick or bag/ shirt trick. his rear hatch glass flex out enough that we think that's where the air is going, or possibly the sunroof. so those are areas you might check as well. if the air finds a escape before your window, that could be your issue. i'd also add a bit more power. the 'lade will be getting a second 4kw soon. hehe wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

signed cones are several deeeebeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez louder too! if i can snag one, it had better be signed!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

don't have an opinion on SS vs RM, as i've not used either, but i still wouldn't pay for that install like that. it's ghetto. unless you billed it as such, there isn't anything custom about that trunk. and please tell me the wires in the trunk will be hidden and not just ran on top of the carpet like that. and the paint is blotchy, the camera's eye will almost always pick up what we can't see. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

yep..it's that nice. still chillyin the mornings, ie: 30* or so, but mid 50's by afternoon. closer to 60 by monday!!! currently 54* today. hell, the turtles were out yesterday sunning. i say that's a good sign spring is here. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

How to determine amplifier output
mrray13 replied to tejcurrent's topic in Technical Info & How To's
hey sean, the OP wants to know "real numbers" his subs will be getting. as quoted above. that tells me in car, in enclosure using his subs as the final load. thus, using the methods described by chris and myself should be adequate, IMO hehe.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -
the truck exists. and it's the bad!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

silience of the lambs is awesome. hannibal lector is a sweet character. has anyone seen hannibel yet? i didn't care for the red dragon much. the program. but i'm a football guy and while there are some cheesy parts, i still watch it everytime it's one. FMJ. " what do i get for $10" and a rap lyric was born!! lol the first nightmare on elm street. freddy is the baddest of the bad. tombstone with val kilmer. he was an awesome doc holliday. wildhogs. it's a funny movie. travolta steals the show, but there is some definite gay moments you have to watch for. way funny! a knight's tale. everything about the movie is funny. other then that, i hated crank. a few moments of funny, but for the most part, you could look away and not miss anything. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

you know him? for real? he's from here. the"dually" s-10 is called mighty mite. 700 odd plus horsepower. the funny truck, tiny mite, is badass! never got to see him run, but he would only run certain tracks anyway. anything bumpy, he wouldn't go. got to hear it a few times, he was built in a garage less then 500 feet from where i lived at the time. the truck would rattle my windows at idle, lol. mighty mite wasn't bad either. except for it being doodoo brown, lol. he ran an electric cci waterpump at the time, before they were built for street use. replaced it every year. Todd is odd looking, but has some sweet as rides. no need to look it up. i'll verify this story, lol. this dude has some sweet rides. i need to run by Rodney's and see if Todd is still around. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

How to determine amplifier output
mrray13 replied to tejcurrent's topic in Technical Info & How To's
unless he's doing some sort of write up, ie: publishing a book of amp performance manufacturer specs vs true benching, there simply isn't a need for such stable measurements. unless his box/sub combo holds that same level of stability, it doesn't matter what the amp does on the bench. it's going to change in car. worried about distortion? fine. set the gains using a scope and measure output. but still use the load the amp is going to be seeing in car. then you'll have real world power, not what happens on a bench. example, my hifonics nemesis is set using a scope. rated 750 wrms, it'll produce 840 wrms clipped. (according to ac output x dc input) unclipped, i'm around 450 (unclipped output. i haven't bothered to check the LOC converted input signal) . musical. i didn't use tones. why? it'll never see tones. no need to set that way. no truer measurement of power needed, IMO. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -
How to determine amplifier output
mrray13 replied to tejcurrent's topic in Technical Info & How To's
bah..lol....sean does this crap for a living and his equipment is way beyond the means of mortal men. what chris suggested will work for most in car, daily applications. (my god, i'm agreeing with chris. someone call hell and check the temperature) or if your after musical rms, just use your pair of dmms, check input dc voltage and your output ac voltage. do the math and viola' ! a fairly accurate representation of what your amp does in real world. truth is, a singular stable impedance doesn't happen in real world application, even in burp boxes. so an amp's power is never a stable item as a result. i say go real world, or go home, lol.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -
yep, i do!! and yep, i have. hell, i have a mike recommended .17ft^3 net sealed enclosure just attracting dust at the moment. if your interested, pm me and we'll haggle. and it's got rounded corners, just waiting for a good finish. or, if your wanting something more, pm me, we'll haggle. lol. i've done sealed, transmission line and ported for the rl-i8. it excels in all. btw, i'm in illinois. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i'm with ryan2... i think i know what's going in home very soon!!! and damn, the pricing is simply silly. mike, you are my hero! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Hifonics Zeus 7500 vs. JL 500/1
mrray13 replied to juicyfruit's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
at full tilt..a/b and d are so close, it doesn't really matter in most cases. only at lower volumes does d have any kind of real advantage. and in my experience, the jl is going to kill the hifonics. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -
So flip a coin, then build a good enclosure. got it. between the Q and the rl-p? yeah, that's a pretty good solution. both have outstanding reps, excellent people behind them and have proven themselves a few times over. you wouldn't be hurting yourself with either choice. toss in the bl for a little more output potential. or if you really wanna go nuts, the rl-s. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i'll second sean. and it's something i have done in the past. it can indeed be made to look good, whereas a round port is just that. without hiding it inside a trim panel, you really can't blend it with anything. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
