Need new amp
johnecon2001 replied to jdawg90's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'd either pick the Crunch because of how cheap it is and the ability to expand later, or the Kicker because its a solid amp for the price. -
You'll need the unlock code from either the dealer, or there are several sites online that you can pay a fee to get the code.

Did you not see the Hyundai build log that had 2 15" ICON's hit 150dB? psh, don't get loud my ass.

You should be just fine.

Electrical Problem
johnecon2001 replied to Foxmoto's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Have you tried regrounding the actual head unit? What about the engine wiring? Any corrosion there? -
They'll be off this whole weekend, so I doubt you get an answer till Monday, possibly Tuesday.

Ohm load is just so you can match to your amplifiers. Since most good amps are one ohm stable, you'll want a Dual 2 ohm BL. Then you'll wire like this: If you could, go and get your maximum dimension to put a box in. And we'll see how much space you truly have. Then we can see if you can fit a 15" in a nice ported enclosure.

You can purchase the package, however the ICON's are out of stock till sometime in August. Mark has stated there will be a discount on preorders though.

More info? What are your subs wired at? What does your electrical look like? What is your systems voltage at when it clicks into protect? Is there a short in the speaker wire perhaps? C'mon man...
-
Why do you want to get the DVC1 ohm woofer? Have you bought an amp to match it to yet? As far as 12" or 15" goes.. it really comes down to how much space do you want to give up.

Is that one of Nicks?

So whose the guy next to you? Welcome to SSA!

Those are the old BTL parameters. Not even close to the new ones.
-
If you really need to see T/S specs, you could always buy this http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...FTOKEN=35944016 May give you a baseline, may be way off.

I try not to use drywall screws if possible, as the heads seem to snap off really easy. At least on the black kind. 1 5/8" is the size though. Look for wood screws or anything else in that length really.

If my HOA ever does that.. the neighbors would RIOT. EVERYONE parks on the street.

What amp?
-
How much space are you willing to give up? If you allot 2.3^3ft per 12" BTL the final number comes to 17.6^3ft. Keep in mind you still need 12-16sq in of port per cubic foot. If you go with the 15's, you need around 4^3ft per BTL, coming to 16^3ft. Use the same port recommendations.

lol, half the amps aren't plugged in..

As long as the impedance is within the receivers operating range, there's no reason they won't work in a HT application. Are their better drivers more suited to home use? Yes, but those will work fine.

Perhaps you should tell us your goals and listening preferences first. Your subwoofer selections range from SPL monster, to Daily Driver, to Sound Quality. Which basically boils down to.. you just picked the most expensive woofer that particular company offers. We'll also need to know your maximum airspace for an enclosure and any electrical upgrades you have done so that you can support adequate amplifiers.
